Well, the prop decals are a no-go.....came off in tiny pieces. Bummer.

Now it is just antenna and touch ups.

Thanks to ALL for encouragement and noting my absence!

For all the short work-weeks we've had lately, we've been taking on work we don't usually bother with. Yesterday we began a one-day furnace change-out. 2 family house undergoing some renovations. In the days since we priced the job.....the 'carpenters' who speak little English.....layed sheetrock over all the return vents, and hardwood flooring over all the supply vents!!!!!!Confused [%-)]

Yesterday we set the new furnaces and got them all piped, wired and ducted into to existing system. Done by 6 p.m.

Then I head upstairs from the ratty basement to list what register covers we needed to buy. In 30 secoonds I knew we had a problem.....NO vents anywhere! Uh Oh!

We located the general spots for the first floor as we could see where things lead from the basement....it still took three of us until after 10 p.m. I came down to bench to check on you guys and finish decaling the T-Bolt....finished all but the prop (eyes tired).

Today we spent ALL DAY locating all the supply's and returns for the top floor....with old ducting running up inside of walls, you can imagine! Had to drill many exploratory holes in freshly painted sheet rock and tear some chunks out too.

Then drill holes in freshly sanded oak flooring.....the 'carpenters' have MUCH repairing to do, but we finally found them all.

So I'm home finally and should have final pics up in a couple hours. Sorry

Y'all shoulda called this one the Week Long GB! But I'm finally finished!Big Smile [:D]

I'd had a really good start coming of te starting line. But this kit was certainly more work than I expected! Certainly hasn't been my friend eitherBanged Head [banghead] The concept was simple enough. I think it just takes a little more expertise than I planned.

Y'all know the issues with the upper wing, so I wont elaborate on that too much. But decalling turned out to be a little more challenging than I thought. Most of them went on well. I did have some trouble with the red/white/blue tail stripes, and the landing gear schemes. They just wouldn' lay down like they were supposed to. I'm guessing it had more to do with the awkward shaped surfaces than anything else. I've also learned that no amount of water or microsol can fix this. I'll probably see about adding another coat of future to seal them, but I'm not too worried about that yet.

Painting the engine cowling was a kind of learning point too. First time I got the copper painted on there, it was perfect! But like an idiot, I continued to mess with it thinking I could get better results. It wasn't until redoing it the 5th time that I decided it looked well enough! Lesson learned- quit while you are aheadBlush [:I]

Anyways, it's not my best work, but there's alot that I've learned and done well. So overall, I'm happy with the results! I'll open the floor to you Gentleman; but first know that I'm wearing the kilt now!Wink [;)]

Warmest regards,

Roger

Roger she is sweet, and you definitely get a pass on flying wires given the time frame. Very nice workmanship and the finish, I see no issues at all.

Congrats man, and no more dating turkeys!

Thanks Roy and Bill!

The wires and such are certainly outta my league. But I'm thinking maybe I'll give the Biplane another shot in the next few years.

Understood about the turkeysWink [;)]

Hey did I call that right or what?! Nam I told em your crew had walled you in at your latest job and That sounds like a pretty close guess!  Looking forward to seeing the P-47!

Roger!  Looks really spiffy If Bi-planes aren't your specialty you can fool me!  I like the colors and the paint job.  Just a splender of joy!

Roy you still working? I saw a 1/48 P-40 N Hasegawa that had your Chikenhawk Nose decals but the LHS was asking over $40 for it. I had to resist and left only with Me-109 late colored paints. For what? I dunno? Whistling [:-^]

You all recall the question I ask about shoes to wear with a kilt? Well Summit Pmed me an answer that I am hoping he shares with you. Tongue [:P]

Roger, awesome work my friend and I would never know that you haven't been build biplanes for years.  Well done.

Nam, your exploits brings back memories.  I used to do flooring and every once in awhile I would get called back because I missed a vent.  Dunce [D)]

Well, folks, speaking of work related matters I finally signed a contract with my employer today that included a 6.25% raise and a heafty signing bonus.  There is a long story behind this that has caused a great deal of stress over the past few months but I won't go into details here.  Let's just say that I feel very fortunate that I still have job (for now).  Wink [;)]

Okay, I know it's only Thursday but that's never stopped anyone in here before.  Time to celebrate, I'm buying!!! Make a Toast [#toast]Make a Toast [#toast]Make a Toast [#toast]

The update...is not good. I have to report that I have failed miserably in my quest to bang out the La-7 in 48 hours. Still 6 to go, but I'm at work, with no chance to finish (too much drying time) even if I were to develop a "sudden cough" here at my desk. Meh. Disapprove [V]

Issues I had were some fit problems (big ones) between the hull/wing linkup (which I'm still trying to salvage - looks like it'll take multiple superglue applications with a lot of sanding), not making it far enough on day one to apply the first coat of paint to the underside, not having pre-cut masks for the 12-panel canopy, and finally...the hot blonde who called me up for a date last night. In a fit of weakness I chose the single girl over the GB - and I feel like a complete heel. Black Eye [B)]

I think I tried to pack too much into the build for such a short span - really needed to try to ignore some basic modeling principles like a)trimming b)sanding and c)washes and drybrushing. Thought 48 hours sounded like quite a bit of time, but seriously underestimated how fast time flies when you're waiting for glue or paint to dry.

My apologies, gentlemen, for not making it to the finish line. You can put me down with a big red "FAILED" on page one. Sad [:(]

P.S. If you saw her, you'd understand. Wink [;)]

Roy, Roy ?  Put that snow shovel away, that snow is heading east by now....  Your P-40 impressed me to the point of opening up a 1/48 Revell kit.  Should build up nice. This is the First time in 30yrs I have attempted to paint a figure of any type. Not the greatest, but after reading the figure thread up in aircraft and looking at the coffee cup encampment of pilots and ground crew ... I felt guilty...
