Hey Mustang, what gauge (or source) are the wires you are using?  I think I need to tear a telephone apart for some thin harder wires.  I have 2 sizes of wire, one too big, one seems too small -just curious what you were using.

The 66 master is a single bowl? I dunno what they are called but it doesn't look quite like yours.  It must have only been front or rear power brakes.  I'll do my best with it anyway.

Looking good Eric.  What colour is that interior?  I like that leather look.  Don't spread yourself too thin with too many projects.  I learned I can't be doing multiple projects, you seem to be doing alright with it but I'm way too disorganized to try that again. lol  I'd end up binding a 350 to a zero or worse.  Actually, hmmm. lol

Nice progress Mopar, that mustang in your other thread is nice too.  You should share all your trucks, I saw them on the shelf in your pics :)

I didn't upload any pics so nothing to share again from me.  I'll get caught up soon.

Hi, my name is Seabe and I have a problem... I allegedly build model cars, but my buddies on the GB are putting me to shame.

Sorry, had to bring a bit of humour into a dire situation, it's the only way I survive! Great going guys! Some awesome progress here.

My covers are basically done. After many alternative attempts, I was forced to go back to what I hated - drybrushing. I never get good results with it, but the funky new tricks I thought may help me out, all backfired. Which, in the end led to drybrushing on even lowered (due to another effort which involved sanding...) edges... Oh well, will see shortly (hopefully tomorrow)  if they even fit onto the engine block.

Keep going! This is an awesome active auto GB - love it.

Thanks Mustang. Those Brake lines are nifty. I think it would be neat to do one with complete brake lines and fuel lines from the tank. Maybe some day lol.

Managed to get the brake lines formed this morning. These will terminate into the frame rail as there is NO detail on the bottom of this car , i.e. brake rotors/ calipers or anything of the like to route the lines to. I'll do the best with what I have (model and wallet that is! lol).

Tail lights and gussets look great Dan! Keep 'em coming bud!

Eric: Man that 51 looks great so far. I have a weakness in body work but am slowly getting better at it.  Hope you get some more bench time. It's the one thing I always want and never can seem to get enough of! lol

I was able to slip out to the shop for a couple of hours today.

I primed the right side of the 51 to see if it's flat. It is close, but it needs a little more sanding. I block sanded the other side that cracked and then added the putty. I also got started on the interior. The color is the same on the interior, just photo had the flash go off hehehe.

I also primed and painted the engine for the 66 Impala.

The paint is stripped off the 37 Ford, so I also got it cleaned up and ready to start working on again.

I have to go to Nashville tomorrow, but hopefully can get some more bench time also. :)

Eric

Got up before church today and finished up the gussets on the trailer and installed the tail lights on the mud flaps. Going to work on the other ladder.

kenjitak

Hi Mustang1989, I'd like to get in on this build with a 67 Malco Gasser, hope it's not too late.

Oh that is such a cool car, I've always wanted to build that kit.  Glad you joined, looking forward to those updates.

Mustang - I assumed you were going to paint it still but it looks even better now.  And the hose going into the bottle?  I don't know what to say to that-I'm looking forward to seeing it. lol

With the polite advice of a couple of good folks I decided to revamp the overall master cylinder/brake booster appearance. Still need to work on the weathering and minor details but here's the latest:

Update: What the hell. I had a couple of extra minutes so I painted the retainer and made the reservoir look more like an iron color than a bright silver by weathering just a tad.

Thanks for all the encouragement here

Was able to get a little time on the bench tonight. Built the ladder on the passenger side and started adding the gussets on the trailer.

Joe the master brake cylinder is going to look. Good on the firewall.

Gord thanks.

Later today I'm going to be reworking the ladders on the truck and add some gusset plates on the trailer.

The truck itself is gonna be a master piece Dan and then you add in the transport half of it.....WOW!

Well this morning I got up and continued onwards with the master cylinder reservoir cap retainer. I was just about to paint it and it flew out of my forceps in the the "wild brown yonder" otherwise known as my dang carpet. So I had to start all over with it and make another one but this time I didn't loose it!! I got that painted and installed and turned my attention to the brake booster check valve. I had drilled a hole in the booster yesterday in preparation for its installation........but yesterday I had no clue what I was going to use for the valve!Indifferent   Well after some much needed rest I figured it all out this morning. I cut the head of a bobby pin off and painted it black and then inserted that into the booster. I left just enough room between the head of the pin and the booster to insert a hose neatly underneath it to run to the engine.  Here's the pin:

I still have to put some gloss on the valve to replicate a shiny black plastic but here's the results of the valve and the cap retainer:

Brake lines are next..............

Yea Eric that's exactly it.  I had to nip off the little frame alignment tabs and there were 2 pins under the oil pan cross section area.  I had to nip those off as well and skew it a bit as I already had it all assembled.  It appears straighter now. lol

Mustang -thanks for the jug tips.  The Impala jug is a clear part so I guess start by painting it white.  I'm gonna try my had at adding that detail to the master as well.  Nice stuff.

Mopar -Those wheels look good.  Great progress.

I guess I should do a from the start post to catch up as well.  Too busy today, next time. :)  Great updates guys.  Nothing from me.

Ok now I'm caught up with my current progress. It was a good morning for painting. Sprayed the cab white and cleaned off BMF Dodge letters afterwards before the paint was to hard. Also painted the front bumper chrome and the rear mud flap with misc parts red.

I will have some more progress to report later tonight. I'm reworking the ladders on the truck to match the ones on the trailer. Also looking at the trailer I noticed that the main joints on the frame has gusset plates so I'm going to add them to the new joints that I added.

Thanks Joe, Eric and Seabe.

Seabe - Joe gets the credit he was the one that provided me with the information on the silver pencel. It's Prismacolor - Silver Argent # PC949 and Hobby Lobby carries them.

joe the master cylinder is going to look very cool

Great catch there Eric!!!

Ok for todays update we switch to the master cylinder. I cut a section of copper wire from that fuel pump relay that I had laying around and bent it in the form of a master cylinder cap retainer. May have to do some more tweaking and then paint it but here it is so far:

after that I'll move on to the brake lines and brake booster check valve and vacuum hose to the engine.

Thanks Mopar-D. I'm still amazed with your project.

Gord,

I took a look at my Chassis and it is wonky. I think I figured out the issue. The cut out for the axle assembly is deeper on the left side by about .022. By the time it gets out to the wheel I can see it is very noticeable. When I get ready to install that part, I'll square it up and then fill in where I had to make adjustments. Thanks for the heads-up.

L8TR,

Eric

I used the fifth wheel from the Frightliner and first I cut cut it down in size to about 2/3's. I also built the rear mud flaps using some checker plate. I added some ladders and a little walk way on the upper section of the truck. I'm planning to get some more painting done this week end as the sun is suppost to come out.

I added some supports for the ramps on the back of the truck and painted the wheels.
