DoogsATX

Solid work, Trey! Still in awe of how fast you can build and still maintain those kind of results!

Ditto...she`s a beauty! Looks like you used the streaking technique to weather the topside?

First part of the octopus arms done. Tomorrow I'll mask the ridges and paint the Willow Green. Figure the Euro Dark Green can act as shading, too...

Man that is a big amount of allu in that wing! Very nice :-)

I freehanded the cammo onto my Dak, I was not in mood to mask, so the feathered edge is to soft.Such is the price for being lazy LOL!

The Humbrol 29 dark earth is to dark and I added some white and cream to make it "faded", as for the green I used Modelmaster French Khiki.

To my untrained eye it looks purdy darn close. I now need to re-attach the rudders structure that I broke of handling the thing!

A load of antennas need to be made as the kit does not supply them.

Lookin' good, Len! Mossies give me weathering fits because of all that wood construction. May want to pay extra attention to the wheels when you dull coat. They look pretty shiny - in my experience some pigments (MIG Russian Earth is my favorite for tires) both dirties them up just the right amount and dulls them dead flat.

That octopus is the real "green monster" LOL!  (Sorry, couldn't resist - it does look awsome)

The Mozzy holds a special place for me, the SAAF operated them in all PRU blue, looked nice. I must say you have a very interesting backyard, I like it, no grass to mow LOL.  Not knowing the US, I assume NY is up north east ans so the canall would freeze over in winter?  good for skating with the young'ens.

I have added a few "towl rail" and blade antennas to the Dak, I now just need to build the anti Sterlla exhausts and the fabric on the tail.

Here is a tip for you guys - when busy with a model ,don't clean up the box of old pieces of spare sprue ect. before EVERYTHING in firmly glued on. I had to raid the dustbin yesterday to find the bits of the rudder's strukture that broke off when painting !

Trey and Theuns, thanks for the kind words for my Mossie!

Theuns...I still have a small backyard and front yard with grass  I still get to mow...lol. I live in New Jersey about 100 miles south of New York. They call the "canals"  "Lagoons" around here and they do freeze up but rarely hard enough to skate on...it`s salt water and has to be an extra cold winter to do that.

Watup y'all

I am hard at work to get the C-47 completed by tomorrow. That would then be exactly 26 years to the day that the Sam vs. C-47 incedent took place.

Pix to follow.

Sprayed Alclad on the gear struts and wheels and stuff last night, and did a bit of blending work by hitting the entire aircraft with very heavily thinned Tamiya Deck Tan and Tamiya RAF Medium Gray (literally, paint stirrer dipped into paint, then stirred into a cup of thinner...).

Glossing will probably come tonight or tomorrow. Depends when I decide to deal with overspray in the gear bays...

Well... I managed to get another Mosquito and I'm back in the game.  I have a few things done so far.  I put a coat of primer on the underside surface of the wings, painted ther props and tires (Still not sure if it is going to be gear up or down.), and glued in the pilot seats.  Later today I will try and get the instrument panels painted.  Here's a few images. (I am just doing the MK. IV Bomber version.)

Here are the main parts before painting was started.

Here are the rest of the parts.  You can't see them, but the decals are in great shape..  Especially for a bird this old.

This was taken right after painting.  It is actually Flat Black, not gloss.

Seats glued in prior to painting.  I like to install the seats before painting on this kit.  The contact point between the seats and the attachment points on the flight deck are so small that even the tiniest specs of paint can seriously hamper ones ability to get a good strong join.

That's it for now, More Images will be postes as the project moves along.

Theuns - Man that is awesome! I need to do a battle damaged bird one of these days. Front page updated.

Rich - you going to change your entry to the Mossie?  Is that the 1/48 Revell or 1/32 Revell version?  You're off to a great start!

It's the 1/48 scale Revell/Monogram kit.  It will be OOB.  I just put some more primer on it.  :)

Doogs, that look great. Was this Octopus scheme a one of or was it common amongst these aircraft.

It was a marking device used by one squadron. Need to recheck my refs, but it was either VPB-133 or 150.  Their nickname was the "Devilfish Pviators". It's my theory that one of them went on to found Price Pfister. Anyway, "Sea Deuce 2" got left behind when they redeployed at some point, and reassigned to the other squadron, but it kept the octopus because, well, it's totally awesome.

Thanks, and ye, it is awsome.

I had no idea what Price Pfister was, so i just did a google search. It gave me a company that sells faucet's (taps in English). Would this be what you are reffering to.
