Thats OK Darren, I know the feeling.
I was spose to mail some Gunze flat to Pingy, but I'm so damn slack I haven't had a chance yet.
(Sorry Pingy)

And getting time online is harder than getting modelling time at the moment, being winter and all work is flat out and the drive isn't there to model like when the weather is warmer.

Maybe it's cause I'm getting olderConfused [%-)]
Might ask someone really old and see what they say.

Tom does the colder weather slow down your modelling time????

Gotta ask Sean, what do you consider 'cold' out in the middle of Australia. I found a site that listed the Alice Springs Airport as 7.9 at 23:30 on Friday. Here in Calgary it is August (our summer, usually) and I regularily ride my bicycle to work and when I left the house this morning it was 5 at 07:00. With the high at 20 and min at 2, you sound like us (Calgary)in the Summer! Sometimes we get above 30.

Clown [:o)] no worries, we all get aclimatised to the area we live in. BTW, how big is Alice Springs? population wise.

Sean When the paint didn't turn up, I thought some paint sniffing little street urchin had flogged it on me. Now I know that you haven't sent it yet. Doesn't matter though, I haven't got a model to the stage where it needs a flat coat yet Sad [:(].

Our weather patterns are really wacked out hereDisapprove [V]
Our summers most years will swing from 20C over night, hit 36C by 9:00 am, and if the winds right, by 1pm the average can be 45C.
And thats the usual summers day.
Alot of road repairs are carried out in summer cause or roads kinda flow into the gutter.

Winter usually drops to around -5 plus wind chill, and in early winter can reach as high as 35C in the middle of the day, or it can stay as low as 13C.

Our biggest hassle is the readings they take at the airport.
The airport is outside of town on a flat open plain, and Alice Springs itself is set in a 'bowl' surrounded by hills, so when it's cold it's REALLY cold, and when it's hot.............
Our population is around 30,000 people.
We also have the highest murder rate per capita of the entire country.
Maybe it's the weather that makes people do it....................

Sorry for the short novel, but you did askSmile [:)]Wink [;)]Tongue [:P]

Now you may find that there's some strange people on this build but don't worry they are quite normal, sort off Tongue [:P]

Strange people in this GB? I don’t know what you’re talking about.

(Don’t you remember back in June when I was sucked intoxxxxx…er…ah… joined, this GB that you wanted to lure me in before I could figure out what was really going on? Before it was too late?)

But keep in mind you will have to be tested and approved by someone know as Kremps… or is it The Kremps? All I know is every now and then my phone rings at an ungodly hours and all I here is a deep raspy heavy breathing, a loud cackling laugh and a hang up. So there is a price with approval. But I am babbling again…. Oh wait… gluing bottom wing in before putting in cockpit…BAD…. Babbling in this GB… GOOD!

Nope…no strange people in this GB at all.

Sean, thanks, if you want to try real cold, come up to Canada in January! (remember the BoB GB when I was complaining about -35 in the snow!)

Brian you did it now, you are part of us and there ain't no way you're getting out! bwahahaEvil [}:)]
Are the monogram kits you have the ones with decals for Col. J.D. Landers' 'Big Beautiful Doll' and the silver/greeen mustang from the 55th FG? Those are my favourite two mustang markings right there, I love the 78th FG black and white checker nose and the 55th green/yellow checker nose with the way thier planes have the back half olive green and front/wings silver. Some day I'll do a kit for each FG.
Take care and Welcome to the GB.

If you want to get ideas for those two Mustangs, check out http://www.littlefriends.co.uk/

wing_nut - yeah I noticed I've gotten a few phone calls like that myself lately. I think Kremps has been hitting her famous 'medicinal' tonic again. One night she even broke into a rousing chorus of "Jerusalem" ... I got scared to stay home with her like that so I drove 2 towns over and got a hotel room!

Tweety - you can keep that weather... we only have two seasons here... hot..... and hotter! With a one week stretch in February where it gets down below freezing...

Jay - my biggest memory of the northlands was when we left Israel wearing our summer white uniforms because it was about 41deg there, and flew into Gander, Newfoundland and it was about -34 and we had to disembark from the plane so it could refuel... Worst part was the terminal was closed so we had to stand on the runway and jump up and down for 45 min till it did. Only scary part was when we didn't feel cold anymore... [:0]

Brian - welcome to the asylum group build! Looking forward to seeing those Mustangs!!!

Who said that there were strange people in this GB???? I thought Kremps had fixed them all up..... Her tough lady Confused [%-)] tactics obviously haven't worked. Maybe she'll have to become nice and caring to fix this lot up.....(now isn't that a scary thought!!!).Smile [:)]

BTW, What better place than this to make 2000 posts. Never thought I'd make it.......

Especially when she said the CS would make a good Xmas present!!!! Big Smile [:D]

I've only used it once so far today... and I can honestly say it sprays future better than the old one Laugh [(-D]Laugh [(-D] I'm really looking forward to finishing the FW-190 now, the mottle will be a bit easier!!! I've been wanting a gravity feed for awhile...

Tom Congrats on the new AB.Thumbs Up [tup]

If it sprays anything like my Badger 100, and I'm sure it will, then you are going to be amazed at the extra capability it will give you.

Daniel, Congratulations on the 2000 posts & shiney new star Thumbs Up [tup].

Tom, I have the Iwata Revolution & it's a very nice AB. I also have a Badger 100LG & a Paasche H. The Iwata & Badger are pretyy close to equal in capability, although I prefer the Badger because it fits my small hand better. The Badger does tend to splatter a bit more at low pressure than the Iwata. Practice a bit before you try the mottle on a build as the double action gravity feed takes a bit of getting used to, especially if you've been using a single action or syphon feed.

Regards, Rick

Rick that's the first thing I noticed... It's going to take some getting used to. One thing I noticed, and I don't know if it is because of the longer and finer taper of the Iwata, is that it took more trigger pull back with less thinned paint to get it to flow smooth than either of my badgers. But with slightly more thinned paint, I could go lower on the pressure and it atomized BEAUTIFULLY, a much finer coat it looked like than with the Badgers I have (155, 175) .. needle pull back was smooth and it felt nice and firm in my grip (I have larger hands) it felt very solidly built.

I'm looking forward to more practice and playing with this one. It will compliment me doing the camo on that FW-190 nicely. (I can't decide to do the splinter/mottle camo as instructions suggest or the winter camo. Either way I will have to do the standard camo first though because I want to do a "whitewash" camo over it after painting if I do the winter scheme. Just to play with a new type of scheme...

Daniel congrats on your 2000 posts and your shiny new red stars Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

Tom if I could recommend getting some Medea AB lube to keep that action nice and smooth. A small container costs a couple of bucks and will last you for ages.

Now this is a little way off topic (like we have a topic anyway) but does anybody else listen to music while posting. For me it's a must, I always have Windows Media player blasting out some tunes through the headphones. Joy Division's Love will tear us apart is playing now actually.

Oh yeah happy VJ day all.

Music is good while modeling, helps keep the soul relaxed.

I like to listen to some opera, Phil Collins, '70s, '80s and '90's, Iron Maiden, pretty much anything goes reallyBig Smile [:D]

Mind you, I have found that Maiden and airbrushing don't work well togetherBanged Head [banghead]

But I here Iron maiden an hairbrushing go together quite well Wink [;)]........

I listen to alot of music while I'm working on models. The new Coldplay album is getting alot of play at the moment. Same for the new White Stripes and Foo Fighters albums. Led Zeppelin and ACDC are also on the playlist.......

BTW, while we're off topic (will we ever be on topic??), who's gonna win the Ashes? I'd love to say the Aussies, but those Poms are looking good (or is it just that we're looking crap?). I know you Americans won't know what I'm talking about, so just ignore that last little bit.......Smile [:)]

Pingy & Sean good to hear I'm not the only one who listens to music thenCool [8D]

Ohhhh, don't talk about the ashes , I just checked the score and we are in the smelly stuff . 182-5 OMG [:0] the poms will romp this test in without raising a sweat. The simple fact is they have a very good batting and bowling lineup at the moment and the t is we are getting a bit old and are out of form.

Sincere apologies to all Americans, but this is important stuff.

Opera "AND" Iron Maiden? Glad I'm not the only messed up one that listens to classicala and Heavy Metal. I'm trying to balance out my head banger upbringing with my wife's classical background (she's a damn good violinist).

As for sports, how do the Flames look this year Jay? Think they'll make another run at the cup? Now that I live in BC I guess I'll cheer for the Canucks. Hey... it could be worse, I came very close to moving to Edmonton.

Flames? who cares! I bleed copper and blue baby!!!

Sorry buddy, I grew up close to Edmonton cheering for Gretzky and the boys in blue back in the 80's and that is where my allegiences lie (and always will). Sorry to hear you don't care for that area. That's not to say I won't ever cheer for the Flames, like when they make it to the cup finals (I was at game 6 in the Saddledome, ice level seats!!!). The only team I truly hate in the NHL is the Toronto Maple Leafs.

After seeing all the trades the past two weeks, Edmonton and Calgary look really good. The Penguins are going to be a force. This is the year, I am calling it right now. All 6 Canadian teams are going to make the finals, hopefully none of them will have to play each other. Hockey is one of the greatest sports in the world!!! (just don't ever call it ice-hockey, that is a big no-no up here)

Uh oh, did I just open a big ugly nasty can-o-worms?

Naaa, a friendly debate is always good.
