Hey Darren, I posted the newer map with better lettering a few pages back. I see you haven't updated the first page with the new map. I find it really hard to read the lettering on the badge in peoples sigs.

Darson, just so you know it's a Panter G "Night Fighting Panther" I have Fruilmodel tracks and Verlinden PE for the kit... It's kinda hot, an old kit, but man, the night vision equipment on the tank, and the night vision for the infantry (on their machine guns) is hot, looks like what they are planning for today's troops in the Future Warrior program!

James I know the kit you're talking about. I got it as a present a few years ago and it's been sitting in my stash ever since. You're right about the night vision gear it does look excellent.

Jay yeah I’ve been kinda busy. I've got your new badge saved to my hard drive. I'll try and do the editing tonight and then I'll post it up.

Cheers
Darren

Censored [censored] sorry James, I just read the part about your name. I'll fix up the first page.

Hi all I just wanted to post a little note to say that the updated clearer badge has been posted permanently on page 1.

As you can see here it makes a lot of difference.

Old Version

New Version

I have included three sizes of badge for you to choose from, regulation, slightly naughty and rebel, take your pick. I will ask that you please host the badge yourself to ease the burden on my Photobucket bandwidth, thanks again to Jay for doing the badge.

Ok, research on the Spit isn't going to well at allSad [:(]

Might have to switch to the P-51A I think.
Of course, there is time to plan.

Anyone know of any funky looking P-51's????????

Sean I have been doing a fair bit of digging myself and have come up with not much as far as post D-Day Mk.VIII's in the ETO I'm afraid.
As far as the p-51A is concerned I think you're going to have to stick to an RAF Mustang as by that stage (1944-45) the US had well and truly passed them over for the B and D models. I have found a couple of schemes for the P-51A which look pretty good, what do you think?

Daniel, I know what you mean about sigs, since I made mine just one gif file to save size and reduce loading time, every time I decide to change my sig it becomes a major operation.

Well fellas i'm back, i had a dose of real life over the last week which has kept me away from the forums not to mention some more PC gremlins sneaking in.......

Anyway Hows "KrempsQuestion [?]

Sean, Pingy and Darren Fellas all the parsels you guys sent me made it here in good order and thanks very much for you outstanding generosityThumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]
Tweets, Mate what are you trying to do to meQuestion [?] This Verlinden set for the HE 219 is a whole lot more complex than i imagined, I had no idea that it came with an engine, suffice to say that everything will be going in gun bays engine the works, cant't wait to have it all finished, if i can nail the paintjob it should be a real eye openerThumbs Up [tup]
BTW I've built the Hasegawa Spit IX and i'm building the the Has MK VIII at the moment and i can tell you that the kits are identical, exactly the same sprues but i will check all the panel lines to see if there is any differance but outwardly they look identical so in theory you could build your MK VIII as a MK IX and get away with it..........After all i built the MK IX as an VIII for last years Aussie GB and nobody noticed any differenceThumbs Up [tup]

Ok, my entry will either be the DML King Tiger Ardennes, or the Tamiya 1/72 P-47D Bubbletop. Both excellent kits.

Calvin, sorry I'm a bit dense but I'm not sure I understand what you are saying. What do you mean by "use the GB Joe designed!"?

Tanky solid choices there, both kits are excellent.

Jules welcome back mate, I was beginning to think you had been washed away in the floods or something. I was almost at the point of giving you a call but I didn't want to pry.
Great call with the Mk.VIII, you know I never would have known if you hadn't told me.

Cheers

Yeah the Congo was fun but "Kremps" went native on me and took off with some mountain Gorillas so i came back early, hence the reason for asking about her.....

Darren Yeah mate i checked out the panel lines on both the MK IX and MK VIII Hasegawa kits and they are most certainly the same molds, no differences at all except the MK IX cost $45:00 au as apposed to the $25:00 au i paid for the MK VIII......

Thanks Darren!
I dont have as many referances as I should, missus won't let me buy the book (or 20Tongue [:P]) I want for the shelf, so I mostly have the net, which can take a looooooong time.
Don't spose you have the top side slide for those 2 for the camo??????

Jules I thought the VIII had a pointy tail rudder and clipped wing tips??
I dont mean to be a 'rivet counter', but there are a couple of panel lines that would need adjustment, the VIII had a retractable tail wheel from memory, and the air intake was smaller and further back on the IX.
But it is doable, and a IX with invasion stripes next to the P-51A would look REALLY coolCool [8D].
AND they both used the same Merlin engine (Spits that is), so the CMK kit can still be usedBig Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

Jules Glad the package made it to you, was getting worried some mongrel had intercepted it and was stuffing my airbrush up!!!!
That Verlinden kit is really cool eh, cant beleive I got it for such a ridiculous priceBig Smile [:D]

I did tell you that the airbrush has the Teflon needle bearing in it, so you can use lacquers??

I'm in no rush to get it back, so take your time mate, and enjoyBig Smile [:D]Wink [;)]

Sean Thanks mate, i promise i won't stuff it upThumbs Up [tup] I'm planning on doing my next kit with the omni so it should be fun.....

BTW i don't really know to much about the difference between the VIII and IX but in the Has MK VIII kit you get the 2 tail option as well as the clipped wing option which gives you a starting point to convert it ......gotta go my times up on this shopping mall pc.....

Sean - According to all my references, the Hasegawa Mk.VIII kit can be built into a Mk.IX pretty much straight from the box. The only panel lines that need fixing are on the Ailerons. The Mk.VIII had the short span ailerons, so you have to fill the lines engraved for the short span ailerons. I think the long span Mk.IX ailerons are already engraved. The wing tips and long cord rudder are also supplied in the kit. So is the Mk.IX tail wheel.

Have a a look at this to see what is in the Mk.IX kit compared to the Mk.VIII:
http://modelingmadness.com/reviews/allies/gb/cleaverspit9preview.htm

And here is a cool looking spit Mk.IX with full invasion stripes:
http://modelingmadness.com/reviews/allies/gb/cleaverhspit9.htm

I also have a profile of a cool looking Norwegian Mk.IX with invasion stripes and Red and black stripes as well. I'll post it if you want to see it.

Here you go Sean. The Norwegian spitfire Mk.IX. The captions on the profiles explain it all. I reckon it would make a pretty interesting model with the invasion stripes and the Blue/white/red stripes too.
