Gordy thanks I have the Revell and AMT car haulers and this one will go with them. The AMT is my 62 model year and the Revell I'm going to change over from the 68's to 67's. With the 3 trucks they will have a grand total of 20 cars. It comes in handy for freeing up shelf space. 

68GT just start digging into your build and show us some progress pictures. 

I want to let everyone know that I've been posting a lot of progress on my truck the last couple days here but it's not current progress I'm just catching up to where I'm at with the build today. I'm getting to where I'm currently at today. The next thing that I worked on was the new hitch connection on the trailer and the hitch on the back of the truck. I was concerned about the weight on both of these connections as they look very weak. For the trailer I used a flat piece of plastic that goes about 3" back on the trailer and then added the tubing on th egos side of it and after the glue dryed it seams strong. For the truck hitch I ran some wire inside the tubing  to add the strength to carry the trailer weight. Here's the progress pictures.

 I'm having trouble starting back into the autos. Maybe with the personal involvement I can be pushed over the edge.

We can help you out both parts 68GT! I normally don't build autos either but I've been having a blast this time around with all the great skills that are shared here and abroad. Big Smile

I unfortunately never started that Mustang funny car.  I'm having trouble starting back into the autos.

I Have one of those Revell 68 Mustang GTs (1/25) with the Cobra Jet in it that I've been wanting to build into my 68 GT with a 390 engine.  Maybe with the personal involvement I can be pushed over the edge.

Mustang -that washer fluid jug looks great, I'm interested to see how you do the half full blue fluid look.

Actually this is the latest after I got through this morning. I forgot to post this earlier.

The way I pulled this off was I started with a reservoir that was molded in white. You can also paint one white if the one you are working with is a different color. Then you mask off the container at the halfway up mark and mix up some bright blue or if you have some in stock then paint the unmasked half the blue color. Lastly, using a 50/50 mix of flat and gloss clear (I have no semi gloss clear) and a drop or two of white (this will give the illusion of fluid inside the bottle after applied) airbrush the mixture in a thin coat onto the reservoir.

Mopar -that thing is just incredible.  It beats the pants off a dio any day, excellent way to display your builds.

Mustang -that washer fluid jug looks great, I'm interested to see how you do the half full blue fluid look.

Eric -thanks but I noticed you stripping the chrome -that has me nervous. lol  I'm gonna have to elevate my game some.  I did snag some pretty cragar wheels and poly tires from another kit I'm going to use.  Watch the front suspension, the 'axle' part doesn't seem to line up the wheels in the wheel weels nice.  I had to pull mine all apart adn try to figure out how to straighten it.  It looks like the molded on lower a arms ar longer on one side than the other and put the left wheel forward with the right wheel back slightly.  It wasn't obvious until I mocked up the tires to see how they sit that I noticed it.  Hopefully your kit will be ok or you can over come this before paint and glue.  

So many updates I'm glad I checked in. :)

Worked on the front part of the trailer getting the lower section glued in and reworking the the front upper support ramp as the kit has this ramp in a lower position and I need it in the upper position to have a car under it. Also did a mock up on the total rig and it's going to end up being 35 inches in length.   Also to get all 6 cars to fit I have to add a new ramp in the back section.

Mustang, I always have trouble with the w/s bottle also and never thought about cutting it out. Thanks for the tip.

It was to cold to be wet sanding on the 51 but here's a shot of the side I have done.

Mostly just worked on the Impala's engine. The distributor hole in the intake is closed so I drilled it out., drilled the holes for the plugs, and drilled the holes for the battery cables.

Steve I've been able to get my modern Mopar paints from my Dodge dealer and have good results with them. They sell there paint in 10 oz spray cans for around $12.

Thanks Dan! Well...............I did take off of work today and managed to hit the bench.  A couple of days ago I was working on the windshield washer reservoir and was trying to paint it. First off , the tank is molded in and I suck at tight quarters painting and trying to make it look good as demonstrated here:

This..........simply would not do. I had a spare kit of this car molded in white ....sooooo.......

We go to work...............

Now the other reason I did this is because I wanted that white plastic jug "looK" for this.  I cut the molded in reservoir from the original kit and cleaned it up a bit.......

and test fitted 'er in right here....

Much better. I still have to give it that w/s washer fluid in the reservoir "look" so I'll be doing that tomorrow. Hope to be back at the bench in the morning. The medication has already worn off.....Yuk!!

Some more updates on the frame I lengthen it to make it a 200" wheel base tandem to make sure that I would have room for a car. I also painted the frame duipcolor red and I decided to use the tires from the Fuso. They are nice tires compared to the AMT tires. I've built and installed the engine and relocated the air cleaner to the drivers side as I'm going with a frame mounted muffler on the passenger side and there's no room for the air cleaner there.   I also worked on the frame work to support the rear upper car.   Here's a shot of the tight clearance before trimming the wheel covers.

Awesome, awesome, awesome.  That trailer, the model A, all looking awesome.  I need to check back every day to keep up, so much has happened since I last posted.  Looking good everyone - keep 'em coming.

I had 2 days in a row off and was able to spend some serious time with the 66.  I was going to try to detail stuff like Mustang does with lots of great pics and nice details but I just end up taking some starter pics then forget and take a completed pic, so the thought was there but the pics still suck.

I am trying to use my airbrush for more stuff so I thawt I would try laying some tamiya semi gloss black on the interior.  I'm not the best (or even good) at getting the sheen the same across all the parts so I dusted them all with dullcote so they look the same once all the detail was done.

I'm not sure if this is a tip, or if everyone but me already knew this but I thought I would share it anyway in case it was new to some. 

I saw it in a Scale Auto magazine, it was just a picture but the writer pressed 2 new number 11 blades together and slit the BMF making these fine, super thin chrome strips-pictured below.  They fit perfectly for the door trim section below the handle (pictured above) and from the photos in the article are the perfect width/thickness of the chrome trim in most 60s/70s muscle car consoles. 

You don't have to use a ruler or anything just hold one end with your finger tips and drag the two blades, cheek to cheek slowly across the sheet.  The lines in the pic were all freehand, it's about a 5 inch piece of bmf I had left over.  You can also space the thin lines so you can use the in between bits for smaller items like handles or dash knobs.  So I don't know if that's new but I was able to do the thin trim piece around the centre console.  No way I was going to get it decent looking without this trick.

I just kinda started in the middle there but I wanted to contribute something to this thread :)

Okay, here goes...

Firstly, the current state of the Jordan J197 - Tameo 43rd.
Don't get excited... It's been at this state for the best part of a month. I must just get my act together and sit down and just DO that front suspension. The flash (esp at the scale) made it look as if the paint is translucent  - to the eye it's not. And the mark on the cockpit side is nothing, it will be covered by the HANS supports - will most likely have to remove all paint in that area to get a better fit.

So here it is:
 

Next up, the start of the Tyrrell P34 - Tamiya 20th.
Most basic of starts in the engine department, next up will be the covers, which will take some layers and drybrushing, etc. So will take a while... And also the blue 76 cockpit cover! Glued and a bit of initial pre-paint sanding done to get rid of the major glue line plus some mold imperfections. Will paint all the blue stuff together... it will be quite a batch!

Thanks. I've got one side block sanded today and it's looking good, but I pushed a little to hard on the other side and cracked the joint around the skirt. It's not to bad so I just filled the crack full of glue and I'll go back over it again with a thin layer of the putty and then block sand it in a couple of days. I would like to primer it this weekend so I can check it.

Here is the duster. It is a lot more work. Countless hours have been put into the chassis. It's mini tubbed, springs moved inboard, Dana 60 cut into 4 pieces, narrowed and reinstalled. There is a cage to be built yet and a bunch of other stuff. I made the hood by grafting in a 69 super bee six pack scoop. That was to make room for the hemi! Yes, I said hemi. I made the intake, detailed the dominator and wired it up. It's going to be a bad street car when it's done

Got started on the 67 camaro. Building it as a "day two" car. What that means is a car that has a few period correct mods that would have been done soon after the owner took possession to go rule the streets and strips of the country. The wheels are aluminum torq thrusts and also some of the speed parts this one will wear. Color is up in the air but I have an idea. The wheel centres will be lightened up a bit.

I also had to check out the trailer where the plan is to carry 6 cars. The trailer fits together very good and should be strong enought to carry the cars. The first thing with the trailer is to change the trailer connection to the truck from on top of the frame to a lower trailer hitch. I cut the front section of the trailer and lowered it. 

I also checked the opening between the wheels and found that there would not be enought room to get my MOPARs through so I cut down the wheel covers about 2 scale inches to fix the problem.

Rob, just a stunning build!  ....and quick!  Can't believe how fast you got that guy finished!

Eric, the fender skirts look great, and I love those 5-spoke Cragars. You gonna re-chrome 'em?

Joe, the Challenger looks better & better with each viewing.  That is going to be one awesome build!

All in all, just amazing stuff from you fellas!

As for myself, work has been tedious on the dragster. Being a 40+ year old kit, there is lots of flash, prominent mold seams, & ejection pin marks to deal with, but it'll be worth it. The styrene is quite soft, both a blessing and a curse I'm discovering. Not a speck of paint has been applied yet, as most of the work has involved parts clean-up, but I've managed to get some of the engine sub-assemblies together. The Goodyear sliks have some nasty seams right down the middle and have been quite the challenge so far, but we're persevering.  I'm really hoping to have some progress pics up in the next few days.

As a side note, I found a pic online of this car from early '72 in a configuration Tony Nancy used to be more competitive with the newer rear-engined dragsters.  He deleted all the body panels forward of the engine, and it looks pretty darn cool, so that's the one I'm going with.

The FUSO transported kit provided the bed for the bottom car and the base for the headache frame. The frame section lifts up to allow the cab to tilt forward.
