Holy cow I am 5 days behind!!!!!!

WHY IS EVERYBODY YELLING!!!!!!! AHHHHHH! THE STRESS OF IT ALL TOTAL HYSTERIA!!!!!!

Sprue is broken and I am on something like step 2. Not a whole lot to this kit really? Looks a lot like a Revell kit or not very much newer in age although the moldings are ok on mine, not warped. A mix of raised and recessed details as well and a very simplified pit with most details molded on.

This is the Hasegawa 1/32 scale Galland  262 in case I ferget!

So I am realizing as I did with the 109GB about how ignorant I am on the basics of this aircraft, colors details types, extc. Should be a great learning experience!  Again.  Going to recheck a link Summit sent me on this kit but if you see me messing up holler but do it quick I am on a roll!

Frank I have never had so many things going at once here ! What ya doing to me? LOL!

Guy? You done yet?

Hi all,

Okay, kit is open and cockpit is underway! I see Tamiya recommend XF-63 as a close match to RLM 66. What I'm not a fan of is the fact they don't give you straight RLM paint references, it'll take a bit of matching up to figure out what they mean by their mixing codes. That said, Tamiya have sure pulled all the stops out when engineering this thing -- a moulded metal insert for the nose gear bay to serve as weight rather than suggesting you shoe-horn lead in anywhere you can, that's thinking ahead!

Here's the box art:

Photobucket" border="0" />

I bought it off eBay, it's complete except the decals, someone has taken a selection from them, and unfortunately the white upper wing crosses correct for Heinz Barr's Red 13 (the one I'm doing) are gone. There's also a sheet from the Tamiay A-2a in the box as well, again partially used. I might be able to patch the scheme together.

Here's a look at some of the paperwork:

Photobucket" border="0" />

I would also like to take this opportunity to be the first to offer research data for the talented team assembled for this build. Here are the best dozen shots of the 262 on display at the RAF Museum Hendon, when I visited three years ago. Enjoy, and I hope they're useful.

Laugh [(-D]  Maybe I'll search for some photos of the first -262 which flew with a piston engine, then I CAN paint a spinner! Propeller [8-]

Aaron- Right on, we'll keep a close watch on you!  So far, so good! Approve [^]

Mike (TB379)- Those really are some good reference photos, thank you for sharing them!  I took a couple of photos of the -262 at the USAF Museum a couple of years ago, but the lighting there is so dark that good photos are difficult. Disapprove [V]

Frank even though Mike may have given this GB start date a kick in the rear I do'nt think you would have been able to hold this crowd of till the end of the month either way. To many go getters in here! I bet half of theses builds will be done before you or me are even half done with ours. I may move slow but when I do it is with a purpose! Then again I finally dipped into my shake and bake stash for once instead of the short run sand to fit scratch build stash so mabye I can get something build in less than six months.Big Smile [:D]

Oh and Sarge do'nt forget I'm watching you!Big Smile [:D]

I have been eyeballing this GB for a little while and you might as well count me in Frank! I will be doing Revell's 1/72 B-1a/U1 offering in the markings of Leutnant Herbert Altner's "Red 12". If I can get my hands on a Tamiya A-1a, I might also include that and build it into Heinz Bär's one-off A-1a/U5.

Crusher- I think you are right on the nose there!  These guys are like a bunch of caged animals; tempted by the lure of styrene and paint fumes.  Some of these fellas will be posting finished pics before we even decide which part to cut off first! Shock [:O]  Something tells me since you are building one of those shake-n-bake kits, you're gonna be finishing yours about the same time as Aaron and Guy. Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Brendan- Right on, Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to the GB!  Hope you're ready for some good old fashioned model building and fun.

OK fellas, the new work room, with the exception of the floor (solid concrete - needs a whole year to fully cure before covering it) and a few strips of trim, is officially open for business. Can't wait to break 'er in by diving into this GB!

Here's a few pics to let you (and my wife!) know where to find me (one 'before' pic, then panning left to right).....

Hey Is Frank in here!  FRANKKKKK!!!!!

Oh Hi Steve and Mike and SC!  was just looking for Frank.  I couldn't remember which pill to take tonight so I tried one of each.

Frank!!!!!!!!! ( screaming in my Jack Nicholson voice from the Shining!)Evil [}:)]Big Smile [:D]

Some in progress picks because I was inspired!!!!!!

Completed and touched up the fuselage Subassemblys and added some details. Circut breaker boxes were missing and I added them and some wires over the molded on ones in the gun bay. Jazzef them up with some gun looking paintwork and drilled out the muzzles.

Thumbs Up [tup]

Added some colors and paint details to the IP. No decal and it was kinda bleak like an old revell kit but  hey a little love goes a long ways.

Once the paint is good N dry I'll burnish some # 2 pencil lead on the black barrels and greenish gray chutes to give a good metal look to it. Propeller [8-]

The Fuse halfs like luftwaller said are very warped. Ejector pins and sprue attachment points are oddly placed and leave big lumps right on the join seam that must be carefully removed.  Guess you were supposed to just look at the box and not try and build it. Banged Head [banghead]

But with the same tough love and attention that I enjoy and exhude I was able to get all the tricky sub assemblys to line up and joined the halfs which is where I shall leave it to dry tonight.

Hey if anyone sees Frank will you please tell him I am looking for him. Thanks and hugs to all!

FRANK!!!!!

Thanks SC! Thumbs Up [tup]. It's gonna be nice to work in a scale other than 1:1 and not have to pull out the power tools.

....and 'hey' back atcha, Aaron!! Guess what? I'm looking for Frank too! Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Hey Frank!! Now I know what happens when you haven't sat at a hobby bench for months on end. I took a look at the Academy kit I planned on doing here, and it seems I'm a lot further along on the build than I previously thought - far enough that to me it defeats the spirit of the GB. On the bright side though, I still have a long way to go on the 1/32 Trumpeter Me262A-1a (only the 'pit and one engine are complete), so with your permission, I'd like to change my entry to the big guy if I may. Many thanks, buddy! Thumbs Up [tup]

(...and I now know I need arms on this chair. Fell off three times from laughing when I was trying to play catch-up on this thread!!)

Geez Rudratt, that man cave of yours looks stunning. Im loving the paintbooth fitted to the wall. Im soo jealous. My man pit starts off all lovely neat and shiney...i open the box of the 'next in line', turn around and theres mayhem and debris a go go. I dont know about the rest of you but, i start with a lovely clean bench with loads of space and come the end, im working in a space thats about 3"x 3"

Mike- That hobby room is awesome!!!  I am quite envious my friend.  With a room like that, I would never leave the house. Big Smile [:D]  I updated your build with the Trumpeter kit, looking forward to seeing it!

Steve- Glad you found us over here!  Sorry you missed opening day, but there's plenty o' time to build.  I added you and your Schwalbe to the list! Thumbs Up [tup]

Aaron- I'm here!  Needed to get my beauty sleep, ya know? Zzz [zzz]  Excellent progress on your 262, I'll be enjoying this!

Guy, that Trumpeter kit is a monster. Got a feeling I'll be down to 3x3 in no time. Wink [;)]

Frank, there was even consideration of adding a microwave and a small fridge, but I figured starving myself might be the only way to drag my can outta there!

Aaron, stunning work so far! Guy nailed it concerning the gun bay, and 'pit looks spot on as well! Nicely done!! Thumbs Up [tup]

I love that work area!  Too hot here in the summer and winter for that matter to hide in the Garage for too long. Heat index is 106 for today! Someone remind me it is OCT!

The past few hours are a blurr to me?  What happened?

Guy did you do a gun bay I missed?  All I remember is looking at a Corsair Mirror ? I am so confused.  ACK!  Things are off the chart!

106!!? Shock [:O] Yikes!! I'm guessing snow throwers aren't big sellers in your neck of the woods. Wink [;)]

We've had frost every morning for the past 5 days, and everything above 5000ft has plenty of the white stuff covering it. It's a comin'! We've been known to have over 2ft of it on the ground before the end of October. Happened just a few years back.
