Sigman,

I saw your thread down at 'decaling'. The tips that the other mebers posted about using Micro sol i think were pretty good.

Are you kidding? It looks great! It's only fault (in my opinion) that that dio has is it's missing an airplane of some sort. Tongue [:P] Joking aside, I really think that your dio can stand toe-to-toe with the other entries! Give it some thought, okay?

Oh, and if you really aren't happy, build another one! Didn't i hear talk of a Sherman you were wanting to build a while back?

Allan!
Imagine being able to scribe the most minute detail! It might make pin vises (and the injuries that result from them) a thing of the past!

will we be seeing you during the next meeting? I too will have a friend that i recently turned to modeling... I hope she'll stick to it!! Big Smile [:D]

Lani,

Been quite busy at work lately. Have had little energy left to ho on line. Sayang you Beth and Dhel couldnt make it last meet. Lilibre ko pa naman kayo ng fishballs.Dinner [dinner]

Mang Ernie's having problems yata with his PC. Hopefully he'll be able to stretch the kinks soon.

Dwight,

Thats a pretty cool dio, my friend. Ganda!

As Shrikes and Jun said theres no prohibition against not gluing the tank or other vehicle to the base. Plus, we ask the participants to move their kits themselves as much as possible so damage can be avoided/minimized.

Jepot,

Long time no see here, my friend! Glad to see you back. We're still working on project Kagitingan. We're gathering all the stuff.

Shrikes,

Laser? For a 1/350th plane? Man, my world just turned upside down. Lasers for kits---- imagine the potential! The ultimate in high tech building.

You really got to join the patrol, my friend. Remember the rule about watching new movies and the subsequent discussion? Big Smile [:D]

Lipton,

M-20? Thats a ne kit, right? I dont think Ive seen that before. We'll take pics ot it next meet. Hows your Sabre?

Meekai,

So, will we see your Cat next meet? We'll take pics na.

Lord Torque,

I know you. Adolf? Some of the guys have been wondrin about you.

No bucks, no Buck Rogers

Well, it's the academy kit of the Memphis Belle, but the nise window configuration was wrong for the Belle, so I built it as the alternate bomber, the Miss Quachita, if i remember right. On the other hand (if i remember correctly), the Miss Quachita also differed in the placement/size of windows, so it's hardly Accurate.

Dwight!
Fine looking Dio, my friend! I think you'll be able to safely enter that in the Nationals! Wink [;)] Go for it!

i dont think i can finish it in time, im still too slow in building kits, maybe 10 years, hehe.
i have researched in the net and all their complain was how to remove the parting lines in the air intake and exhaust tunnels, can anybody help me with this problem?

the site of the kit reviews is http://www.f-15estrikeeagle.com

mdlchiw,

i have just visited the F-15E site. even the reviewers find removing seams inside intakes and exhaust cans really difficult Sigh [sigh]. and it really is! Banged Head [banghead]

for the intakes, dryfit first to minimize gaps and uneven surfaces after gluing the intakes in place to minimize sanding. i can thereafter suggest wrapping sandpaper around a pencil and using this to sand down the seam. or you may use needle files.

for the exhaust/afterburner cans, i dont see any remedy to remove the seams since the tunnel is corrugated! Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead].

your best bet is to order a resin replacement. try visiting the Aires website or look for the Seamless Sucker brand. they should have exhuast tunnel replacements for the F-15E.

good luck! Black Eye [B)]

We can give offsite membership to anybody as long as it is within the framework of our by-laws. Reggie will become an offsite member when he settles down out there. Iknow someone in Davao who may want to be a member of our group, unless he opts to join Benhur. I gave him benhur's email address for him to write to.

BTW,
I wasn't able to try the table salt technique, too tired after watching Harry Potter 3 last night. Will try again tonight.

I think Lord T's Shermans that flew off the stairs are actually test materials at Bikini Atoll. (lol)

Let's discuss the Rape of Manila when we meet. Sino si Manila? Saan pala... May Manila rin kasi sa Oklahoma...(lol) Oooops, PG13 nga pala.

Mike

MIke,

I think we'll try the "salt thing" on the weekend. How did you fibnd Harry Potter? I preferred the old Dumbledore... But Hermione's getting prettier Big Smile [:D]

If I decide to submit an entry for the diorama category, is it required for a tank or armored vehicle to be glued or fixed to the diorama base? Will it be disqualified if the tank is just simply sitting on and not fixed to the base?

Dwight,

Of course it will depend on the contest organizers but speaking for IPMS/USA rules, there is really no "rule" regarding "fixing" the models to the diorama base. However, experience has taught me that if you leave a model in a competition - especially one that is "Open" and has many visitors who are non-members of the club, you'll probably end up taking home just the base. The models or parts of it will definitely disappear. It really stinks but let's face it - that's life. Black Eye [B)]

hey beth... survivor count? hehehehehe Big Smile [:D]

most people really think models are toys... Sad [:(] kids, specially... imagine your plane flying on its own and end up as casualty of war whenever they surround you! talk about ruining a work of art!

i got me a sabre lion on top of my workstation here at the office... well, i must admit zoids are really very toyish, add to the fact that i just snapped the pieces together and leave it at that... hehehe.

one of these days i'm gonna bring it home and paint it already. hehehehe.

Right you guys are! I just brought my finished Academy 966 Tow Humvee to work last week to show my officemates what I've been doing these past few weeks and

Lo and Behold!

After their bending over the table to look at it, I found the figure of the marine sitting at the top had his head lopped off, the antenna was missing and the canteen of the headless marine inside the humvee! Haaayy! I couldn't tell them naman not to touch it because then they'd say ang "suplado" ko. I wish I'd brought it in a glass case na lang.

Oh, and I was contemplating on buying that same kit, but then i realized that my finances are stretched rather thin as they are! Soon, I'll have a model of all B-17s, hopefully including the YB-17, the YB-40 and a B-17 Firebomber! (insert maniacle laughter here). Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

I was actually hunting for a german bomber (there goes my secret) for December but I didn't find any except for a 1/72 Dragon that has a "Julia" on its name. The kit was nice, even had a few PE parts but I wasn't really that impressed. So I decided to just get the B-17B instead. There's another one in the shop.... a B-17C/D.... maybe I'll get that next year. And there also was an "Enola Gay".... looks good priced twice as the B-17 though.... ehehehe.... out of budget as for now.

cbrain,

The Enola Gay's a really massive plane - pretty but massive. I never even tried to get it because it would never fit in my shelf space at home!

Jun, thank you for the welcome. I appreciate itWink [;)]; and thank you for the portly fine email you sent me; that i appreciate too; no i couldnt have any entries to the last BAC contest; i was in thailand literally waving the Philippine flag infront of the Thai, US, SIngaporean, and Mongolian soldiers, who we had an exercise with. Nice BDAS these guys had.

Oh well, there's always the next competiton.

Are you preparing for the Nationals na? That's a really big event. I remember the last National competion. It was a pity only a few entries came from the far provinces. But it was really fun. I'm sure the next will be even better.

Hey, dwight! I was just going over the rules, and i couldn't find anything that says diorama subjects must be fixed to the base... so I suppose it's alright, but I don't have the final say... I'll get back to you on this one, or maybe Allan will drop by in a while and help you out! Big Smile [:D]
