BlackDog - Aw man! That is a bummer about the puppy. Fortunately, my dog and two cats are trouble free concerning the work bench. The turtles, on the other hand, are always getting up there knocking stuff over, gnawing on parts and creating general mayhem. I can't figure out just how they're getting up there.Indifferent Your landing gear work is excellent. The time and effort you took on the brake lines definitely paid off.

I'm back!Big Smile  I feel like i've been off the list for ever, working late and family commitments.  I haven't been able to do much of anything until this weekend.  almost done with my initial A-8, just some PE antenna's left.

As you can see I've started my fw190A-7 (Dragon) snake head scheme,  and I just picked up the 1/72 AIRFIX fw190A-8 with the snake head scheme.  so I'll have 2 with the snake head scheme, one A-7 and one A-8

And yes the A-7 is that Dragon model I posted about a few weeks ago.  I really am impressed with the detailin the Airfix kit I've seen so far in this kits, there is a little flash but nothing really bad.

Clemen's  you may want to add the 1/72 Airfix A-8 to my list.

Thanks

John

That's cheating! 1/72 kits are way cheaper than my 1/48 ones. Wink

Well, you got yourself an A-8 in 1/72, but I got myself an A-8/R2 (that can be built as a normal A-8 as well) in 1/48. It's the Eduard kit...

Oh Hell Yeah John for getting in here with a 1/72 scale! I was feeling a bit lonely since Bish finished up. I am quite interested in seeing how your Airfix comes together. Not sure what your kids could be doing with your pin vise but I'll wager it doesn't fall under the "Use the right tool for the right job" category.

Hey, John's back! Cool!!!

BD, forgot to mention too bad about the puppy damage. Be sure to show us what you come up on the repair! And glad the windex soak worked on the windscreen. Can't recall who recommended it to you, but an overnight soak has already saved me once in a similar situation.

I bow to the superior FW190 force,  but you do have a Eduard 190 and they scare meIndifferent I have one too, and it's somewhere in the stash!!  I normally wouldn't do a 72nd scale but it's so cute!!

Speaking of 1/72, I'm going to start on my 1/72 Hasegawa A-5, using Colorado decals to make a post war French aircraft. The decals call out for an overall 'light blue'. My best guess on this colour is 'Gris Bleu Clair', which was a light blue grey (more grey then blue) used on the underside of French aircraft in WWII. Since they operated a few of these 190s from 1946-49, it seems a logical conclusion to draw.

I've searched up a couple of colour matches on the 'net, Humbrol 127, 2 parts Tamiya XF-24 to 1 part flat white, and a complicated mix of 4 Humbrol enamels.

At this stage I'll go with the Tamiya mix, unless someone has a better idea (like build a German one)

Cheers

Tony

I was actually talking about the decals for the A-8 because I thought you were only using the A-7 decals, but nevermind my audacious question... Wink

Hannants won't send me any orders below 20 bucks and i don't need anything atm, so I'll probably just wait untill I need to place an order above the minimum value Stick out tongue

Hey Joe... Looking forward to your next, You already do a great job on the AB... All you will be doing is honing your skills. alot of the time, I'll see something cool and try to reproduce it. I spend as much time doing things like that as I do building sometimes.

Thanks for the kudos but the paint has just begun... a ways to go yet! Take care!

HUZZAH! It's been a long time coming but, I have completed the vast majority of the painting and the masking has come off. I still have some touching up to do but, I have to admit that I'm very pleased with the results. All the patience paid off. I was a bit nervous as it took some very careful manipulating of the putty to get  the camo edges to line up. I did have to remask certain small areas and touch up but for the most part I got her. I got to take the majority of the day yesterday to work on the 190. The first time in quite some time. It helped that the Denver Bronco game was the night game. The first pic is the last round of masking prior to the painting of the RLM 83.

And here she is with the putty all off. Sorry that it is not the best pic as I took the shot outside and it kind of washed it out a bit. I will have some better pics once I finish the last touch up.

Thanks for all the support and encouragement gentlemen.

I just applied the gloss coat to all the IPs and I'll add the decals tomorrow. Then I only have to spray a flat clear coat on all the cockpit parts and add the "glass" to the dials. What would you guys recommend for this task? I have Revell Contacta Clear and Alclad Clear gloss at hand...
