All finished up.  Here is my RoG 1/48th Ka-50.  I added some "straps" made from masking tape painted to match the tarp.  Other than that everything else is the same.  Good enough for me!!

Up next (I think) will be my RoG 1/48th Me-110.

Happy Holidays,

Matt

Alright guys, here are the awaited pics! I just poured the resin and am now waiting for it to harden a bit so I can get the splash effect. The resin is "Magic Water" and the green thing I mixed the stuff in was the cap to bottled 5 gal drums of water (Hinkely). More to come tomorrow!

I like what I am seeing so far! Models are getting done! They look really good too. Most of the ones I have to finish look like poo doo! Probably why they aren't finished! As far as the Hood goes I am having at it! Almost at the momentum of the 48 hour GB!  I wish I had my amera but my daughter borrowed it.  Letting the paint dry and adding stuff from the spares to cope with missing things.  You would,t recognize it! So glad we didn't go sink it in the river way back when.

Never had a river close by to sink ships but I used to hang my airplanes from a tree and shot them down with my pellet gun. What a waste of plastic but it was fun! Propeller [8-]

Ernest - Spectacular Thumbs Up [tup] How is the kit overall ? I just bought this kit and a 1/35 Dragon M4A2 off ebay last week for hardly nothing. (I like this time of year, hardly no one bids against you ) It will be nice to see one being built so I can make sure I dont do something wrong.

Not sure when I will start on mine as I have some catching up to do first Whistling [:-^] Then Roy  had to show off those P-40's so that got me to drooling and cracked open a HawseG P-40N and started on that.

Be safe on your Travels my Friend and Have A Wonderful Christmas !

Sean, you have to agree that P-40s just look fantastic with the nose art that some carry.  Perhaps late next year you could host a P-40 GB?  There was one before but I have no idea how long ago.

I going to use the booth for the first time.  Spraying a clear coat so that I can do the panel lines on the P-40Big Smile [:D]

I just noticed that I never painted the yellow tips on my P-40Dunce [D)]

What would happen if I sprayed clear coat on the canopy?  Should I mask the canopy first?

I believe you would be Very Unhappy with the results.

Use a low tack masking tape or Frisket Film to mask it off.

I was thinking that it would be bad.  I may just cover the whole canopy with low tack tape.  I just need to keep over spray off.

Looks like I'll finally have time this week to finish this build. So here's my first update on my 1/100 Tamiya Messerschmitt ME 163B. Yes, I know the kit comes with a Messerschmitt 262, but I scrapped that one about two years ago. Whistling [:-^]....Never a good idea to start such a small scale when your just starting out.

Not many parts in this kit, most were for the 262, nevertheless still got some work to do. I painted the pilot a few years ago, when I barely knew how to paint, so now I have to go back and touch it up. Not to mention fix where the wings connect to the fuselage, too big of a gap. Nevertheless, I think this build will come along nicely, but it will be my first aircraft build that I actually paint and finish. So it won't be amazing, just hoping for it to not be an eyesore.

As always all comments, questions, and suggestions welcome. Smile [:)]

Nothing wrong with that. Heck, that's why I bring someone with me whenever I goto Hobby Lobby, that way I can use two 40% coupons. Making the savings that much sweeter.Wink [;)]

Well I pretty well curtailed my other stuff for last night and today. Worked a little on a 109 between drying times.  Here is where I am I think it is quite a diff from yesterday!.

Everything is kept simple as possible. The portholes are simply painted on. The colors may or may not be so accurate. They follow the original Lindberg scheme which is what I wanted and would have done in 1978.  No photo etch no drilling out the barrels just a simple enjable build. Perhaps I weatered te hull a bit better than I could when I was 12. My pla is to keep in the spirit of y twele year old self and make it how I would have wanted to back then. Using my own 12 year old as a guinea pig for the cool factor.

Got the clear coat drying to seal the paint and parts. I added some of those old Heller ship rails. No PE here baby! Old school loving!

I have run into many of the old mast being brittle and will have to work some magic maybe with metel tubing. Like I said more about having fun and getting her done. I can have that luxery with such an old kit that falls so short by todays standards not to great even then but the cool factor made it worth an effort just to have a big Battle Cruiser!

I am guessing you all know it's history?

Aaron, she's looking great.  Makes me want to build a ship.

Matt, I added the KA-50 pic to the roster.

Sean, is your HE-111 finished?  If so post a good pic and I'll post it to the roster.

If I have missed any finished builds that are not on page one PLEASE let me know and I will fix it.

I have to say from the pics that have been psoted there is some great work out there.  I feel lucky to be able to host the No More Excuses GB.  I would have to so that thanks to you guys this is a great GB so far.

Roy, yes the HE-111 is finished , I will take a picture later today for you. I have kits spread out everywhere as I was hunting for a Wirraway kit . No luck finding one - my Wife and I were both amazed that out of that mess not a one. Sigh [sigh]

All right calling her done. I had a blast (no pun intended) with this ship!  Mostly because I went back to that age when It was an arms race between me and the other kids on the block! So here she is  the 1/350? something Lindberg Hood bought in 1978 and just finished.

Nothing too much really to show boat about but I made a real effort only to use and add things I would have back then. May have cheated with some superglue accelerator but don't tell. This is a big Model as She was a big Grand Ship in life. Everytime I look at it I think , only 3 survivors. So many gone so quickly. The whole Bismark ? Hood saga was a terrible testiment to what war really is. Probably the most epic Naval Battle ever! Certainly up there near the top.

Haveto find another subject to finish now! one down many more to go!  Banged Head [banghead]
