Okay folks, here's some newer pics of the ME410. Finally starting to look like an airplane. Since the AB needle got bent and is out of action, finishing the build with the brushes. Using the brushes and cotton swabs for the mottling. Any thoughts, does it seem like too much? First time adding this type of detail. Waiting for a set of landing gear from scale aircraft conversions in order to finish the bottom.

Thanks Andy. Its not quite as grey as that image looks, but it definetly has a grey edge to it. A lot of colour drawings i see it looks more grey and for some time i woundered if they had got it wrong. But i think as with most paints, especially from this period and even more so with late war German's, there are variations depending on who made the paint. I can't iagine they were able to get the mix exactly right every time.

Very true Bish. That's why it helps so much to have references. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the camo!

Everyone's builds are looking fantastic! I'm hoping to get my kit very soon and get started. Life has been happening a lot lately and I've been working on some other builds as well.

Just a short update. I finally got the wings and tail on last week with just a small bit of filler needed. Then it was masked up and ready for painting.

Then got the RLM 76 applied on Sat. because i need to mask for the top colours, i left it for a couple of days. I got the 81 on tonight so its now in the drying box, hopefully i'll be able to add the 82 tomorrow.

Also made a start on the engine putting the two halves together, a coat of black primer and some aluminium. Here it is next to its big brother from Revell. All paint is Alclad on these.

And finally a start on the base. I got the concrete painted tonight after taking this, so its now ready for the celluclay.

More soon.

Coming along nicely Bish! Is the RLM 76 as gray as it looks in the pics? I see so many variations on that color and I'm never sure if I've got the shade right. Does it just come down to eye and preference?

Looking great Everyone! And a Welcome to the group for the new builds.... Hermann decided to show some of the progress he has made

The engines have a fair amount of pieces to them, and as stated in other builds of this kit, its a shame to cover it up.

Good morning, Gents

First of all, Im really blown away from all the builds so far. Stellar work, everyone! Also wanted to let you know that I am still in this. I have had to take time to finish this 1/48 P-38L and FINALLY have it wrapped up. Some projects I have to finish or they will never get done if I shelve them for something else. i also need to find a new way to store images and post easily. Photobucket app has turned into a huge turd.  So my little 1/32 190D-9 has been ready to begin with all aftermarket goodies:

I am still racking my brain on a color scheme. Id like a late war bird thats pretty worn and sporting the lime blue green rlm 76. I would love to do the Barkhorn scheme but my nightmare ex girlfriend's name is Crystal and his plane has 'Christl' on the side. Maybe thats a stretch? Indifferent

Ironically I think im going to go with this appropriately titled set and the controverisal Blue/Yellow 15 from JG 26:

http://decals.kitreview.com/decals/amd32012decalreviewrb_1.htm

Basic office and harness work has been done:

Not much to show here but Im feelin it and am ready to dive in. Also, as this is my first 1/32 build, I am LOVING it! My only concern is I'll be saying goodbye to 1/48 kits after this. Take care, all and keep up the awesome work!

Steve

Those pit parts look really nice! Looking forward to seeing it all painted up!

You know, stuff happens. It just fell (of course!) directly onto the needle while I was picking up the nose cover. Will just finish up with the brushes....

TempestJohnny, gotta love the timing of advice!  No sooner I reply to your memo, go to clean the AB and end up dropping it right onto the needle point! Guess I'll just continue working on the Me410 with brushes and replace/clean the unit whenb I return to the States! Just another day at the funny farm....

Awww mayan!!!4fvgdaq_th Hate to hear that bad news on the airbrush. Dang that hurts me just hearin' about it!!!

That pit of yours is coming along nicely. Great details so far!

I've been tied up with other projects and house things So very little work has been done on my 162.

Great looking 162 and 410 pit. I need to get back to my Salamander.

About the paint buildup in the Ab try running lacquer thinner. It will dissolve dried up enamels and acrylics really easy. I also have a Neo and run lots of LT thru it to wash out all paint residue.

Tempesrjohnny, Thanks. I'm using MM and vallejo acrylics, only stuff my wife was able to send me. I've been having some issues I think with paint buildup within the AB, will work on getting more into the NEO and look for some Windex. Appreciate the note.

tempestjohnny

Mike. Cockpit looks great. You didn't mention if using enamels or acrylics. Enamels I use Home Depot bought lacquer thinner. Acrylics I use windex. Thorough cleaning unscrew the tip clean out inside. Take needle off and gently wipe down whole thing. Tip of needle is extremely fragile. I have the NEO too.
