On side note, I would like to say I'm within a couple of weeks of finishing the Hurricane for the NA GB which will allow me to finally start the Mosquito for this build. Party [party]  I'm majorly pumped to dive into this project!

cool arki cant wait to see what you are up to.

as far as my build goes i have slowed down alot but will be picking up again soon. been trying to get this darn site up which is time consuming. if you want to check it out it is www.modelsinscale.com . it is basic right now still making a new skin for the site and a logo for it. if you do go check it out please dont register yet alot of bugs on the forum which we are taking care of once it is all up and running and fancy shmancy i will let you all know.

now back to rusting up some track.

edit on the earlier post : if you go check it out and you want to register feel free this way you can be in on all the changes :) hope you all show up and enjoy the site

Kenny

I just took a quick tour of the new site.  Looks pretty sharp Thumbs Up [tup].  I will definately be registering a becoming a member of that community!!  One question though - do you sleep??  I mean, man, you work harder than a one-armed paper hanger, than you do these MONSTER builds for the various GB's you participate in, you spend time with the family AND you start new websites!!  WOW!!  Is there anything you can't do?? Bow [bow]

So anyways, great looking site, I'm excited to be a member!

Now, an update: first to everyone - great work going on out there.  Bear, your Voodoo is looking pretty darn good; Razor, I dig the cabinet...

As for the Gneisenau, she is moving along quite well.  Have most of the superstructure on; all of the guns are assembled and ready to attach.  I tell you, I have developed a new respect for guys who regularly do these 1/700 kits - painting is a exercise in attention to detail!  Man, I think I repainted the decks about five times before I was satisfied, and even still I see a lot of little goofs.  But oh well, right?  I'll try to get some picture up soon.

still pretty basic we are going to fancy it up soon

Alright, so here he is... a few in progress shots of the Gneseinau.

Oh, before I post, one thing - I learned something else about these 1/700 scalers....  they are darn tough to photograph, particularly using a camera with no tripod.  Sorry for the relatively poor quality - I hope to be able to do better once he is done...

So, on to the progress shots...

One overhead shot to show general progress.   Turrets 1 and 2 are only set into position, they have not been glued.  I want to touch up the deck a little before I put the big guns on...

The next couple are (obviously) from the side, starting forward and working aft.  Nothing too noteworthy, but hey, they are pictures!! Dinner [dinner]

When he is done, I think I am going to try my hand at some water.  I found a photo of the Gneseinau anchored in fjiord in Norway in late 1940 (I think, I'll have to double check that).  There are some small boats moving to and fro around him, and one of his planes is in the water.  Looks like a cool little scene, so I figured I'd try to recreate it... or something resembling it!

Very cool, Boyd!  She looks great, and tiny!  I don't know how anyone works at 1/700 scale.  My eyeballs would be hurting. Dead [xx(] Big Smile [:D]

Here is a couple of progress pics of the Voodoo.  The wings are on and the seams are filled just a little sanding left and I'll be able to finish putting on the primer.

Wow, great bunch of work you guys have turned out while I've been on my short vacation. Had no idea that 1/700 ships were so small! I mean, I know it's 1/700, but they're ships...and BIG!

Superbear - interesting mini story for you - I live near Bangor, Maine, where BIA is located. There used to be an USAF wing that was stationed there, and back in the day (early 60's, I think?) a Voodoo crashed on a mountaintop in inclement weather not to far from my mom's house...ended up hiking that mountain with a buddy when I was in high school, and found the stripped-down carcass of the plane - even have a hunk of it at home! That prompted me to go out and get that kit the next day, and I KNOW I built it...just can't remember what it looked like or how it came out.

Guess I'll have to do another! Big Smile [:D] Any big issues?

Well done Mark,

you're right - Lt Winters said that on the march into Bastogne. It's one of my favourites as well; the cause of many a late night where I can't just watch one episode.

Hey guys.  Long time no post Big Smile [:D]  I have finally gotten back to the bench after a month off.  Got kinda burned out so i was playing WoW and now the bug has bitten me again.  All that is left on this pig is to attach the ordinance, canopy, a little more weathering, and the formmation lights and she will be done.  In the future i am not going to do 3 builds at once as it burned me out trying to complete everything.  Hope you like the update.

P.S. i am going to insert some sinkers in to the front end hole by the canopy to see if i can bring the front end down.

Any comments or crits let me know

Mist

Looking great as always.  Looking forward to see you finishing her up.  By the way, who makes that kit?

Are you going for a specific aircraft or a more general build.

I know exactly what you mean about getting burnt out on multiple builds - I had to drop out of the Winter Warriors GB because I was feeling a little swamped and was not having fun doing my builds...

Its a Revell kit.  I just got another one, to do for a buddy.  That one will have the winter camo scheme.  Why did i agree to do that???  This one is just a general build.  Nothing fancy.  Thanks for the comment
