Hey not fair, I wasn't ready! just kidding. "The Blue Max" is in the DVD player and everthing is set. All I need to do is hit the play button, and then I can get started. Looking forward to seeing some wonderful builds from everybody. Now if I could just find my Xacto knife...

Pavlvs and Simon L- Sign - Welcome [#welcome] fellas!  I added you to the list on page one.  Get ready for some here, as we kick this off very soon! Big Smile [:D]

Great tip on the annealing using the home oven, a lot safer than trying to heat it over an open flame.  Thanks for the tip! Thumbs Up [tup]

Here's another tip for you when it comes to annealing brass. Watch for a cast iron creape pan in a yard sale, and clean it till it's bare metal. Lay the brass sheet on it, and then put's some hex nuts ontop of it (something for a 1/2" threads is fine, and if you can get brass ones your better off) to keep it flat. Put this in the oven at 375 to 400 degrees for about thirty minutes. Then turn the heat off. It shouldn't warp or twist, and the cast iron will suck the heat out of the brass very slowly making for a better annealing job. No matter what your much better off letting the brass cool in the closed oven.

Oh how did I miss this?  I'd like to jump in with a Roden 1:72 Albatros D.II.  The rigging is the only thing that worries me.  That is where I am stuck on my Nieuport Ni16.  THe Roden directions don't show a lot on the rigging.  I might just have to jump in head first and see what happens.

Only 6:15pm here, but what the hey, if Frank says it's a go, then what's to stop me (except for a certain auburn-haired beauty and a juicy prime rib roast cooking in the oven Wink [;)]).

I'll be a week late getting started on my Fokker D-VI.  I'm going to finish up the NF-104 I'm working on first.  (See thread in aircraft forum for more info.)

Geez, Stephen, you didnt hang about did you. Its looking fantastic so far. I love corrugated planes and the interior looks amazing. The cable runs really make for the extra interest. Very nice indeed.

Do you know if theres a good toot on doing the Lozenge decals on mine, (Im not there yet BTW) as i cant work oput from the instructions wether the things but up together with the rib tape joining them or they overlap? Also the destrfuctions dont make it clear (To mwe anyhow) wether you put one top loz then one bottom loz... oooh im confused. I thought these things were sposed to make it easy.

ok,so maybe i started a little early as well!,but only a couple of daysSmile [:)]

i'm doing the fokker dr.1 dual combo and i thought as i'm doing one i might as well build both at the same time.one has a lighter interior than the other as i didn't know which one i would like and very slight weathering.

i havn't decided on the colour schemes yet but one will probably be udets.

p.s. i can see i'm going to end up buying a couple more of these dr.1 dual combo kits as they go together really well.

Here is a bit of fun on the application of lozenge / Flugzeugstoff fabic for models.  It will have some nomenclature as well. Also I am of the opinion with the Fokkker D.VII that lozenge rib tapes were one piece around the rib profile.  Solid colour tapes were certainly one piece.  Click  here for Lozenge 101

Thanks Frank!  Here is the installation of the cockpit and pilot's left wing with the truss spars.  The wing spar truss works are to be slipped in the corresponding angled slots created by the wing truss works.

Hi All,

This really is some inspirational work. Please add me to the list for a 1/48 Sopwith Pup, Eduard.

Does it  have to be completed in WW1 colour scheme, or is a post war scheme acceptable ?

Cheers

Tony

I'm just taking it one GB at a time.

Guy- Even when you're sick you can still model at lightning speed!  Excellent work on the wood grain effects, you're are proving once again that there is nothing you cannot model. Thumbs Up [tup]

Tony- Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the GB!  I added you to the list, feel free to use the post war markings.  As long as it is not something like, say, F-16 Aggressor markings! Wink [;)]

Not for this GB, but I've had it in mind for a while to do a Fokker Triplane in Australian F/A-18A colours.

I'll save that for the 'Lost My Mind GB' which must be coming soon.

Cheers

Hey daywalker, just picked up a quart of Future. In a round about way that's what I've been doing with the "Acrylic Gloss" coat. Thanks for the tip. I'll be able to afford new paint brushes or maybe get a new tip/cone for the VP. Shot a coat and it looks all shiny and new and smells nice too!

The 1/48 Eduard E.V arrived the same day I'd decided to begin the Camel.

the rigging is out of the tackle box. 2lb. test monofilament. It measures .005". I used 4lb. on the Albatross and the Nieuport. The 4lb. measures out .008 a little thick, but does the trick. I would have liked to checked the dia. of 1lb, but was unable to locate any. I found the 2lb. easier to work with than the 4. Thanks for asking and checking in.

hey Gunnar, looking forward to seeing the Hanriot and Spad.

 Mobious

P.S. I'll try not to post anymore incomplete pics.

wyoroy, Thanks for the compliment.

That stand has a story all of its own. Sort of a work in progress. I bought the stand from Squadron and changed the nasty paint eating alligator clips out for a couple of the very useful clips from the Tamiya paint stand, added an extension and another swivel. When I rigged the Albatross DIII, It had only one clamp and no extension, but worked. It works a lot better with the additional clamps and swivels. Theres no need to move the project from the "Bigger Rigger Jig" until everythings done. I told myself that I wouldn't post anymore incomplete pics, but this is a pic of the Albatross DIII I rigged and it is finished, so this one doesn't count.

Sorry the pic isn't very good but, I had to stop a get a pic of it with all the hardware hanging off of it. Note: Only one clamp is holding the model.Confused [%-)]
