Ok I'm going to be the annoying one today.   I'm having picture withdrawal,  I need to see what everyone else is doing,  seems to be a lack of picture posting lately. I think there is a bout 40 of us in this build, what's everybody else up to?  inquiring minds want to know.Smile

John

Looking at page 1 there are a few folks who signed up but I believe no longer post at FSM anymore. Wouldn't hurt for Mustang to do roll call, but I haven't seen some of them on the forum in 6-10 months now

I think this GB and others that were started at the end of last year, fell fowl of the slight upheavals at the end of last year. And a lot of the guys that left were the aircraft builders more than armour.

That and the usual case of people committing and not being able to build, which does seem to have become more common recently. So many great GB people can't resist. I have gone through my Gift GB and anyone who hasn't posted since the start of the year I have taken off the roster.

John, I have simply not made enough progress since my last pic to warrant a new one.

Joe,

That I can understand, I seem only to get stuff done on the weekend, then never all I want to. I didn't mean to get anyone mad,  I just get motivated when I see other peoples progress.Big Smile

John

Oh No, not mad at all. Just wish I had more bench time available.

By the way everyone it is Mustang Joe's birthday today.

Don't we all wish we had more bench time.  it seems every time I sit down its Dad!  can you come here or bark bark bark, o geez what's the dumb dog barking at now!

Ya know I'll need to check my chair I bet someone put a sensor in it just like a riding lawn mower except in reverse,  every time I sit it must send a signal to someone to call for me! That's just evilDevil

I'd love to work on my 190s a bit more (painting the cockpits for example), but I have to finish a King Tiger untill Saturday and i just managed to paint it. I still have to do all the weathering...

Bish

JOE, I think I must have missed the post about stripping the paint. What caused such a drastic step.

Well, my good friend Bish, it's a bit of a long story. I posted a series of pics starting a number of pages back. But, in a nutshell, it started when I misaligned the right side fuselage identifier "Black M". It wasn't by much but considering I had some extra black M's I opted to strip it off with a piece of tape and replace it. The decal came off fine as well as a healthy chunk of paint. After a few attempts I managed to smooth out the effected area with some Mr. Surfacer 500 and repaint the camo. It came out quite nice. Then when I went to respray the glosscote from a rattlecan well, for some reason the coating came out heavy and thick and orange peeled and pitted along the whole of the right side of the fuselage. So, having successfully repaired a small area I figured I would strip the whole of the affected with Polly S ELO and do the same on a larger scale. Yup, it's a PIA. But, I'm going to give it my best shot.

Joe: Nice save, buddy! I never had to do something like that before and I hope I never have to, but you did some impressive work on removing all that paint!

Joh: Both 190s look absolutely great!!

Right, so they did the same kit in both scales, didn't know that. I was contemplating doing the 72nd A-3 for this, but decided on the A-8 instead. Yours looks a real beut and the mottling is brilliant.

Thanks, I've been bitten by the 190 bug! Stick out tongue

John, which kit is that A-3. I have the Tamiya 72nd kit which has those markings, so wondering if its that one. That's a lovely looking build. The A-8 is looking great as well, nice mottling.

The paint stripping process is pretty much complete aside from a couple of touch up areas. Overall, not that bad of a process but, I really really do not want to do this again. Now, on to the Mr. Surfacer 500 treatment.

I thought I would post some pictures of the Fw190A-3 I just completed,  even though it was over 50% completed before I heard about this build, I've posted a few pics of it earlier but Now she is finished.

The A-8 I'm working on I got the gear doors and 30mm gun pod covers and engine barrel spats painted RLM 76 to match the bottom.  it's almost done too.  Got the canopy left,  Like always, they scare me.Boo Hoo

Here's the A-8 if you've forgotten what she looks like.  Another week or so and I should be able to start final assembly.

Just been checking my GB commitments and its no where near as bad as I thought, plenty of room for more. Stick me down for a Hasegawa Fw 190A-8, 72nd scale of course. It will be Ernst Schroder's Red 19 of JG 300.

It would be absolutely awesome to have you in here again Bish!!! Lets go buddy!!
