I saw that about the Aufs A also. Again, not a tank expert here but enjoy reading all the talk about the different marks etc. Then I noticed the add for a Trumpeter Aufs A. Is that the same tank, yes/no that everyone is talking about.

Again being a new tank guy around here, did you notice how many wheels this thing has, holy cow. How do you not go crazy working all the wheels. Any tips for mass production, sanding, painting etc.

i saw where you can use a screw that fits in the id of the roadwheel ,chuck the whole thing in a dremel and slowly remove the seam. as for painting im gonna use the template method.

Hey guys, that new Trumpeter release isn't a Pz IV, but a Pz VI.  VK.3001(H) was the designation of a new design of a medium tank to replace the Pz IV (that's why it looks so similar).  The VK.3001 and the concurrently developed VK.3601 design were the prototypes for the VK.4501 design...the Tiger tank!

Hey JMart, I've also got two old Tamiya Pz IV Ds!!  Last year I was planning on going all out and superdetailing one of them to bring the quality up to today's standards, the other one to do OOB just to see how it would look.  I was also thinking of doing the same as you with the paint schemes.  I guess great minds think alike!! LOL!Laugh [(-D]

Am I counting right?  Going by the roster on the front page (I know that some are missing from it) and including my 2 entries, we only have 640 roadwheels thusfar?  32 roadwheels and 20 subjects....

No this isn't meant to stimulate any sort of conversation, just give a little bump.

There are a couple of us still not listed for a kit so I still think we will get 1000.

s.a.r - If you're looking for a PE set for the Tamiya Pz IV Ausf J then both Aber and Eduard have them:

Aber - #35013 Pz.Kpfw.IV J Detail

Aber - #35A07 Pz.Kpfw.IV H/J/Brummbar Side Skirts

Aber - #35A67 Pz.Kpfw.IV J Upper Mesh Screens

--------------------------------------------------------

Eduard - #35595 Pz.Kpfw.IV J Mesh Schurzen

Eduard - #35342 Pz.IVJ Schurzen

Eduard - #35326 Pz.IVJ Detail Set

Don't know who has any of these in stock.  Try Great Models, or Squadron, etc.

Hope this helps!

bufflehead - hey perfect! :)  Im the newbie armor (well, anything newbie lol), so Ill do couple tamiyas IVs in monochrome before I graduate to camo and Dragon kits. For the panzer gray one, was going to learn how to paint a 'gradient', lighter in the middle, with preshade...never done that!  For the DAK, will use it to learn how to realistically chip paint....  I may even try and paint some figures for the first time. cheers  Make a Toast [#toast]

I just got a Hummel kit (Dragon 6004) with some nice extras! I saw that, that kit wasn't on the list, so I like to know if I can join with that kit?

Cheers,

Azgaron

stick man, if you're referring to the Neubaufahrzeug tank, I don't think that is a variant of the Pz IV.  I believe it was developed and produced earlier than the Pz IV. It DID use practically the same 75mm KwK L/24 gun though.  It turned out to be too slow and cumbersome for the Blitzkrieg tactics used by the Germans.  IIRC, some of its designs were used on the development of the Pz IV.  Of course I could be wrong about all of this!!  Tongue [:P]  Anyone have any more info on this tank:

Alright fellas, sorry for the delay, I haven't been kicking around the forum as much as I'd like to lately...and it seems that my crap dialup has been REALLY crappy lately! So here I am, poaching some real internet, trying to get all of my s%$t together.

Any of you that have "applied" in the past couple of weeks should be added to the front page - take a look to be sure I've accurately recorded you.

Wow, only 3ish weeks left until the GB starts (and Wing_nut jumps on his build). Need to get a badge sorted out...any good ideas? Anyone have any quality photos, preferably of more than one Pz. IV variant in the same shot?

Off to do the updating.

Azgaron - that Hummel is fine (although a much different kit than the more recent 2000's-era re-tooling), I already had you down for another kit - are you going to do 2 builds?

Ernest - I took the liberty of adding your Coree Ausf. A as a second build. Hope you don't mind, someone needed to do an A. Wink [;)]

By my count this puts us at 864 roadwheels, which means we need to round up 5 additional IV-chassis builds to push us over the edge. Anyone? Tell all of your friends - I can think of a few notables who are missing from the build list already.

dupes, of course I don't mind the addition of the Coree kit!  I also noticed that you made the Tristar Ausf. B as your entry!  Hecka cool dude!  Thumbs Up [tup]

Now correct me if I'm wrong but I don't see either an Ausf. C or an Ausf. F listed.   If that's the case I'd be willing to switch my Tristar Ausf. D to one of the missing versions.  Yes, that would mean making the Ausf. A my main build!  I know its a full resin kit, but really.....how hard can it be??

Did I just bite off more than I can chew??

I have been making a dent on my Tamiya stash while I keep buying Dragon/AFV kits on sale ;)

bufflehead - I said i was going to attempt to paint figures, not necessarily show them! ;)  I figured (pun intended!) that a good first one to attempt would be those Tamiya ones...

welcome back dupes! Ill do two IV Ds (same Tamiya kit), one PG one DAK, so you can add another 34 or whatever wheels ;)  Ill take a pic of the sprues and assorted goodies in a few, I wont start till Jan/Feb after I get some other stuff done including starting that, ahem, 251...Whistling [:-^]

Hey Dupes,

Don't make yourself invisible, guy.  We need you to keep these GBs active.  If you need someone to do another P_IV to make 1000, let me know.  My arm can be twisted...... ouch!! stop already.  Wink [;)]

I'll start off with the Tamiya kit, and then, if there's still time left, I'll start with the Hummel!
As long as it works within the theme for this GB, it's Ok with me! Smile [:)]

dupes

How many more do you need to reach 1,000?  I might be convinced to do my Tamiya Mobelwagen.  Wbill did such a nice build-up of it last summer, I've kind of been eyeing mine...  Might grab some 'extras' after the holiday...

So, lets see, that would put us at... 936, right?

Hi guys,

Excuse my silence but for the last 24 hours I've been unable to open FSM at all -- not sure why, it was like the web was moving at a crawl, I was timing out before I could even load the homepage, never mind log in! Anyway, it seems to have cleared at this point.

My Cavalier Zimmerit set for the Jagdpanzer has arrived and looks excellent. Hopefully tomorow I'll have a chance to pose the kit and all accessories together for a 'family portrait' ahead of time. I'm really looking forwar to ripping into this one.

It's a good, long build and I'd be very happy to contribute another subject at a later date. I can offer an Academy IVH or J (not sure which, probably ex-Tamiya, early), Italeri Ostwind, Dragon Hummel or Tamiya Mobelwagen, though I've long fancied a late-tool Tamiya H or J as well, and maybe a D in winter cammo. There's certainly no shortage of subject matter to choose from. Oh, and I was really hoping to do a StuG IV in zimmerit as well!

Let me get the L/70 done and I'm sure I can add something else to the mix.

Cheers,

Mike

Hey Marc...good to see you 're still out and about.  I was worried you may have gotten caught in a snow storm on the bike and was living out the movie "Misery" for real.

I have always been a start and finish builder, no changing horses inthe middle of the stream.  Holiday stuff is keeping me away form the bench as much as Iwould like to be so the pair of P-39's I am working on is taking longer than usual. I may not be able to start until the 2nd of JanWink [;)]

If you have not seen it already, check out the massive amount of photos given to Wikipedia by the German Federal Archive.  I'll bet you can find something there. Some of the best quality photos form the war I have seen.

T-bolt.... have you used Cav zim before?  I've used it twice and will use it onthis build.  It's great stuff. You're going to love it.
