Darren - agreed on the "I was going to do the standard splinter etc. etc.." comment... why can't life just be easy? Wink [;)] Actually I put the FW-190 aside for a bit as I stripped the Zero from her original paint (for the Midway build) and suddenly got excited and want to finish her.. I'll need to buy some more RLM 02 soon as it is part of the paint for the Zero...

I am about 70% done with the FW190 and will post pics when I get there.. things have been a little rough so I haven't been posting much lately but hopefully that all will change soon...

Seems Kremps opened up a franchise coffee shop and she had plans for me to do the wireless netowrk for the customers and forgot to tell me. Problem was it was in a refurbished barn and she wanted me to hide the wires... where?? in the rafters???

I missed the old gal though, glad she is settling down again after all those jaunts with Jules.,... hopefully she will stick around a bit this time... and if she ever stops working Jules so hard maybe he'll have time to post! She has him working as bus boy, cleaning tables and such... most nights he doesn't get off till 4am or so and back to work at 6....

James, sorry about the lunch hour buddy and I hope the pics are what you were after.

Tom ahhh ha, wireless right, rafters right, won't Kremps ever learn!!!!!! One thing though, does she serve a good cup of coffee? If so I am there, my who work day revolves around a good brew (that’s the coffee kind not the beer kind).
Speaking of wireless and completely [#offtopic, we have a major road here in Melbourne where a lot of IT Companys make their home that you can travel down by tram car with a notebook PC on your lap and you will not loose connectivity to the net the whole trip, you just jump from one unsecured network to another. Some people just don't have a clue do they.

Seriously though, I hope your rough patch evens out real soon and I'm looking forward to seeing some more pics of the FW190.

Cheers
Darren

Darren - the 190 is all taped up and (I think) sufficiently sanded where I had to provide some putty on the port wing root... it was odd and probably my fault (I just can't see how Wink [;)]) but when puttin on the upper wing surfaces the port one was about .5mm too long it seems, I had to do some creative sanding to get it to match up with the lower half and ended up with a piece knocked out I had to putty up. Other than that it went together like a charm!

As far as Kremps and her café.... I wouldn't recommend it more than once... I mean you should stop in and say hi to her as she is so excited with the new business, maybe have a piece of her sauerkraut coffee cake, but don't drink the coffee.... it's her own brew and I could swear there is the faint tinge of anti-freeze in it! Bring your laptop and watch in surprise as your OS locks with the incessant flapping of the ports on her network... seems she thought putting 3 access points in one corner of the room would get them faster throughput in that area. (Her 'VIP' area...) I asked her if the name implied she would be giving table dances there and she got me in a head lock and kicked me out... Disapprove [V]

Darren I know a guy who got chucked out of Starbucks the other month for surfing the web on his PDA after he'd finished his coffee.......

....so he went and stood outside their window and did it from there!!!!Approve [^]

More like clueless than wireless!

Another off topic excursion, but do you have people who sit in meetings working wirelessly on their laptops rather than actually participating in the meeting? It makes my blood boilDisapprove [V]

Tom Have you considered going 'Dirty' LAN?Wink [;)] Hope the neck loosens up soon after that altercation with her majesty.

Oh, and is she still doing that Ersatze Kafe, you know the one with an after taste of acorns?

Darren and Karl -

I just remembered bu the instructer in the Suse Linux class I just took was sayig he prefers to take the bus to work because he can literally roam from wireless network to wireless network the entire 15+ miles... these are some of the foremost petrochemical and scientific companies in the world mind you... how odd... (of course the occasional Starbucks thrown in haha)

What infuriates me is my own boss... he just HAD to get this blackberry assisant, he has no idea how to use it. We'll be in the middle of a meeting on some really cool technology and all of a sudden "beep...beep beep" he's over there with that little stylus fumbling with something, all of a sudden he will laugh and interrupt the meeting to tell of whatever function he just figured out and even to the point of questioning the presenter if he knows how to get something else to work... (best voice from Star Trek) "Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor not a blackberry specialist!" I keep hoping he drops it... funny thing is when I see him pull out of the parking lot he always has it glues on his ear, I am sure asking the person on the other end if they were aware he was talking to them over his digital assistant... (He's very proud of how little..er... how much he knows about technology"

Well he doesn't have pointy hair... but I am sure would could pull the old etch-a-sketch laptop trick on him... where all you have to do to reboot is hold it upside down and shake it...

Disapprove [V] where do these people come from?

The old 'Etch-a-sketch' trick never fails.

We have a senior manage where I work who bears an uncanny resemblance to Dilbert's boss!

actually 2 jobs back I actually HAD the pointy hair boss, but he was thin so that detracted somewhat from the stupid looks he had... didn't make it quite so 'close to dilbert'

I think it is a physics thing... "Dilbert's law"... the size and stupidity of the IT Director is directly proportionate to the size in numbers and intelligence of the crew working under him....

My IT Director is actually pretty sharp, it's some of those that work in the food chain between him and me that worry me! You know the ones that keep saying 'Yes' without really understanding the implications of 'Yes'.

ok it's not the cockpit (which I know I have pics of just not sure where on the computer thay are) but I have an engine shot... it looks a bit different now as I dirtied it up a little but this is MM buffing Burnt Metal on the cylinders and Alclad aluminum on the push rods (I know they weren't aluminum but it looked better than the "silver" the called out for... this looks more metallic silver and once greased up a bit didn't shine so much...)

of course the sad thing is IF you put on your magnifier you can catch a glimpse of about 1mm of the engine past the intake air ducts... I worked long on it too... oh well I know it is in there...

edit ---

after seeing the pic after I posted it, I realize this is AFTER I applied the oil wash and before I had wiped it all off.... after that I did a little dry brushing to tone down the shinyness of the cylinder caps etc... it was somewhat darker when I finished...

I won't be working on the FW-190 for a bit as the Pearl Harbor GB started and I have been ITCHING to start my 1/32 P-26 Peashooter... I'm doing it in NMF probably, as the ones on Wheeler were listed as on Dec 7... Although I hate to because those bright greens and blues with the insignia yellow wings really do somthing for me!!! (yeah, NMF is fringe... Disapprove [V])

Tom Congrats on the 4,000!!!! Shock [:O]

I spent my weekend doing an extensive search of the archived database and found that 3,759 of your posts contained the word Kremps. I also did a search of all posts containing the word Kremps not posted by you and found 3,268 total. I passed this information on to Kremps and she was so touched she said she was on her way over with a special "surprise".

WOW Tom 3700+ posts about Kremps. Impressive. She must have avery special place in your heart. She has touched all of us but I think some (one) more than others...Big Smile [:D]Wink [;)]
