Today's update: I got started painting the front suspension and rear axle/ suspension. Not much in the way of overall progress but another step added onto the 2000 steps I've gotten through so far:

I got this kit (BMW) on a yard sale, years ago - there were actually ona and half kits and have cost me 2$ - so now I've found out what to do with the leftover parts :-)

Ok it's update time. I spent alot time this morning on the chassis detailing and painting the brake and fuel lines, removing all the seam lines and flash from the differential and the front suspension (this was enough to drive a sane man crazy)  and test fitting all the parts. I also broke out my spare kit that's molded in white and the spare tire set that I have for my 66 Mustang and put every thing together in a mock up to see if I could get the stance and the tire / fenderwell clearances I needed....particularly at the rear of the car. I had to mess with the spacing of the wheel backing a little but I got everything together and the mock up/ test fit yielded promising results.

 Here's how the stance will look:

There are times (far and few between) where I feel like I've overcommitted myself with GBs but then I remember that I'm handling it ok and only building in one GB at a time. Well I'm off today (as I am every Friday) and I'll be putting in a couple of hours at the bench like you.

I started work on the chassis this morning and am still sorting out the wiring issues. I also added a hose to the windshield washer reservoir. It's coming along sloooowly but I'd rather take my time and only have to do this once. lol

Will post pics in a bit.

Update: I just started over with the chassis because I'm going to have to change the ride height on it to accomodate the wheel/ tire combo.

 Still have to do a little touch up (don't I always?) but she's started...........

I agree with Mopar, the Teflon tape is brilliant! One suggestion I might add though is to run the wires parallel to each other as they are in a harness instead of twisted. I think it would make it easier to wrap and also wouldn't have the curves showing from the twists.

Joe this is a great method to create the wire harness I would of never thought of using Teflon tape to wrap the wires  A little black paint and they will look perfect  

just a little update on the truck I've added a spare tire to the inside headache bar and a couple more gussets  

Folks I'm going to try something totally new to me today as it's been weighing on my mind about how to replicate a mummified (a.k.a. tapped/wrapped) wiring harness. It's all in the experimental stages now and I may have to switch to a slightly smaller gauge wire to accommodate the scale thickness to my build here but here goes.

 First I start with two strands of wire clamped at one end by my table vise and two strands of much thinner wire. Then I gather my tools and materials:

 I didn't get pics of the initial process but I think you'll get the jist here. I used the lockwire pliers to put neat wraps in the wire and took the two much smaller pieces of wire and inserted into the wraps at about the midpoint and continued the wraps until it was fairly tightly wound. I then applied a bead of super glue along the length of the wrapped wire set. At that point I cut a strip of the teflon tape and started wrapping the twisted wire set like I would with electrical tape. To get this:

 I continued on until I ran out of tape and, unfortunately, time this morning but this is where I'm at right now. Will continue onwards tomorrow morning and have the four wires as breakout circuits for the ballast resistor and the wiper motor. Again I'm probably going to have to go with smaller gauge wire but I've got the thought process down to application now anyways

I do see myself adding more super glue to the wraps to keep it from looking so much like wrapped twisted wire but we're getting there.

Looks good so far Eric. Colors that come to mind are a lighter shade of purple with black and white trim, Cherry red or black. Good luck on the choice though.

About all I did today was clean parts, but the 37 was dry enough for  a test fit. This will give an I dea of how it's gonna look. I thinks I like it hehehehe. Still haven't decided on an interior color yet.

It looks like Revell may be reissuing there car transporter this year. I hope they do and maybe Hobby Lobby will sell them.

 On a brighter note if HL does in fact end up selling them and you get your hands ahold of one Dan, it'll be a knock out build!! 

Thanks Gord the gray transporter is the AMT 5 car hauler and the blue one is the Revell 6 car transporter. Both of the trailers are on eBay but usally go for over $100. It looks like Revell may be reissuing there car transporter this year. I hope they do and maybe Hobby Lobby will sell them.

Joe I stared back building trucks in 2008. I built a bunch of them back in the 70's but they are all long gone now.  Your brake lines look good I've used a soft wire for brake lines to make them bend easer in the tight area. I don't remember where I bought the wire.

Mopar -thanks for the pics.  Those trucks are great.  The green utility truck is really cool and I love the Mopar delivery rig.  Great stuff.  Are all the car hauler trailers custom scratch builds?  That is so much cooler than a diorama I was thinking of using to display with.  You can display so many more kits too.  Awesome.

Some incredible automotive genius work happenings in here guys...just epic!!

Well this morning I spent tinkering around with the voltage regulator a little more and working on the brake line fit with the master cylinder mounted up. Anytime I do alot of mods / additions to my builds I always make sure to have a spare kit close by for stuff like this (in this case I have two spare kits! lol). 

 With the master cylinder mounted up in the body, the lines needed a whole lot more tweaking to wind up in the right place on , or in this case, in the frame. I found out that I had to bend the lines more towards the center of the car at the point where they exit the master cylinder. I had to make some other pretty big adjustments to them and still have a little ways to go but here's the mock up:

Excellent job on those wheels!

Eric: Looks like your coming right along nicely. That 51 is looking pretty smooth. I'm looking forward to how the Ford shapes up.

Fred: Man those look real!! What's the technique you use on the rubber?

Those trucks are awesome!

Here's a little progress on mine for today.

I sanded the other side of the 51 Chevy and then re-shot the body with primer. I still have a few pesky spots to sand but I should have it all evened out this week.

I cleaned up the 37 Ford and primed it this morning and then shot the hot pink pearl and gloss black tonight after I got back from Nashville. I also painted the frame. I like this color combo hehehehe.

I'm still waiting on the hood for the Impala so I can get them primed and painted.

Eric, Gordy and Dan:Thanks alot for the encouragement! Gordy I don't know what size wire it is but I can measure it and find out. I do, however, know this- I have to give my eyes constant breaks. One thing is for sure! I aint in my dang 20's or 30's anymore!!!! 

Gordy. You asked here are the trucks you saw in the back ground. dodge Big Horn and Frightliner with a tri axel gravel hauler.

The interior is Model Master Acrylic Leather. I think it will go good with the Tangerine. The dash will also be tangerine.

The 66 did have a single chamber master cylinder since they had 4 wheel drum brakes.

I like to have at least 2 going at a time so when I get bored or have wait for something to dry I can work on something else. :)
