Steve you are gonna love this stuff.I've used it twice and the fit has been perfect.  I used slow CA lgue, spread out on the back of the zimm thin but make sure you cover it completely.  You will have plenty of time to position it.  Put small drop of accelerater on the surface.  it has little porous spots that will allow it to get through.  Where corners meet they can be sanded but might need a tiny bit of filler.  Battle damage is easy to dop too.   Hard to see but the scheme is the bottom on one the sheet to the right.  3 color on the tank iyself and big green blotched onthe shurtzen.  I picked it becuase the turret skirt has zim on it

Still trying to get all of you updated, no worries though, I know you're all waiting to get added. Will have some time in the next few days (off from work!) so look for it then. There's also that badge thingamajig I need to get finalized. Will definitely be using that pic Boyd found and Marc manipulated - just needs a bit more manipulating. Wink [;)]

In the meantime, FIRE UP YOUR ENGINES! This GB starts in less than nine hours for those of you that are so inclined (read:Wing_nut)! Big Smile [:D]

Just a few more days to kick off.  I got all the goodies out for a look see to make sure all my ducks were in a row. I even had a set of Magic Tracks left over from when I used Fruils aon aprevious build so I won't have to use the rubber band ones. Hope they fit the drive sprocket.

How much difference between a G and an H?  I have a PE set for the DML G and was hoping it would translate to the Tamiya .

Marc, I'm curious to see if those Magic tracks work on your Tamiya kit. Great if it does. did you try one or two links around the sprocket?

I have a similar setup (sort of) to yours Marc: Cav zim, Eduard schurzen, but I have the J. I just finished washing mine and it's quietly drying. I think this kit has a perfect amount of pieces, not too many. LOL I'm really stoked on this and all do apologies to Scott Espins and his GB which I temporarily bailed on. I will work on finishing that Pak 40 though. Scouts Honor. Oh.......I wasn't a scout. Wink [;)]personally i have used the magic tracks on both tamiya and italeri kits.one thing is the fit of the track on the sprocket which i believe led me to use the dml sprocket adapted to the model you are building.seems dml always sends two different tyopes of sprocket.tigerman the h and the g show many differences.the most noticeable is the air pre-cleaners used on the h on the right rear mudguard.also the final drive housings and sprockets differed.the old style were used on the h until adequate supplies of the new cast replacements were made available so you could get away with either. looking forward too this gb.hope some of this info. helps. happy new year all.Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Party [party]Dead [xx(]

Well it's nearly the 2nd of January here, and after a very slow day I feel the need to make a contribution.

Here's what you get in the Tamiya 1/48 Panzer IV Ausf J. I've also just ordered a turned barrel for it, and will probably adapt some pieces from the Legend Stug III stowage set. I'll be a little slow to start as I complete my current project (well, one of them anyway), but should then get right on with it. I'll be particularly interested to see the different weathing finishes and finishing techniques used by participants here.

Cheers

Tony

Flakpanzer and Spitfire are underway.. Well, the Spitfire is... The Wirblewind is just nearby... Bummed me out that the Academy kit I have of the Flakpanzer doesn't have crew figures though... I may switch to the Tamiya one... This's the second Academy kit I've bought and the second one w/o figures.. Is this something I can expect with Academy, no figures?  If so, I may have to rethink my buying choices...

I have a few Academy kits laying around, and the only one that has figures is the M51 Super Sherman.  I can't say with any certainty, but I think figures in their new kits are the exception...

Happy New Year! We laid low last night, so I feel fine, just watching a bowl game right now. I probably won't start until this weekend at the earliest. Honey-do list first, take down the tree, etc. I now work Mondays, so I won't get peace and quiet for that day anymore, but that starts in two weeks. Perhaps I can kick off this Monday. I haven't gotten my zimmerit yet, still waiting for the LHS to buzz me.

Sorry to report the only progress so far is the box in on the bench and not under it.Big Smile [:D].

Tman, I am happy to report though that it looks like the dragon Magic Tracks are going to work fine on the Tamiya sprocket.

Good to hear. I have a few sets that were provided by a member that I could use on a few Tamiya kits if they work out.

wing_nut, taxtp, Azgaron,  nice kits all!!  Looks like you're the first ones out the starting gate!  However you're all doing late Pz IVs!  Anyone going to start on any early IVs??  Anyone??  Well anyway, here's something for all you fans of panzer gray IVs!

This is the Coree Productions Pz. IV Ausf. A.   All the parts came wrapped in bubble wrap.  I removed most of the loose parts and repackaged them in ziplock bags to make sure nothing disappeared!

Lower and upper hull.  That lower hull is one beefy hunk of resin!

Major parts, including full resin tracks!  Never tried that before.....

More parts! And more warped resin!

Why we all signed up for this GB!!

And even more loose parts!

Hold on!  Lets not forget the pioneer tools n' stuff!

And last the PE sheet!

This is just a teaser guys!Propeller [8-]  I can't start this kit until I've at least started the kits for the 251 Halftracks GB and the Red Storm on the Reich GB!  I will get back to this one as soon as I can!  It won't be hard...the resin goodness keeps calling out to me!Laugh [(-D]

Wow, Bufflehead -- that's some pile of resin! I look forward to hearing how this one goes, I've never tackled an all-resin model before. I got some Coree figures many years ago and they looked excellent.

Well, Australia Post delivered over the festive season and some more accessories arrived for my Jagdpanzer. Here are the Eduard PE set and Trakz damaged roadwheels (they look the same pattern as the wheels in the kit):

Photobucket" border="0" />

Now I need to find either treadplate or those decals (searched on Archer, haven't find them yet...) for that business with the Notek light. Does anybody know if there are Jagdpanzer IV L/70 marking options out there? I've looked through the lists for Bison and Echelon, no luck so far.

Cheers,

Mike/TB379

Well, that settles it... No more Academy kits... At least none that're available from other manufacturers who do include figures...  I'll probably model the Academy as knocked-out Flakpanzer sometime down the road... Now where'd I put that Tamiya kit?

Ernest I would say you have your work cut out for you.

Not as much progress as some of you have thoughtWink [;)]

Hull is pretty much together.  The fornt and back plate are resin repalcment.  The white plastic cheets are to fill in some ginormous openings into the hull under the fenders. Judges really hate thoseWink [;)]  I think all the "stuff" under the fenders with be covered with mud so between that and the shurzen it should be well concealed. The wheels are sanded and chumked up and I put a weld at the base of the exhaust pipe. I think it a bit large but it's a 1st for me.

ok, this is the dragon f2-g smart kit.this photo of the rear plate w/o mufflers in place ready for paint.the assembly is straight forward with no fit problems i noticed.watch your part call-outs as there are lots of un-used parts, depending on the period or version.here shows the drive sprocket test fitted to the output shaft.nicely detailed final drive housing and armoured housing guards.the drive sprocket is four pieces but assembles nicely.the bogey truck assemblies have a gigantic sprue attachment points that will make you say #@%$!!.but after a little clean-up they come around.the upper hull is dry fit only.be aware of the proper direction of the round covers at the mountings as they fit only one way but can be mixed up side to side.this view of the front is focused more on the firewall at the back of the fighting compartment.it is the kit part but modified to ressemble the firewall from th tankworkshop interior set.the white being added styrene detailsthis is just another angle of the same subject.a photo of the partially assembled main gun.not pictured is the drilled out machinegun opening to facilitate adding an mg34 rather than just the kit provided stubby.and finally a shot of a couple my reference materials.again as with all of my recent photos, they may be a bit blurry, tried re-sizing,camera settings.a little lighting but that perfect photo eludes me.anyone who may have a suggestion feel free.the camera is a samsung 6.0 megapixel with asr, model s630

Slow down guys! LOL I think I'm getting closer to starting assembly. Being a Tamiya kit, it should go together fairly quickly, but the Eduard Schurzen with PE racks will be a new adventure for me. (does a sign of the cross over a beading forhead)

Great progress gentleman, hopefully I can use you as an inspiration.

Seriously guys, I promise to get that godforsaken list updated some time in the next couple of days!!!

Couple of quick pics for you - first, the contents of the Tristar Ausf. B box - I HAVE to build it now, because it's NEVER going to fit back in there!

And my refs - I HIGHLY recommend both of these books - the second one is PACKED with quality pics of all of the A-J variants.
