Nice shot of the A-5 Mike. The same is for the Hasegawa canopys I'm working on. I replaced one with an Eduard part, and on the A-4 I'm doing I'll just display the canopy open a crack, so the over hang is less noticable. One can never have enough Eduard kits for spare parts right?

Progress slow?? Thats a heck of alot of detail. Love the papers in the map case, and the rivets on the kit, did you add those?

Rigid -  Wow indeed. Absolutely excellent job on the detailing.

Got a bit of a start on mine this morning by test fitting the True Details resin cockpit in the fuselage to ensure it work. Some sanding will be required on the bottom of the tub in order to fit the wings on but other than that it looks to fit fine. A good bit of work though is going to have to go into removing the IP, seat, etc.. from the mold block and sanding them down. Not real impressed with True Details attachment of parts to the block especially after having used Ultra Cast parts. But, I sure like the detail.

Done!

Well,  Ok  Big Smile I started building about a year ago well outside the bounds of group build but I thought I'd share my 190 that reached a completed status on 2 January.  Please enjoy your group build.

Wrinkledm... Beautiful job! Plenty of time for you to do another... Guys... Thanks, I was wondering if anyone would see the maps and papers in the map pocket. (ha) Most rivets were already in place, I added some where they were missing. Thats why i like the older kits (this one is 25yrs old I believe) purchased at a yard sale, and partielly built, I had to dismantle to begin rebuilding correctly. They for the most part are very well detailed. Like Joe R had said, The resin took a lot of "tweeking" being it wasnt designed for this kit, but it can be made to fit with a bit of patience (which I am learning) and some skill. To those not experianced with rtesin, dont fear it...just go slowly. Oh, and keep a supply of super glue, super gel and quick set epoxy.  Thanks again, much more to come!

Ok all. My progress has been really slow since my debut on the 1st. I have applied alot of the photo etch to the interior. I just finished up with the seat belts this morning. Built and installed the map case/ pocket at the base of the R/H console and installed the control handles and throttle lever at the L/H console as well as install the rear compartment photo etch cover.  I'm currently painting the control stick and working on the instrument panel area. Anyhow here is a pic of the current progress.

Wrinkledm -  That is a sweet build. Thanks for sharing it with us. I'll second that you should share some more of your talents by jumping in and building another along with us.

Joe - Very, very Nice! You've done an exceptional job on the cockpit so far. Really like the belts.

Looks nice Mustang. Time to build another, Wrinkledm! I love Dortemund's bird. I like the weathering on the drop tank. Canopy aerial should be tight though I think.

Starting to build my sub-assemblies for painting my Eduard A-8.

Thanks to all the hints offered here I think I've got the wing spare installed correctly.

Wrinkledm- Very nice 190 there!

Mustang- That cockpit looks fantastic!

I'm starting to get a inferiority complex here with my simple OOB build. LOL

Well crud. Finally got to a point last night where I could start adding color PE to the Tamiya F-8's cockpit, and...eesh.

Apart from nowhere near fitting, the panel is extremely 2D and a far cry from the far superior color PE Eduard is putting out in more recent detail sets.

Of course, I've already sanded off all the kit detail to accomodate the panels. As I see it, that leaves my options as either sourcing an aftermarket pit, or just shifting gears to the Eduard F-8 I have in the stash.

So I'll be doing the latter.

Ouch Doogs, that is horrendous! Is that Eduard etch and which set is it so I'll avoid it like the plague in the future.

It's their BigEd set for the Tamiya F-8. I compared it to the PE provided with their own F-8 Profipack and it's staggering how much poorer it is.

Gents,

I had the same experience with my currently in progress Eduard Fw 190 D-9. Actually, I knew the color would be at least slightly different, and tinted the RLM 66 to match the etched parts. To my dismay, I realized that the now matching color was horrid and I had to start over again.

There are a lot of Eduard 190s in my stash, and looking through them showed that some were really close to RLM 66, and some (like the ones I used) were not even close; maybe 10 shades lighter.

The reason I bring this up is, I sent photos of the "bad" colored parts to Eduard via their "info@eduard" email address (it seems that they now have a dedicated support email form) and they wrote back within a business day saying they would replace the poorly colored parts. And the did just that, with zero cost to me.

I believe that they know they had a time period with poorly colored parts, it was even referenced in one of the monthly newsletters, in terms that they knew they had a problem and it had been rectified.

Give it a try. Eduard has always had very good customer service in my experience, and I bet they will take care of you if you provide photos and a nice email.

Best regards,

Mike

Mike - that's awesome to hear! My Tammy PE was extremely light. Fortunately the F-8 PE with the Profipack seems darker (not as dark as the set for the Me 262A-1a/U4 I'm also working on, but close enough for government work

Here is a quick progress photo. This is actually more of a test as my wife and I have finally entered the cyber world at home. That's right, we have never had a computer at home as my wife has had a "techno fear". Well, having your first grandbaby fixed that right up. So, I was finally able to buy her a laptop for x-mas and hook us up to the world. Thus, I'm having to learn Windows 8 and a new laptop. So here is a test to download photos, upload to photobucket and post here. It appears I have met with success. The best part, I now have easier and more frequent access to the Forums!! Life is Good.

Mustang,

Count me in. I'll be doing a AMC 1/24 FW 190 A5, won't be starting for a few months.

Thanks for all the comments guys. My pace will be really slow for a little bit.  My dogs have been taking up some of the time I use for benchtime in the morning the last few mornings but hopefully they get through the cough and the adjustment to me getting up in the wee hours of the morning again! Got some good looking starters around here. Keep the photos coming, Joe

I started the cockpit. Painted with Tamiya paints. First with XF-63. lights and shadows, a very dark brown wash and finally a dry brush with XF-54.

ajcmac - Those are some excellent effects you have achieved with the light/shadow, drybrushing and wash. Really well done.
