First... Allen... Good to have you here! Very nice work and a good kit for your first GB!

Secondly... Right you are my friend Joe! See how these things kinda just fall into place?(ha)

Thirdly... Clemens... When do you sleep my brother? (ha) Just kidding, But although I was half joking it would be a pretty cool GB, Flying cannons of the Luftwaffe. Like Joe(mustang) said, these are only short of having tracks!

I don't need no sleep. All I need is plastic-glue fumes and something to keep me busy (like 5 Eduard 190s) Wink

Chanter

Hi all.  I was finally able to get started on my 190.  Following all of the excellent builds here has given me a lot of inspiration and tips that I'll hopefully be able to incorporate.

I am building a Tamiya A3 which apparently is a nice easy build.  Sounds good to me!

Good to have you here Chanter! I'll get you entered in on the intro post. Friggin cool!

My current projects:

  • 5 Fw 190s (all Eduard kits)
  • 2 Thunderbolts (Tamiya)
  • B-25 (HK Models)
  • King Tiger (Dragon)

And I am currently hosting 3 GBs at the same time (NMF GB, Carrier GB, German Arrows GB)

I still have to answer your question: Yes, I DEFINITELY lost my mind Stick out tongue

We don't need any help. We just need more plastic, glue and paint. Nothing else!

Seriously now. I just work a bit on one of the models and then move on to the next one. When I have to wait for some glue to dry, I can paint up a cockpit of another model...

Hence the need for wheels on your chair,  it's more efficient that way!

Yep, I'm constantly rolling around in front of my bench.... I'm actually placing the models I'm not working on at the right half of my bench and the other stuff is at the left half together with my tool box and my working area....

Clemens, Please tell me that you do not have a porta potty attached to your chair. Lord knows, we wouldn't want to take the time to get up to go to the bathroom when that time could be spent putting that mask on the canopy.

Thanks again for the encouragement; it really keeps the motivation level high. Smile

Joe Rix:   I don't have a harness for it, although would like to add one.  I have been looking around the site for any tips on making a set.  I've tried to make some from masking tape with zero luck.

SchattenSparten:  I borrowed from Lawdog's method and laid all the parts out on a clothespin to work on.  I started with XF-63 for everthing.  I added only a bit of colour (yellow and red switches and a sliver of Tamiya tape around the throttle lever handle) to break up the monotony.  Other parts (seat, rudder pedals) were as per Tamiya's instructions.  I wasn't particularly confident doing the instrument panel, but cut a bamboo skewer down to a fine point and tried to get some white into the dials.  Once that was done, I dry brushed with some flat aluminum in various spots (still learning that technique) and let everything sit.  Once everything was dry, I brushed on some Florry Grime, to try and make things not so pristine.

That's about it so far.  I'll continue to post as I go, and this time will try to explain better what I've done.  I held off on initial details, because anything I'm doing is basically stuff I've learned from reading all of your posts here!  So a big thanks to all of you for sharing your techniques and knowledge.  It really is making this hobby more enjoyable for me.

Allen, that cockpit looks great! I'm glad you explained what you did above. Above my pay grade, but maybe someday.....

I spent an afternoon trying to do something with my 1/48th panel, finally gave up, sanded everything down and am going with (ahem), decals. Hope that doesn't get me kicked out of here! Methinks I got spoiled on my 'welcome back' build with all the neat-o Eduard PE. :)

Allen: Thanks for explaining your techniqe!

Greg:That neat-o Eduard PE isn't always good. The PE instrument panel included in the Airacobra Dual Combo is really bad. It is way too large and prevents the fuselage halves to fit together at all. I nearly destroyed my Cobra because of it. The cockpit floor looks like a mess on one side, but I was lucky: I can cover all the damage with a folded map (I wanted to throw sume stuff in the "office" anyway...)

Joe: Don't worry, mate! I am insane, but not THAT crazy Tongue Tied

Sorry for being late, guys. Embarrassed

I had to wait for almost 2 hours at the post office. When I finally arrived at home, I realized I was running low on Tamiya cement. I went to my LHS to get me some of that stuff (2 Bottles) together with some superglue for all the PE stuff...

Here is my new A-8:

I have some trouble deciding on the camo scheme for this bird:

I want to build one of these 2 schemes, but I'm not sure which one:

And here is my pile of Eduard stuff. I wasn't kidding when I said 5 models...

Cheers, Clemens

Oh, and Clemens as far as being late, don't ever let that happen again. The styrene Gods get a little bent if you're not back to the bench in a timely manner.
