Sorry for my absence eveyone. We lost my dear sweet grandmother earlier this week at the young at of 95. She was near and dear to my heart and a huge influence in my life. She will be sorely missed!

Looking to get some bench time in later tonight  and progress these two 190's a bit further.

John, your 190 is looking great! I am sure you will handle the gaps/seams in the pics with ease!! One question though, it looks like you already have the wheel wells painted in 66? This may just be my lack of knowledge on the subject but I thought they were all painted in 02?

Hey everybody: Small update here. Got the cowl guns, cowl gun access cover and radio antenna installed. Applied the spinner spiral decal this morning also. With any luck I'll have the prop on this weekend sometime. Here goes:

Joe, That right there is one fantastic example of modeling. Outstanding detailing and weathering. You are definitely at the top of your game. Hmm, you might actually convince me that there really is something good that can come out of Texas . Kidding aside, you really, really should be proud of that Joe.

Thanks Clemens and right you are. Should be finishing up within the month. No matter how hard I try, if I open one up I'm looking at 9 months build time! Its all good though. I'm having fun and thats what this is all about.

Eric, truly sorry to hear of your loss. I lost my grandmother some decades ago, and if might be some small consolation to you, I think of her often and doing so never fails to bring a smile to my face. I am sure you will experience the same, just might take some time.

Condolenses Eric... Grandmas are tough to loose but Greg put it exactly as I've felt over the years, Lost my first Grandma in the mid 70s, But she still brings a smile to my face on a regular basis! Hang in there bro...

Clemens... LOL, Just kidding with you my friend! It just seems that you have so many irons in the fire, Not sure how you do it! LOL...

John, if I may make a suggestion... If you choose to putty, (dont see alot of chioce in that one) Get some Acetone(finger nail polish remover) and some Qtips. Work your putty into the gap as smooth as possibly which isnt usually very smooth, Dip a Qtip into the Acetone wetting the cotton squeeze out excess but not too dry, there should be liquid visable but not dripping, and start working the putty with the Qtip. It will cut out loads of sanding and rescribing time. It also has a way of setting the putty alot faster. Then after a brief period to allow to set up you can file and sand, again alot less then you might of had to. WARNING*** do not over do it with the Acetone... It will attack and soften the plastic. You have to work fast but with a plan! If it gets too "wet" allow to dry for a bit then hit it again.

  That's exactly what I ended up doing.  it works great.  I did see that method posted here somewhere a while ago and I have been using it especially on wing roots.  I do have to remember to use acetone in stead of the lacquer thinner I use for thinning my  enamel paint for the AB.  the cans are right next to each other.  And I do need to be careful on how much gets on the Q-tip.

Yes it is painted RLM 66. I was going on a recommendation from a Modelingmadness build by Scot Van Aken that the RLM 02 was a early pre mass production paint.  He said that once the 190 was in mass production the wheel wells were painted RLM 66.   Is this incorrect?  I can still change it.  Anyone know more than me?  And I don't know very much.

Hey John... Glad you got it resolved... You know towards the end, I think alot of the things that "were" kinda fell by the weigh side. The late war D-9 I'm doing now, not only in the kit color chart but in Azbiz shins shows the application of RLM66 with some areas of NM on the undersurfaces. I think at the time they were just slapping them together to get them in the air, and RLM 66 goes against everything I've always learned and used and is going to grind on my what was!(ha)

My build also recommends primer grey on the upper surfaces instead of the usual colors used...Oh well,

OH and I forgot, It also uses the TA152 tail, which they state only happened for 1 day due to the lack of "regular" tail units on hand at the time of the build compleation. I think the Bio states that there were 4 aircraft that were equiped this way.

John, like I said, I am not the most knowledgeable about the subject so I cant be sure. Matter of fact, I am doubting mine now and will have to do some research on it.

Ok guys... I started my Eduard D-9 today, I've decided to do White 12 of 5/JG301 wrkn 500408 flying out of Lobnitz Germany March 1945. I can find no pilot attached to this aircraft, and have read that she survived the war having been captured by the Allies ,April 1945.

I hope I dont screw this one up but I am going to install an engine in it and open her up. I have an Aires Junkers Jumo 213 Resin engine kit, and after studying the fuselage and the instructions, have decided to go for it. It will require alot of cutting and alterations along with locating something to use as the motor supports but I think I can do it. I will try to have some pictures to post soon. So far I'm loving this Eduard kit! That may change, but I like the detail they have put into it.

Sweet Doug! Go for it. Mustang, your 190's really coming together now. All that extra detailing and open panels look very realistic.

Doug - Boy, Am I looking forward your D-9. I have no doubts about you fitting the engine after what I saw what you did with the Monogram 190. Is that D-9 a Profipack or weekend edition.

John - I am by no means any kind of Luftwaffe expert. But. I did some searching in my references and on the web and I found nothing definitive on RLM 02 being replaced with RLM 66 in the later stages of the war.

Joe , Its the profipack, Late war edition. This being my first Eduard kit I am so far impressed. They pack alot into the kit, And thanks for your vote of confidence!

Nathan, I know you said this is your busy season, and we don't get to hear from you much now, but its  good to hear from you when ever you can.

Doug: I cant wait to see this one come together! You'll love the detail of the Eduard kit. Just do lots of reading on the instructions prior to building. We are finally going to tackle one of these opened up together.

Here's some pics of what I did last night.   I should Know better than to start painting at 11:30 at night.  I got the first coat of RLM76 on the bottom and then realized I had forgotten to pre-shade it so i had to go over the blue with flat black and then I'll do the blue over again.

Now I can start over again.

falconmod:It wouldn't be modelling if you DIDN'T do that kind of stuff. I can't think of anybody that hasn't pulled something like that. I painted the upper camo scheme backwards on mine and then went back and straightened it out. Looking good John....looking good.

Doug: You are going to love the Eduard kit. But watch out! You might get an Eduardaholic as well!

John: Yep, starting work on anything after 11 PM is a bad idea... (does'nt keep me from doing it though...) Your 190 is looking nice anway! I also like the idea of that gun monted on it! What calibre is it?
