I had not heard of them switching to China. I have bought some tins recently and they are just as good as always, so not sure if they switched back. Will have toi check the tins.

Bish

Ye, pretty much. I have heard that Xtracolour, Humbrol and Colourcoats are all made in the same factory, which might explain the tins.

I figured the same cuz of the tins. I read  somewhere that Humbrol switched production to China and some quality control issues  have been reported.

I still have some Humbol  tins  that are nearly 25 to 30 years old and they are still good but  I believe they were made in the UK .

Is Xtracolor anything like Humbrol enamels? I've used Humbrol and they are great.

Ye, thats the one. Not many stores sell them, the small shop in Bury St Edmunds have a small selection. I have heardof a couple of guys on here useing them. But i think the old enamels like those are going out of fashion.

Bish
The 32nd 190 was done free hand without masking, something i do quite often on 35th armour. I am really pleased with the results, this is probably the best demarcation i have got while doing free hand. I have been practicing getting very fine lines, somthing i really need to master for some of the 72nd German camo schemes i have in mind.

Wow...freehand. You have definitely practiced and mastered that. Like I said, very well done and it blended nicely.

Is this the brand? I found this online at SprueBrothers.com. I have been useing Tamiya, Vallejo and Mission Model Paints.

14ML can is $3.49

Xtracolour is one of Hannants own brand products. They also have Xtracrylix, Xtradecal, Xtrakit and Xtraparts. Xtracolour has been my primery paint brand for well over 20 years. Its colours are matched to specific ranges, FS, RLM, RAL etc and they are fgloss paints, so decal ready. I do use other brands, Tamiya, vallejo and a few Humbrol mainly. But Xtracolour is my main one for camo schemes.

I have never heard of Xtracolour...which doesn't mean much LOL. Is this your go to brand of paint, or do you have acouple of brands you like to work with? Also, did you mask off or use putty when applying the camo pattern? I was looking at it closely, the colors are so well blended.

Thanks guys.

Hunter, all paints are Xtracolour enamels. Fortunatly, once the washes were done and the flat coat on, you can't see where the decal issues were.

Thanks PJ.

They were the kit decals. I have had it 6 or 7 years i think. But the decal sheet was a little creased, must have got damaged at some point, so thats probably the problem. Never had issues with Hase decals before.

Next up, my favorite bit. Decals. Though i did have a bit of an isue. One of the upper wing crosses and both of the underwing broke up when being applied. I managed to get them on but with some cracks in them which i painted in.

Also, if you compare the 72nd version with this, you may notice a difference in the arrows on the fuselage. The Hase ones are to big. I did consider trimming but the angles would be all wrong. Ther eis a set of 32nd AM decals, but i didn't fancy paying £14 for 2 decals, so i went with what i have.

And then for some weathering and finishing touches. I seem to have drifted into light weathering in the larger scale, keeping more varied approaches for 72nd dio's. So, some exhaust staining and an overall Flory wash to leave a slightly grimy streaked effect. And all the final touches were added.

The sharp eyed amongst you may have noticed the absence of a spinner. The spiral decal completly broke up. So i have ordered a set of Eduard masks from Hannants. I've already painted the spinner white, so when they arrive, which should be by Tues, i just have to mask, paint, flat coat and fit it. In the meantime i will dirty up the wheels a bit and get it secured to the base.

Thanks for all the comments guys, given the company on this site, its much appreciated.

BK, i do like this scheme. I believe the blue side are the result of over painting previous markings.

Jack, i have no plans at the moment, but will deffinetly consider another one in the future.

Bish, really great looking build of that Stuka. Yes

Any plans in the future for another Stuka GB?

About the photobooth, I have one too but don't use it as it find it made the lighting look lifeless - still prefer natural light.  You seem to be alright, and it definitley did brighten and clear up compared to what you had earlier.   Wonder what is causing that hint of red in the white background?

regards,

Jack

Wow, the Stuka came out amazing. I can completely agree with all the praise for it, it's well earned. And the 190 is coming along nicely. Interesting paint scheme, I can't wait to see it with decals.

Made prety good progress on the 190. I was expecting an issue with the wing fit after being by smeosky gave me a heads up on his build. The left wing had a small gap and did need some filling. The right wing was another matter. I am not sure if i had not sanded down the resin wheel wells enough, but the leading edge did not come together for the last inch to the fuselage. But if it had, it would have left a big step. So i filled the leading edge and the gap between wing and fuselage.

And then onto the paint job. As with the 72nd kit, i did RLM 76 underneath and 83/75 on top. I used the smaller kit as my main paint guide to try and get as close a match as possable.

One other issue with the join between tail and fusleage. This needed several attempts at filling and sanding utill i was happy enough.

Decals up next, more soon.
