Yeah, I'm about as tall as you, Doug (184 cm) and I have serious doubts if I'd even fit inside one of those things the Germans called cockpits... Look at the P-47 for example: A nice and roomy cockpit...

Yes it is coming, they definitely had box art shots at the Eday event and I believe Jan (?)  has pretty much confirmed this in response to some comments I have made on Eduards Facebook page. IIRC, there was mention of quarter 1 2014?

And yes Clemens, I am fairly certain it would be in 48th scale.

Man, from earlier chat about the cockpit size... Could you imagine being crammed into this and having this view, for any length of time!!!

Sorry guys but I'm right at 6'1' and I dont think so...

Doug

Wow, that looks like a man in a carnival "kiddie ride"!  Or, Fritz, the giant Luft' kapitan.Big Smile

By the way... I know this is way off the Fw190 theme... But I've been asked where the handle Rigidrider comes from, I had a few good guesses but no ceegars... Meant to show this a while back but nows as good as any...This is my baby and the source of the "RigidRider" comes from...

I built her from scratch... every nut bolt and washer. I did all the paint  too, A friend came by one day in 2005, and wanted to sell his frame that he had bought, guess his ol lady was not havin it. Paid about 1/2 what he had given for it and wondered what was I going to do with it... Well after a few months of studying and rounding up parts I started assy, and here she is! I call her "Plum Nasty" due to the color, shes a Black cherry with about 3 tbl spoons of red metal flake chip in it' The flames are solid lime green flake all urethane and candy. The ultimate model!!! Ha... Well any way, hence the name due to the ridgid frame.

Okay Doug, I am flat out of words to describe the this miraculous piece of biker heaven I just laid my eyes on. Doug, My respect for your talents and skills just jumped off the charts. That there is just Bad A! So, how often to you take her out? Do you take her to rallys? Shows? I sure hope so because the entire world needs to flap an eyeball on that beautiful piece of handiwork. Thank You for sharing that Doug. And, yes, I wondered how you came by your handle. Maybe, everyone else here would be so kind as to share the story behind their handle. As for me nothing real creative, it's my first and middle name.

Thats a Bad A looking bike Doug! I have a real heartfelt appreciation for something like that as I have had the "wrench tinkering" hands myself.

That's a nice ride Doug.  I figured that anyone called Rigidrider just had to be straddling a scoot.   She looks sweet man!

Here's my 1975 Shovelhead, and me about 50 pounds heavier and 25 years or so younger.  I called her "La Bamba".

cheers!  Gary

You know I've read review after review on this Tamiya D9 and have talked to some of you on the shortcomings of this kit and I'll tell you guys it IS the landing gear with the biggest mistakes ,or in this case the smallest one. The pic below shows the Tamiya gear door on the right and the Eduard offering on the left. Any guesses as to which one I'm going to use right along with the struts????

Doug: I have to say that this is one heck of a bike! I think it's best described as a "huge pile of awesomeness". Stick out tongue

Joe: Yeah, those gear legs are just way too short. Their F-8  has the same problem...

Guys... Thanks much for the compliments...Gary , usually guys who ride were pretty much the only ones who had a clue! Is that a street glide? AMF? Alot of people knock the AMF era Harleys, but if not for them they would have gone under.  Good lookin old Harley...the old shovel was a pretty good engine once they got the oiling problem figured out. Im an evo fan myself but

you know the old saying... Best way to bury an Evo is with a shovel!

Joe R, yeah I, ve been to Biketober fest in Fla. a few times, to Myrtal Beach SC, Little Sturgis in Tenn. and Sturgis twice. I would love some day to go to Lacconia, and do the Trail of Tears ride. Really want to do the Run to the Wall someday, was supposed to go this past year but couldnt make it. I uesd to ride with the Leatherneck M.C. and now dedicate most of my time to the Patriot Guard Riders.

Thanks Doug.  Yeah, she started out as an '75 FLH ElectraGlide 1200 when new.  By the time I bought her, someone had added the SuperGlide tank and seat, bobbed fenders, forward controls and SuperGlide front-end and massaged the motor somewhat.  It still carried the larger ElectraGlide battery and of course, FLH-geared tranny as well.  Those straight pipes were really loud (might've saved my life a few times, lol).  Think two feet of flame at 70 mph...She had self-changing oil in the transmission too.Wink  I had to keep an old cake pan under her when parked at home. (bad seal that I never fixed)  Up side to that was the transmission always had fresh oil.Smile  But, she was pretty reliable and fun to ride.  I sold her to a good friend and got into a safer hobby-guns!  Be careful out there Doug!

Doug, that pic of pilot in 190 blew me away. Holy cow, talk about getting a perspective of the size!!! I don't think I'd like that at all. At first glance, almost thought it was a gag shot, photoshopped.

Those are some nice rides, guys. Handi, probably shouldn't admit this but I thought I was looking at a diorama for a bit.

Hey Greg... Yup, Thats what I'm saying... Just for s**ts and giggles, I would love to try one on just to have been able to sit in one, However as I said earlier, I'm 6'1" and 195 lbs and I doubt I could stand it for too long. Going through some of mt books and seeing the likes of Priller and Jennewein and some of the others, they were short and slight of stature... I see why now.  Like Clemens said, Most American aircraft had fairly roomy pits. My Dad (God rest his soul) was an engineer at Lockheed both at the Burbank Ca. facility and later at the Marietta Ga plant and I was privilaged to be able to sit in a P38 and a few others and although I guess still a little cramped, you still had room to move around and you didn't feel as if you were in a coffin. It was almost as if you were in a sports car seat.

Add the fact that the Lightning had an actual steering wheel. I'd choose that one over any sports car! Propeller

She's a replica of "Marge" at The Richard I Bong Veterans Historical Center in Superior Wisconsin,  I've done a bit of volunteering there as most of my builds end up there,,  sometimes a little "unauthorized activity" can be pretty cool.....
