Tanks guys,  wing_nut  Her name is Caitlyn Marie and here is a picture of her.

I know it is off topic but I will restrain myself to only one picture and then back to the builds here.

What, no mini-tanker helmet liner on her? Wow Moose, I guess I expected more. Big Smile [:D]

Warhammer - will put you down for that Ausf.D - looks like a sweeet kit. Thumbs Up [tup]

Espins - choices, choices! Let me know when you decide.

Panzer88 - either actual pics or drawings is fine, either of the real deal (or your kit). Just interested to see what you're working with.

Firesmacker - you're in with a J! No worries, indy links aren't as hard as they look with all of those good track toots.

Moose, congrats on the little one.  Thumbs Up [tup]  Even came with what looks like a little factory applied zim on the top!  Won't be long until she's sitting beside you gluing her fingers together.. Smile [:)]

Ok, Ill go with the Tamiya Panzer IV, Ausf D, kit #35096, and for my first foray into the AM world, I will use the ubiquitous but rather tame Tamiya PzKpfw IV On-Vehicle Equipment Set Big Smile [:D]

Will be researching color scheme, leaning towards DAK colors.....  will post my "spread" once it gets approved!

Well, I hope that list on the first page is accurate, because even though you said it is OK, I'm hopin' to do an original.

As soon as I post this, I'm flickin' over to e-bay and hittin' the Buy it Now button on DML 6314: Nashorn Premium Kit.  So there you go, that is my build.

Hi all,

I've located that missing carton from my stash and confirmed I have the Italeri Jagdpanzer IV L/70, Ostwind and a Dragon Hummel. The L/70 has been pulled out and I ordered Cavalier Zimmerit for it yesterday.

I see Guderian's Duck (and the Ostwind) have grills on top of the engine deck -- does anyone make PE screens for them, or are they supposed to be slatted? My reference material on these types is pretty thin but I've not come across grill sets for these subjects in a number of searches -- any pointers would be appreciated, while I Google this beast!

Cheers,

Mike/TB379

Just came across this -- searching on the L/70 I found a link to this story:

http://www.citizen.co.za/index/Article.aspx?pDesc=1,1,22&Type=top&File=080221171846.5v4ay6ax.xml

Interesting!

And here's the link for the Panzer IV pafe at Achtung Panzer!

http://www.achtungpanzer.com/panzerkampfwagen-iv.htm

It has a profile drawing of the H with Panther F turret, and a fascinating late color photo of Panzer IVs in Syrian markings. Doesn't that beg a diorama, Syrian Panzers against Israeli Shermans???

Mike

PS: Here's another potential subject: Jagdpanzer IV L/71 88mm -- Guderian's Duck with a taller superstructure and a bigger gun, she must have waddled like there was no tomorrow (can we say overladen chassis?)

Congrats Moose on the beautiful 1:1.

Thunderbolt, I've never seen grills over the engines before.

I believe they bought those from the French in the 50s and 60s, and they were used during the Six Day War.  I remember reading about those in a book I read on the Arab-Israeli wars.

I don't recall Panzer IVs in other clothes being bannedby the rules....  Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Hey Dupes,

I've got Dragon's auf E 3n1 that I'd like to build. Looking at the instructions, though it seems rather daunting. Might be a good thing if you don't have an end date, lol. Mine will be OOB as I don't think I'll need much am parts for this.

Hi Tigerman --

That would explain their absence from the AM lists -- they were never there! That simplifies things. I'm waiting on the zim, but keep wondering what else I can use to dress up this beast. I'm thinking back to The Hunters and I recall a mention of the Italeri L/70 mantlet being too rounded in shape. Maybe there's a replacement to be had out there. Hmmm, maybe some Eureka braided copper tow cables. Oh, and I'd better look at markings. Italeri provides too variants in the kit but doesn't provide any identification of them, just A and B. Infuriating when they do that, I'll need to do some research and figure out which is which. The more interesting of the two is marked only with zwei balkenkreutzeren, which is pretty slim on the decal side of things.

Cheers,

Mike/TB379

VERY interested myself - if you happen to find that issue anywhere Boyd, let me know. Or if any of the rest of you happen to have MMIR issue 45 kicking around...?

NucMedTech - well, there IS an end date, but it's a looooong ways away. Dec 31, '09. I'll put you down for the DML E 3-in-1.

JMart - an oldie but goodie! You're down for your D.

Pordoi - can't wait to see that built up...must be HUGE when it's done!

Hey Ernest...have you given any further thought to putting that Ausf. A down as your primary kit? I'm itching to write "Tristar Pz.IV Ausf. B" right next to it if you are. Wink [;)]

dupes,

If you google MMIR it'll take you to the publisher's website - Ampersand I think.  You can order it through them for about 10 bucks.  E-bay has it too...  I'm tempted...

Hey Dupes and bbrownii,

Looks to me like the MMIR article is a write up about Marco (Mike?) Rinaldi's build of the Panzer IV 88mm variant.  Before you spend the bucks on Issue 45, do a search for Rinaldi on the Missing-Linx Axis Discussion group.  I think that he was doing a build blog while he built this.  Might give you some additional info and pics.

dupes Did i read that right, you are going to run the build for the whole of next year.

Does anyone know if the Dragon StuG IV is still avalible. The only two i can find are the Tamyia and Academy kits. I know the tamiya is an old kit and i haven't done any Academy armour so have no idea what their kits are like. I am tempted to add a third given the amount of time we have, but seeing as the other Pz IV i have have been taken, i might well buy one for the build. And at the moment, its looking like either the StuG or the Sturmmpanzer.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Bish - the Dragon StuGIV is no longer in production, but they can be found quite frequently - check Ebay (I'm pretty sure that's where I got mine).

Warhammer - what the hey? I swear I added you. Will fix!

Stick Man - yeah, Dragon makes a C (as does Tristar, actually). It's a "super kit", though, so you've been officially warned!

Any thoughts on the badge yet dupes?  I had an idea, well for a background anyway, and was curious to see what 1,000 roadwheels really looked like. Problem is when you put it down to badge size you can't tell what is is at all.
