Greg, any chance the original aircraft happen to have a big paint chip in that spot?  That looks kind of goodWink [;)]

Progress has been slow.  If you are right handed (south paws just flip this aroundWink [;)]), be careful not slice open the tip of your left thumb.  It is amazing the multitude of things that require that little body part.  Tough to hold the tiny parts for clean up etc.

I glued the seat to the bracket and for the life of me can’t find it anywhere.  I can understand the little noseeum parts… but a seat and bracket?  I made a new one from a piece of soda can using a P-40 seat as a guide.  Fortunately for some reason there are 2 seat brackets in the kit.  I realized after the fact the Jug seat did not have the ribs.  Oh well. Except for the PE IP and a resin gunsight, the rest of the pit is OOB.  I am beginning to see why everyone says what a great kit the Tamiya 47 is.

Marc: Great cockpit job !!!

The seat is exceptional - much better than original plastic piece :)

Sorry about your tumb tip, however you describe it in such funny way Smile [:)]

What resin set did you use for the gunsight ????

Thanks Greg.  The gunsight is from Quickboost.  The bracket is the kit prt with the clear plastic gunsight lopped off.

Beautiful seat, Mark! Infact, there is a lot of nice work going on here!

Mind if I get in? I started a Hase 1/48 bubble top lastnight.

A piece of soda can? For real? I can't believe I never thought of that. So much for all those PE sets (well, maybe not Big Smile [:D])!

Do you have to prime soda can or can you fire acrylics right onto it?

Wow! A fine group assembled here, a great topic, and some very inspiring work on display so far. That's enough to twist my arm, Greg! Count me in with a Tamiya 1/72 Razorback. Not sure about the markings yet though.

Mike: I was curious what take you so long ... Big Smile [:D] Sign - Welcome [#welcome]

Marc: it is a very good idea - I wish I know it while sufffering with tamiya spit seat - it is really bad. Your process would be a great improvement. Bow [bow]

Made some more progress on the Jug tonight. All seam and panel line work. I'll post first pics when something exciting happens. Like paint maybe.

Post some WIP photos, those are always more interesting.

I don't know if I can speak for others, but i like watching a kit go together from sprues to finished model.

Started trumpy's 1:32 P-47D Razorback...

Don't have aby pictures yet, only did a little cleaning up and test fitting.  Seems to me, it's a big version of Tamiya's beauty, with a little more detail.  Man there are a LOT of parts in this thing!  Going to have to work slow and take time with this baby.  Anyway, I should have some pictures in a day or two.

All right. Got the first paint on tonight. To follow should be three more colors. This one is Duraluminum. Upcomming should be white alum, dark alum and aluminum. I'm thinking of trying some chrome!

Ok, got two more colors on. I don't know how much more I'm going to do. I'll look it over as I go along and decide if it needs anything else as far as paint goes. Hopefully the color contrast shows in the pics.

Thanks, Dave. After looking at it for a while I think I'm going to do a few more panels on the wings. Just looks to plain to me.

Hey hkshooter, what kind of paint are you using? Can't say I recognize the color names.

Whatever it is, it sure goes on SMOOTH! Thumbs Up [tup]

By golly it sure does, doesn't it! Hmmm.

Yup, this is Hasegawa's 1/48th bubble top. Making is done with Tamiya tape and blue painters tape.

Yeah, what's up with the subject line.  I tried putting it back, we'll see if it stays.  I should start my P-47N in about a week, I'm trying to get a P-40 done first.

It will only stay as long as people click "reply" to a post that has the correct subject line.  (or if they copy or type the correct title back when they post).

Dupes, all paints are the Alclad line. Tonight I'm using another color on the wings to offset more panels.

Hi. Is this build still open? I have a Monogram P-47 Bubbletop I started when I was 18 (I'll be 53 Dec 2) and would like to finish it. I also bought a newer release (same model, different box and markings) which I could build at the same time. I thought I would build one camo, the other bare metal. I've mainly been doing cars lately, like the last 5-6 years. This is only my second post. I like to follow along to pick up ideas. Thanks.

Oh man! That's a pretty serious collection they have down there. Really wish I could make it this weekend! Maybe someday...it's not THAT far away. Smile [:)]

Hey, if you want to grab some extra pics of....ha! You already are. I was going to say snag a bunch of the Hellcat, if I had to pick one. Sweet! Big Smile [:D]

I'd appreciate some detail shots of the corsair, if it wouldn't be too much of a bother.  I'm interested in things like the cockpit, wheel wells, wing folds, gun/ammo bays or anything that may show interesting details.

Thanks,

Fred

Just some more progress pics.  I'm considering the painting to be done.  But, I ordered some polishing powders from hawkeyehobbies, so I want to try those out before I start decaling.

Anyway, on to the pics

Enjoy

Looking good, Fred.  Have you thought of putting a jeep or some figures with it, I think that would go well with the wing gun bays being open.  It must have been a job re-arming the guns because of the height of the wing.

Little more work while paint dries. I decided I wanted to have the cowl flaps open but I didn't want to order and wait for a resin part. This is what I came up with.
