Alright my friends... For all intents , the Eduard Fw 190-D that I started is complete, I am posting pictures with the base not yet complete and will post totally finished pictures when the base is done.Over all I enjoyed this kit... So much that I'm in the process of getting another one (or 2) . The build went smoothly with no major problems, and the only real challange was the Aires resin engine fit to this kit , keeping in mind that it was not designed to have an engine mounted in it.

I had never seen a slipper tank until now.Huh?  So are these temporary tanks and what did they do to the a/c performance?

The slipper tanks were only tested. There were several arrangements tested, but none were brought into service. They were fixed to the wings and produced a 2% drop in airspeed as opposed to 7.4% with underbelly tanks. But of course the underbelly tanks were dropped once the enemy was engaged.

It would be nice to see one with these fitted.

I've read about 190's with these and although it does absolutely nothing for the good looks of this aircraft it would definitely be apart from the norm!!

Waaaaa! Waaa! Boo Hoo  I did it again!  Help me!

Got it for $15.00  I don't think I'll use the slipper tanks,  I'll probably use it with the Eagle Cals decals for JG10 the snake squadron.

I will try to have pictures of the A-8 I'm currently working on tomorrow.  attaching LG and dull coated it so now I need to weather it.  Also should have the canopy taped up tonight.

Doug - You are just simply doing a marvelous job this D-9.

Joe - It's really great to have you come back and join us with another 190.

I'm going through Luftwaffe withdrawls again and I have to build another  FW 190.  I'm considering Eduard's A-5 in Egon Mayer's JG 2 markings.  Is there more room for me in here?

Joe

There is DEFINITELY more room in here Joe! Come on in anytime. Let me know when your ready. Good to see you back!

Law dog, There is ALWAYS room for more 190s, I'm not the administrator, but I'm sure he would heartily agree! (He always does)!

Wow, Doug. Looking good is an understatement. I really like that last detail shot. Fantastic decal and associated work. And those kitbashed engine mounts look perfectly at home.

That's some impressive work - as always- Doug! I can't wait to see more.

My King Tiger project is nearing its end (2-3 days to go), so I can work on all those 190s! The D-13 arrived yesterday together with The D-13 and A-8 PE sets and some decals. Perfect timing!

Ok my friends... Decals are now complete! Next comes the fiddly parts...and the wrap up! There is still a butt load of detailing to do, but the end is in sight!

...After this GB is over, we are all gonna migrate over to Thunderbolt's Reich Defense GB, and build Stukas and other cool stuff!...

The RD GB finishes at the end of jan, so you guys might want to jump on there now. It has been rather quiet. But I am still planning on a Stuka GB starting in May.

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Will be jumping on that one!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I too have checked into that one. And an F-8 would fit nicely. But, alas, the end date is Jan. 31, 2014. Thus not enough time for me to do a build. Will be satisfied to maybe knock out another 190 here.

I hadn't either..... A Stuka sounds good. I had  U-control Stuka as a kid, have had a recent urge to get a scale kit.

A similar theme... How about a Focke Wulf GB (everything made by FW)? Just an idea for a GB in the (very) distant future

Rigidrider

Thanks guys... and Bish, the feeling is mutual. I so do enjoy this group of builders, and dont look forward to the end, But I equally dont like "perpetual" builds. It kinda takes the special out of it. Look at the "Perpetual "Bf109 build... Great as it was while in full swing, not 1 post since January this year.

I am very much of the same mind. But given the obvious popularity of this build, I think this is one of those rare occasions where its a good move. Joe is a great host, and he clearly has the pulse of this GB well understood.

We can move on then perhaps come back at a later time with maybe a slightly different theme. Gotta admit, the 2 most popular aircraft to build (Luftwaffe) The 109 & the 190.

Joe R ...yes it even works well for that too! I love the stuff! Oh, by the way... dont belittle your effort and nice comeback with your build... Your sticking with it and its going to pay off.

Greg... The only sealant I'm intending to use is the clear coats. This foil is pretty cool stuff, and it lends its self to several different uses and does very well in most all. as Joe said as a canopy mask, its great because its so thin you have no problem seeing the canopy frame. I as you see am using to represent NMF areas and with a little creative thought you can give it an uneven appearance so not all the panels have the same luster, being aluminum oxidizes at different rates, they should never all look the same. Look across an actual airliners wing and you can see the variations in the skins. Just a hint. Thanks guys...Your the best!
