Ryan & Zoran Welcome to the GB guysThumbs Up [tup], I hope you don't mind a little insanity to go with your modeling...........Wink [;)]

Now to get back On Topic::::::::::::::Kremps, wouldn't you think that a bunch of guys would create an imaginery freind who looks more like Carmen Electra rather than a 300 pound East German ex wrestler who dresses up in Wonder Woman suits while cracking billiard balls in between her thighs, not to mention her many varied other talents such as milking Yaks and electroshock torture:::::Errrr::::: i mean treatment, BTW I had an electroshock session yesterday and is it normal to use jumper leads and a truck batteryQuestion [?]

Usually, she just uses a car battery, but you must have done something "special" to get the truck battery. And, who said she was made-up??? I thought she was real........It's like finding out Santa wasn't real all over again.Sad [:(]

Sorry Pingy i'm still a little confused after the electroshock treatment, I meant to say why couldn't Happy acre's Hire a head nurse like Carmen Electra instead of a 300 pound East German ex wrestler who dresses up in Wonder Woman suits while ECT ECT ECT...................

Darren The Dragon Magic tracks sound good as they are a simple click together job, just like the Model Victoria ones I'm using on my Semovente. The only down side with the plastic tracks such as these and Modelkasten is the clean up required before use. That is one thing you avoid with the Friul tracks at least, which probably explains the price premium on these.

I went with indys on the Semovente because all the photos I had showed the tracks to be exposed on their upper run from the crew compartment back, and there was no way I could get the vinyl tracks to sag realistically over the return rollers.

Rick I've got Revell's 1/32 He162 in the stash, and was wondering about doing it for this GB as my AC contribution. CMK have a bucket load of resin due out soon, they have already released the replacement tail assembly and flight surfaces set, which looks stunning. Also Fritz have just brought out a load of decals for this kit, well worth a look.

You probably already know this, but Revell's 1/48 Me163 is a rebox of the Dragon kit without the PE and the hefty price tag.

Daniel It's good to do something a little different every now and then. And the one thing I have really enjoyed with the Semovente has been the lack of an interior to paint and detail, just build the superstructure. Quick & dirty!

Daniel,

This isn't a bad idea.... I would usually build aircraft, but haven't tackled a Dragon armor kit. The other night at the modelers meeting someone brought in the "Battle of the Bulge" M4A3 kit and it looks sweet. Dragon also just released a late production Tiger I.

So here are my possibilities:

1. Stay aircraft and build the Revell/Monogram B-17G - If I do this one I want to try the Alclad metal paints.

2. Another aircraft - Tamiya's ME-262 w/Kettenkraftrad

2. Dragon's new Tiger I

3. Dragon's M4A3 "Battle of the Bulge"...

Decisions, decisions.....

Did someone say Carmen Electra is joining this build! Hot Damn, I'm in 100% for sure! Don't know what my wife will say about that though, but hey, what she don't know won't hurt her. Yeah thats what they all say but they do have a way of finding out!

Dave, Almost got it past ya! Hadn't seen anything from you for a while, Hope your deal for the modeling workshop with a house attached to it goes through okay. Them lawyers sure milk ya eh? Having problems spelling Catchasnatchewan, I mean Snackasatchewan, er... oh never mind! Wink [;)]

Joe, I've got that DML "Battle of the Bulge" M4A3 kit and I took it along to the IPMS meeting the other night as well and the tank boys went nuts over it. I picked mine up through GMW because we won't see it here in Aus for a while yet.

Karl thanks for the heads up on the magic tracks. The only problem I have with Fruil tracks is that they can cost the same if not more than the original kit costs. On a really special build I could live with that, but as a regular thing no way.

This is something I've been tooling around with as a GB badge. What do you think, yes, no maybe? Also if anybody wants to jazz it up a bit "hint hint" I would appreciate it

Another image I was thinking off was this one

I'm just undecided at the moment

Cheers

Darren, I was thinking of something a little different, seeing as I deal with maps all day and some of those images are not immediately thought of as haveing to do with the invasion of germany (I wouldn't have known what building that was if you hadn't mentioned it earlier) I though of a map idea. check it out, something like this

Just another idea. Of course it would have to be shrunk and modified to fit the new criteria for GB badges.Smile [:)]

Jay and Darren Both are nice badges, Jay scores high on the color/attractive chart while Darren's scores high on the coolness factor. Especially that second photo Thumbs Up [tup] Hard to decide.

Jay the house I told you about, the one with the perfect Kremps suite... ahh... I mean model workshop was taken off the market just a couple of days before my wife came out Angry [:(!]. The owner changed her mind (womenAngry [:(!]). However, we found another one up on a hill with a gorgeous view of the valley. The work bench looks like it will be banished to the garage though. It is long enough that I can wall off a section and insulate/heat it somehow. I hope!

Jay great badge I love it Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]. I was trying to find an image that was colorful, recognisable and was representative of the whole conflict and that's what yours is. If it's OK with you I'll re-work the size a tad and host it for people to use.

Karl, the Revell boxing of the Dragon Me-163 was never imported into the US. An Airline Pilot freind of mine picked one up for me in England about three years ago, but I built it already. I do have a Dragon re-release in my stash however.

Jay, The badge looks great.

Good work Jay! I like the badge!! I like yours too Darren, but at the infintissimal small size it has to be I think Jay's will do nicely!

Dave - I just let Kremps sleep out in the woods behind my house... problem is sometimes she kills small animals and leaves them on my back porch as some sort of present.

To answer your question Jules, the reason Kremps is at Happy Acres and not Carmen Electra (or Salma Hayek Cool [8D]Cool [8D]Cool [8D]) is that you get what you pay for... plain and simple. Why do you think she was skimming money from the recreation fund????

Tom,

I just stumbled across some disturbing evidence.... Carmen Electra and Kremps may be the SAME person!

Here's verifiable television proof!!

Gee, I really like both badges, but Jay has a little more color and with the smaller size requirement might stand out better.

Rick Didn't want you spending more than you had too! I know the Revell kits is £10 over here, while the Dragon iteration is £25. £15 for a bit of PE?

Darren I know what you mean about the Friul tracks, that's what put me off using them on the Semovente, £24 for the tracks, £9 for the kit!!!!!!! Where as with £40 worth of Tamiya Panther, I can sort of stomach it.

Col - that is disturbing! And to think I thought Electra was kinda sexy... Dead [xx(]

Karl - I might check out those tracks, I've seen some sad stories in the Armor section about DML's tracks (a nightmare to get together but nice looking once you do) A couple of evenings in front of the TV assembling tracks is not my idea of fun... (I have the DML King Tiger, I got it 50% off so the cost would be ok)

JB well it looks like the decision on the badge is well and truly made, thanks again.

All the GB badge is posted on Page 1 of in build in two different sizes so take your pick.

Tom the DML kitty that I picked up today Big Smile [:D] has their click together "Magic Tracks” they look pretty good and for the most part clean. It'll be interesting to see how they look on.

Welcome to the build Nick and ygmodeler4. By the way ygmodeler4 any chance you could supply us with your first name? It's just that I'm old and sad and don't like using these callsigns with people you get to know.

Cheers

YG no problems at all, I definitely don't want you going against what your mum and dad have told you to do.
As for freaks on the net, you'd better believe it. Oh and that was a nice Nth Africa dio btw.

JB I forgot to mention in the last post that I found that article on making conifers from TMMI. If you want it send me an email so that I can email it back to you.

JB Great badge mate. Really sums up the whole thing nicely.

I'm gonna do some research and maybe make a decision on what I'll build. But, we've got heaps of time so I'm not in a hurry to organise anything yet. I've just realised that I know bugger all about WW2 armour, so I'll start reading (or, even better, watch a documentary Wink [;)]).

I think you may want to re-size the GB Badge to comply with the new FSM guidelines Smile [:)].

Thanks for the comments guys, I quickly threw it together at lunch in about 20 mins. I can tweak it a bit more to get the text to stand out better once it gets resized.

Does anyone remember the old "world at war" documentary series? I remember this one map from a series on the invasion of Germany that showed the allies advancing on Germany, I tried to go for that look with this one. I'm glad it still shows up nicely when it gets resized, I think the text could use some work though.

Smile [:)] This is going to just like the BoB build! with some new recruits/residents/inmates.

ygmodeler, Your parents are right, there are some crazies out there/in here. but don't you worry, in here it is a good kind of crazy, the styrene induced crazy!Clown [:o)]

Okay...if Kremps would step aside for a moment...any suggestions for some good research sites...already hit Dogpile, not very good...I need a subject for this build...thinking of a Grand Slam Lancaster (believe the first GS was dropped on a German soil target in March of 45)...

I fiddled around with the badge a bit and made the text bolder and slightly larger. I also added colour to the north sea, made the flags larger and made the hammer and sickle a bit bigger too on the Soviet flag, I thought it had litteraly disappeared when Darren shrunk it to reg size. If someone wants to shrink it down, go for it. That way Darren can post it up on the first page again.

check it out :

Joe, that would be a really cool build, I assume 1:72 Smile [:)]
