Guys,

Just FYI, the ram air intake port at the left wing root is not rendered correctly, at least on my B-52D model. The model has it extending into the upper wing, similiar to the input port near the pylon. However, the port should only be on the lower wing root, as shown below. To correct this, you'll need to fill in the upper section.

Ouch Dom.  I had a 1974 Chevy Malibu Station Wagon when I was younger.  It was my first car.  A huge beast of a thing with a big V8 engine.  I was married to my first wife at the time and she was out driving it and the master cylinder let go.   Luckily she didn't hit anyone, which for her was surprising in and of itself.  They had to tow it back to our place and I had to go to the junk yard and find a replacement and put it in myself.  It was not good...  That car went through a lot of parts.  Radiator, Master Cylinder, 2 alternators, a full set of chocks, and a starter.  Oh yeh and the engine timing chain cover which was the only repair that was covered under the warranty...  That car finally died on route 128 in Manchester MA.  Driving down the highway I heard a funny noise so I pulled into the break down lane to find out what it was.  I didn't see any problems so I started up again and was just about to pull back out on the Highway when I heard this huge BANG!  I swear I thought someone shot us with an RPG it was so loud and the car immediately started pulling to the left.  I managed to keep it roughly straight and stopped again in the break down lane.  I got out and looked and I saw my left rear wheel and part of the axle rolling across the highway and into the woods on the other side.  It also ripped open my gas tank when it blew off.  That was the end of my first car....  And my last $20 worth of gas.

Back on topic.  I'm going to try and get some more work done on the Hobby Boss kit today after I get back from the Doctor's office.  I have a major issue with the front landing gear doors.  When closed, they seem to leave a gap a full 1/4" wide between them.  So I will be doing some bashing to fix the situation.  All the other doors fit like a glove though.  I can't make up my mind on using sheet styrene or just trying to putty it.  Putty would have the advantage of giving a bit more weight to the nose.  I'll keep you all posted.

Was on the beach about an hour ago and it was crazy windy, I could barely walk against it. Still the storm is supposed to skip here and hit down in NY so I think I'm safe here. Crazy weather though.

Russ: Thanks for that info, another item to make it look more accurate Given the wrinkles on that grand old lady's face, I would say you definitely did not over-do your detailing, it'll look great when done. So I just checked and had to pick up my BUFF, why do I always feel like a kid again when I pick up an airplane?

Ken: I think it's going to look good even if they aren't super accurate. I thought Berny had taken a picture of an open Aux when we were in Dayton, but I couldn't find it.

Rich: That is a huge gap! It sounds as though it were a three piece, but how could it be? Hey, I blew up a Munice 4-Speed tranny, the stick was over-worn and it was in third, not first, when I popped the clutch at high rpm's.....427 Rochester QuadraJet, I could see the parts literally blow through the weeds...lol....I wasn't laughing at the time though, I'm sure you didn't find the wheel ripped off your car very funny back then either...We hope your doctor's visit wasn't too painful.

And thanks guys. The hurricane is supposed to keep moving up coast till it hits the mid-Atlantic states so I'm fine down here. Funny, it's windy as heck but no rain. Surf is wild though, I've got some photos but I'm not sure yet how to link photobucket pics to this site. This new Droid phone I'm posting with is great but wish they'd given a real manual. Guess I should look for one online.

I have the hole enlarged enough in the other fuselage for the auxiliary air intake to fit through.  I went ahead and fit the pieces together so that I could get an idea of how it was shaping up.  Here is how it looks so far (nothing is glued):

I will need to enlarge the original openings in the wing on the outboard sides so that the inside rail is showing like the other two parallel ones are.  I will also have to thin the plastic in the wing so there isn't a gap showing.

I can't finish a project for a year or 5, so I have about 10 on the go, but F-4P' stands for P'riority right now.

4 years since I painted anything with the air-brush.

I refined the floor of the intake ducts again tonight, it's almost there. i still get the feeling that no matter how hard I try to get the paper template right, I'll end up wasting one for dry fit anyways....

I'm trying to figure the best way to seal the ducts smooth and paint the insides white.

Hmmmm.....2016.....nothing planned yet.....hmmmm....lol...

I discovered that the easiest way to cut out the ailerons and keep them straight on the B-52 model is to cut from the bottom of the wing following the edges of the flaps. The aileron outline on the bottom seems to be more correct that those on top. There will be some ragged edges on the top wing, flaps and top of the aileron, but you can fill and sand these.

Hi Everyone,

After measuring the opening in the wings for the auxiliary air intakes I realized that they were already the correct size.  So that meant I needed to move the boxes inboard.  That meant more cutting on the fuselage.  Since there wasn't very much remaining between the hole already cut and the edge, I simply removed the small strip all together:

I also cut out a squared area in the inside of the wing where the boxes will mount so they will be flush:

 I mounted the boxes to the wing using tape to get an idea of how they are going to look:

Here is a picture looking at an angle that you would be more apt to see the auxiliary air intakes from once the doors are mounted:

Next on the agenda is to start cutting and fitting the fuselage for the Aires cockpit!
