Doug, AG should mean German company, sort of similar to a US corporation (Inc. or LLC etc). Maybe Clemens can confirm this, but I've never seen the abbreviation 'AG' used for anything else. I think it is a German word that is unpronounceable to me. :)

So would have to guess they are Revell Germany molds? Which should mean a pretty good kit?

Greg is right. It is an abbreviation which means something along the lines of "company", but in all honesty, I have no clue what the actual meaning is. Why? Because there are many terms this stands for. In this case it seems to relate to "Aktiengesellschaft", which is in fact a German term for company (none you would use in everyday German though.).

Thanks guys... That halps and makes sense, being Revell is global. I guess I just cant understand why there has to be two diff standards for the product. Thanks again guys!

I think I have enough kits to participate in this GB, even if you extend it for a whole year:

  • Eduard Fw 190A-8/R2 (on the bench)
  • Eduard Fw 190A-8
  • Eduard Fw 190D-9 Weekend
  • Eduard Fw 190D-9
  • Eduard Fw 190D-11
  • Hasegawa Fw 190A-5 w/ staff car
  • Tamiya Fw 190A-3
  • Dragon Ta 152C-0
  • Zoukei Mura Ta 152H (still have to buy that one)

Are you really going to build all these at once!  And I thought I had a lot of started models on my work bench.Surprise

On the Bench: 1/72 Ki-67, 1/48 T-38

Yeehaw, We be having fun with decals now. I never thought I would see this but, it seems I have found a set of decals that is impervious to the powers of Solvaset and Microsol. Yup, the Authentic Decals set that I am using had absolutely no reaction to either setting solution when I conducted a test prior to applying them to the model. Mind boggling. Luckily I happen to have a set of Aeromaster 1/72 balkenkreuz and another set of Eagle Strike decals for FW 190As for the majority of the stencils. Thus, the only decals I need from the Authentic set is the black M & I and the serial #. This coupled with three different interpretations of which type of balkenkreuz to use and its placement between my 3 different references. This is though the fun of our hobby.

Joe (mustang)- That thing is looking sweet with the nose on. Looks like there will be tons of detail visible on that engine!!

Joe (Rix)- cant wait to see some cals on that cool looking finish!!

Clemens- Are you going to be building four (4) Eduard 190's at the same time??? And I thought I had lost my sanity by building 2!!

Just got back from a trip to the beach myself so hopefully benchtime is incoming!!

I did get to stop by the  Warner Robbins Museum and check out their fantastic collection of planes!!! Got lots of pics as that place is awesome, and FREE!!! Also, got to stop by the 8th Air Force museum in Savannah and got some great pics there as well. They are currently restoring a B-17 as the  "City of Savannah".

Both were very cool places that I would very much recommend if you're ever in the area!

Thanks Eric. There is alot of detail visible. Just get the Eduard PE set for it though. With that the engine has about 75 parts and it really pays off to use it!

I know thats right. I barely have room enough on my bench for the one I'm doing!  All's I can say is my hat goes off to the man that 1) has the room to do that  and 2) that CAN do that!

Yes I AM building 4 Eduard kits at the same time!

I have the space for them, as I just removed everything from my bench except my tool box. That provides me with 1.6m x 0.6m of space... I just hope the last one arrives soon (A-8)...

I'm not too sure if I can do it, but it's worth a try. I'm completely insane anyway, so I don't have to worry about my sanity, eh?

What schemes do you have planned out Clemens? I am planning on building my D-9 pretty soon but I really don't have a scheme picked out ytet. I was kicking some around but do realize that alot of D-9s looked like crap just due to the fact that they weren't sheltered much.

I hope you have your chair mounted on wheels or better yet a track so you can slide from one model to the next with just a push from your foot. Propeller

Clemen's,

I'm glad you have that chair,  it would hurt your back to pick it up and move it every time you need to move on to the next build.

I really like the tan 190, is that from africa?  Oh no! now I'll have to do one for that theater!Surprise

Well everybody. I'm currently working on the cowl guns after painting, weathering and installing the cowl ammo cooling pipes. It won't be too awful long that I'll be finishing this one up. Maybe another month at this pace. Anyhow I have the next kit lined up right after I complete a Dauntless build with my kiddo. I'm going with the Tamiya D-9 offering in 1/48 scale with an Aires detail set and a CMK undercarraige set. Still have to get some barrels and masks but will be aquiring those in the future. Going to have to correct the landing gear struts and doors also as they are too short.

Ooh, Aires goodies!!!

I'm looking forward to that one for sure. I am thinking of ordering another 190 together with one of those engine sets, but I have to save some money for other kits *cough* HK B-17 *cough* ZM Ta 152 *cough* Tamiya Corsair *cough*...

Actually, I am only just beginning to learn this sort of thing. And I'm learning a lot from my new friends here, both about building and about history, and other stuff!

And enjoying every minute of it, I might add.....

Sorry Greg. Didn't mean to imply that you didn't know much. We are ALL learning, just at different stages and yes its definitely fun.

Its definitely gonna be alot easier than this Eduard. You guys building all these D-9s got me stirred up enough to do one.

Joe - It's going to be great watching you build the D-9. Concerning the landing gear, did you check out that link I sent John (I think it was John) about the issues with the landing gear on the Tamiya, DML and Tri Master kit.

Greg - That is the absolute joy of building with the folks here. The amount one learns here is amazing. This leads me to point out to you that our modeling addiction can have certain side effects. I, for one, suffer from the inability to stop buying reference books. I LOVE reference books. I have at least 5 or more books on each kit/subject I have in my stash. Given that I have 70+ kits that means I have, well, you can do the math. This not counting just the general subject and history I have. So, fair warning that you may need to account also for the space required to accomodate one's book stash. That reminds me, I have to share later my latest addition on FW 190s.

Joe (Rix): Do you have some references for the P-47 as well? Could you do me a favour and look something up for me? There is a panel line on the Tamiya kit, which runs from the rear of the engine cowling to the windscreen. I only have 2 reference books at all, both on the Jug (2 Squadron books), but there is no picture showing this area in both of them. The drawings in those books shhow the panel line starting further back (starting at the windscreen as well, but not extending to the cowling flaps). I don' t know if I should rescribe the area (i removed it while sanding down the joint between the fuse halves) or not... I hope you can help me out.

Joe (Mustang), not at all! I truly know almost nothing about aviation history, or much about any non-civilian aircraft. Certainly no need to apologise, my friend. You didn't imply anything!

Joe (Rix), agreed 100%! I wonder if I might someday become a reference book buyer and super-attentive to details. Time will tell!!! (I think if reference books starting coming in along with the occasional sneaked-in kit (not to mention not-sneaked in paint, tools, miscellany) my partner might have her first fit. :)

I couple months back when I started exploring here (beyond reading posts from my googled questions) and thought about joining, I had no idea what a group build was. Now, almost done with my first, almost can't imagine building a kit on my own. The knowledge here amazes me more every day.

Clemens, I do indeed have a couple of excellent reference books for the P-47. I'll see what I can do for you.
