And here are the pics as promised. Just snapped these on the workbench. Will get some better final pics of both birds when the A8 rolls off the bench.

And a few with the flash on to show the dirt and grime on the gear and in the wells.

And a couple of shots at home next to Dortenmann's D-9,

This particular boxing of the weekend edition D-9 was a challenge. There were definitely some QC issues with the moldings which Eduard rectified immediately. Lots of flash on the grey styrene and some warping, and filled in solid locating points. In the end I think it is a passable build although far from perfect.

Well, the Dora is done! A few more steps on the A8 and it will be done as well. Will be uploading the Dora pics shortly!

I just got a set of those on ebay for my Tamiya 1/48 F-8. They look really nice.

They are PE. I didn't know they offered fabric belts. Hmm

They're still fairly new, this is the image from their website.  I know Eagle Editions offers die cut paper seat belts that you thread through the buckles.

Everybody: Well I'm finished with the cockpit and movin on to the tailwheel bay that I opened up. Heres the progress on the pit:

Tankster, that most certainly is a great-looking 190. Love your finish work.

Joe, cockpit looks great! Which seatbelt did you use?

Tankster - Fabulous 190! Just excellent. Now, come join us with another and show your WIP.

Joe - Looks like your off and running with another outstanding 190. Splendid job on the cockpit.

Awesome work on that White 12, Doug. You've captured the look of that D superbly. Thats some nice work on the opened panels.

I gotta look at another 190 for this GB. Imagine, I used to hate the 190 and after building with you guys now I have some strange attraction to the Butcher Bird.

Bill.

On the bench:  Lindberg 1/32 scale 1934 Ford Coupe and a few rescue projects.

In queue:  Tamiya 1/35 Quad Tractor or a scratch build project.

Hey Mike, Thank You for the pics/preview. That definitely does the trick in getting me amped for a visit. My wife will still be there next summer so I will be blowing off a Xmas trip and instead visit during the "Flying" season. I mean, c'mon, there's priorities involved here.Big Smile

JOE RIX

Okay, This is simply unbelievable. My wife skyped me from Seattle last night and tells me "We're going to a vintage airshow tomorrow. And I so wish you were here." She wasn't really sure  what exactly it was all about just that my stepson in law wanted to go. I told her that was awesome. to enjoy herself and take lots of pictures for me. Well, she skypes me today to tell me that she felt really really bad that I was not there as they went to the Flying Heritage Museum in Everett, Wash. to see Luftwaffe Day. Yup, she got to see a Storch, Me 109 E-3, and this,

the only flying FW 190 A-5 in the world. Each of them doing a flight demonstration. I was dumb founded. She said that she now has a much better appreciation for my passion for aircraft and modeling. She thoroughly enjoyed herself. Not to mention she said" Wow, they're louder than a NASCAR race". That's my gal. If you are not familiar with this museum check out their website. They also have the only FW 190 D-13 in existence. They don't fly it due to it's rarity. Needless to say I will be going there at X-mas.

Joe,

I feel similar to you in that I had planned to visit the Flying Heritage Collection one week later! I guess timing is everything after all. The place is awesome, even if nothing is flying. I made a separate post in the aircraft forum here. Here’s a preview:

Flying Heritage Collection 2013-08-24 at 12-17-44 HDR

Flying Heritage Collection 2013-08-24 at 10-23-08 HDR

Maybe next year? I’d love to see this thing fly!

Best regards,

Mike

My work area has become such a mess (again), I barely have room for my one tiny 190. Housekeeping time, I suppose.

Yes, that's a LOT of 190s on my bench, but I ain't tryin' to build a Staffel, just as many 190s I can fit on my bench without blocking my working area!

That usually happens when I get more than ONE at a time on the bench!!!!!! lol

Man, all I know is that for me that would be crossing the line between a relaxing hobby and an assembly line. More power to ya Clemens.

Doug, What can I say other than your D-9 is simply stellar. You have produced what I can only describe as a jaw dropping, eye popping piece of AWESOME!

Doug, fantastic work! Man that thing just came alive with that stunning paint job. I really like your rlm 81 brown interpretation. I gotta say this is your best 190 yet for the build!

All,

Since the GB has been extended I think I will throw my hat back in the ring with the Hobby Boss 1/48 Ta-152 C1/R14.  I have it pulled out of the box and have begun to assemble the cockpit.  will try to get some pics up sometime this week.

Matt
