Seabe I have found that brushing cleat coat over the edges of the tape prevents that kind of seepage from happenin.
Joe that PE will make this one look sharp
Now I know why I hate masking... Red seeped in EVERYWHERE! Not even the simplest of these masks were successful. I have a long week ahead to try and remedy this. The complex curves did not help. So it looks (in retrospect) as if some areas lifted a hair after a while. One thing I may have done wrong, was to have left the initial masks on for a bit too long due to work and other commitments. Let's blame it on that... ;)
One weird thing was that my "normal" Tamiya masking tape did not adhere very well to the Tamiya-supplied masking tape in the kit. Everywhere they joined, there was chaos.
Either way, I have a long clean-up job ahead.
The red itself came out quite nicely, though. There's a positive somewhere...
The masking has been completed. Hope for the best! Will only be able to start with clear and then first layer of red later today. Rattle-cans in a sleeping house on a Sat morning can land me in the dog box!
You'll see a mix between the templated sections for curvey sections and this had to be followed with own initiatives. And you'll see I actually remembered the rear side of the air intakes as well! Just one of the body parts. The shadow makes it look as if there's a lifting section on front where number decals wil be placed. I hope not, because I have triple checked that after seeing the photo. (And triple wiped it down again!)
The details you guys put into your builds with that 4 link, engine and then the motorcycle forks is just crazy there Tim and Seabe. Wow!! Bravo fellas!!! Bravo!
Here's the PE sheet that I'll be using throughout the build here:
I cleaned up most of the interior parts in regards to excessive flash and sprue joins got most of the small parts separated like the steering wheel and master cylinder and stuff like that. I acquired a spare kit just because I needed some parts that were missing or otherwise deemed unusable.
The parts I need are all there...........

Tim, nice progress on your engine and chassis.
Seabe, your front fork came out good.
That engin is really coming along superbly, Tim!
Love that renovation project, Mustang!
Bit the bullet and got the fork assembly going. Still some outstanding bolt head to paint, etc. And glue is still drying on places, but this is what it looks like at the moment. Not too much manual intervention required. Could have been better, but I feared much worse.
Finished up some more details on the engine and the chassis. Can't finish running the brake lines until the axle is mounted to the chassis, but the fuel line is ran and ready to be hooked up. Still got tons to finish up on this one.
Tim
MOPAR - D Joe looks like a nice rebuild your starting. Are you going to repaint the body too?

Okeedokee fellas. I've gotta slide the modded VW bus aside for a minute. No worries though as I'll be back to it. I just need an easier build for the time being.
I showed pictures of this bad boy last year after I did some repairs on it but thought it deserved more than that…………so here we are a year or so later to do it some real justice. Presented here for rebuild is my 35 year old Monogram 1969 Camaro Z-28 which many of you will know the boxing of this kit back in the late 70’s/ early 80’s:
I’m going to go through this thing I don’t even know how deep I’ll go with it so I aint even going to say that this’ll be a mild rebuild. Anything I touch can’t be done in timely manner it seems like but I’m going to TRY to keep as many original parts as I can in this restoration/ upgrade. There’ll be some definite changes in regards to the interior as well as the exterior. I’ll be changing up the wheel and tire combo and will stay within the boundaries of a street machine using street tires with some Cragar SS wheels and a mildly upgraded Chevrolet 396 with a single four barrel carburetor to top things off. Here’s a picture of what we’re going to start with as it sat on my bench this morning:
The options were wide open as there hasn’t been anything in the engine compartment in 30 years now:
A picture of the interior:
Now apart on the bench:
To start with I have managed to come up with another hood thanks to a friend on the forums:
We’ll be going with this 396 from Revell that I had in the parts stash:
Hang in there Seabe! We're still here rootin' for ya!
That truck is coming along just great, Mopar-D!
And Tim, I'm echoing everybody in saying that the engin is looking great.
Me...? I'm king of Denial Island! I've gone into the tedious task os masking the body. Done with the more critical segments, now just the filling in. It's a pain in the extreme lower back. Actually thought it would be decals, as they most often are. But hopefully this week I'll do some further twiddling on that fork.
taaron76 Joe - I ordered around $250.00 worth of hardware for RB Motion for this build and the next one, whichever that will wind up being.

Thanks Joe
Tim your engine detail looks great.
Received my tires from Double Take Replicas and made some progress on the fuel tanks. Set the cab on it to see how it's going to look.
Joe - I ordered around $250.00 worth of hardware for RB Motion for this build and the next one, whichever that will wind up being. I figured I'd stock up now, but you never know what you will need until you don't have it.
Made some more progress on the 427 this weekend. My intention was to use Holley 750's for the carbs, but they were too big for the intake without turning them sideways, so I went with dual Holley 4160's since they are a little shorter. Ran the fuel lines and the vacuum between the two carbs and the dipstick tube.
Seabe: Man , sorry to hear about the fit issues brutha! Looking forward to the updates/ progress report.
Tim: That's one helluva project you've got going there. That paintwork is jaw dropping and the details are really making that thing pop! That RB motion hardware gets expensive after a bit don't it? Ask me how I know.
Dan: Good progress on your truck. Those wheels turned out awesome bud!!!
Looking good, Dan!
Operation Patience. Assembled 4-link with coilovers... I need to order some more bolts and nuts since I ran out and cut the excess off of the ones I installed, but it is coming along.
Received my trailer wheels and tires today. Going to fill in the openings and rework the frame.
Nice start on your plug wires Tim.
Started on the engine a few days ago. This is the 427 with dual carbs, but I ordered a 2013 Boss 302 Coyote... still not sure which one to use just yet. The photoetch fan is nice, just takes a little patience to assemble it.
Worked on the engine still have a little more work on it before it's ready for finial installation.
Seabe I hope your able to figure out your problem with the front section
Tim your Mustang is looking good
Painted the frame blue and chromed the wheels and wheel guards. Wheels are just test fitted to see how they will look with the blue frame. I'm planning to go with some after market tires too. Started on the engine assembly.
I put some BMF on it last night and got the windows cut and buffed since I deleted the vent windows. I also made a roll bar and extended it to the chassis in the rear. The front bumper is just there for looks... I will probably strip it, clean it up and Alclad it. I had to order longer bolts for the 4-link, so hopefully next week I can get that mocked up and assembled.
That is one funky little bus! Agree on the finish, it is hyper smooth! Looks like it was a real fun project.
I ran into some issues on my front suspension of the Honda. What should be a very precise (ito directional) fit, due to it influencing some pins higher up, was anything but a precise fit. You could put in the top piece of the fork arms and turn them any way once inserted... Very unlike Tamiya, so maybe I screwed up somewhere. If I did, I hope I can disassemble safely.
Joe this is so cool and your finish looks like glasss. Nice!
Dan: Progress is looking good brutha! BTW I've got your entries and pics posted as well.
taaron: Keep the good stuff goin'.
Everybody: Ok fellas. I've had my dang hands full around the house in the last month so participation with posting has been a little slow from me. I did, however, finish the OOB version of the AMT "Der Beetle Bus" that I've been building.
Here's the shots of that:
The kit:
and lastly.....a mock up of the box art shot:
Joe. Let's go with "Spurrow's Dodge Transporter"
I'll get you handled there Dan! Umm......what kind of title do you want me to give the new build so I can get that posted up front in the roster?
