I have solved one of the problems I was having with the first Dart, which was how to get the brake master cylinder in position with the engine in place. This was a problem on the real cars so they mounted it to an aluminum spacer to move it over to clear the headers. I tried to replicate this but couldn't get it down in there until I sanded the spacer smaller and twisted it every which way until it finally went. Very much like working on a real car. Joe will know what I mean. On the new build I think I will mount the spacer to the firewall first and then the master cylinder later.

Jay: That motor looks great sitting in that bay! Man I've been there a hundred times with stuff that won't go into place and then, out of no where, it just falls together like it was meant to be. You're right Jay, been there/done that! lol All of these Darts and Chargers that are getting built here and abroad spurred me to go to Michaels yesterday and tip over the edge. Like I needed another two kits..............let alone one! Indifferent

Misty: Now that sir, is totally awesome work. Those seat belts look so real that it looks like somebody outta be able to get in there and strap in! Great detail! Yes

Any Mopar, anytime anywhere! lol  I do have a thing for Fox body Mustangs too.

Oh I almost forgot, I BMF'd the trim ring around the grille. I did a bunch of other stuff this morning with it but will cover that in pictures coming up.

Here's the BMF job:

That looks a real fiddly job, but we'll worth the trouble.

Looking good Joe! One of the next items on the list is the door panels. The kit parts and the real thing are shown below. A lot of filling and sanding coming up.

Jay - normally I'm have to do just the opposite with my interiors. Nice 1:1 pictures for details.

Joe - mother BMF looks better on the grill it gives it a better look.

I'm starting with a Jimmy Fintstone resin 39 Dodge CEO and the AMT Ford race hauler. I plan to change out the ramps to remove the bumps that are currently there. Looking at going with Hemi Orange and maybe some type of stripe will see how it comes together. May also trim down the front storage compartment. Here's whare I'm starting

Good evening fellas (and ladies of course),

I freed up a little time to get the body wetsanded and polished... no wax yet.  There isn't a spec of dust or imperfection of any kind in this paint job.  I apologize for boasting a little, but they get better with each build and I'm a little proud of at least that part of the build.  I finished up the front grill, got the bumpers mounted and started inside of the engine bay.  I should be able to start the BMF process tonight and then finish up all of the little details that take the longest.  Thanks for looking!

Gotta say, you fellas are doing some amazing work here, from the WIP's to the finished builds, just incredible stuff!  I'm really hoping to jump back in here soon once my other WIP is finished, that WIP being an upgraded bathroom.  What was supposed to be a simple reno has turned into a major gut job and pretty much takes up nearly all of my spare time.  When I do get a few minutes, I have really been enjoying seeing what you guys are churning out on a daily basis.  Keep up the great work!

Tim: Whadda shine!!! You make me want to get online and order a bunch of acrylic stuff like ....................NOW! LOL. This build is looking great man! The B-2 bomber ..........I'll be remembering that one. It should be rightfully called "the cloak" since it hides all that detail. lol

Mike: Its great to see you around here again man. I hear ya on the house improvements. I'm gonna have to get goin' on that too. Dammit!

Tim, you have a right to boast, that finish is awesome. What grit did you sand with between the clearcoats?

This weekend I found time to wet sand my primer coat, laid down two coats of TorRed and just put down a clear coat. I'd take pics but I gotta keep the wet clear covered up. The dust... it's everywhere. Confused

Man I hear you on the dust Steve. I'm pretty cautious about it myself. Looking forward to pictures bubba.

As far as progress outta me, I finished up with the front clip today and installed the engine and transmission.

The front clip:

and test fitted:

and the engine and transmission installed. This was a real PIA because I had a wiring harness to run into the firewall at the same time I was installing the engine. I got through it though and still have the wiring to hook up to the ballast resistor and the windshield wiper motor, hence the wires/ circuits sticking up.

Joe, that looks great! Coming along very nicely. Got a little work done on the Dart door trim panels. Filled, sanded, primed, and ready for paint. A few rough spots, but I don't think they will be visible and they will be painted black so I am going to let it go. I have decided to use separate trim strips along the top made from styrene strip painted Alclad chrome. Who knows, might even work.

I am the dilemma part of the build... to decal or not decal, that is the question.  I'm going to spray a coat of flat clear over the black HEMI decal that goes on the rear quarter panel, but I'm undecided on whether or not I should put it on.

I finished all of the BMF, but still have the turn signals, spoiler, mirrors, emblems, hood pins, side-fender vents, door handles and a coat of wax left to do.  Not a bunch, so hopefully mid-week the Hemi Cuda will be complete.

I need to figure out why the hood won't sit all the way down.  The Shaker is holding it up a tad, but I'll fix it.

Tim your right it's going to be a hard call to make on weather or not to put the Hemi broadcast decals on as it looks killer the way it is but then what would the decals add to it?

Dan - That's a good question!  Other than "HEMI"... and some flat black to hide my paint, I'm not sure.  lol

Thanks!

Tim
