Greetings all! No pics but I started thr GREAT experiment of Talon stuff. Doing my Meteor resin drop tanks, Boy are the nice...and heavy! I figured it was better to try here than try on the body and mess up!! Anyway tried to buff with powders on bare greay resin. No luck. All the "grain" in tank showed through. So did a little light sanding and primed with Tamia fine primer(great stuff) and ab`d the first coats of Talon silver paint. I`ll do one more light coat  and tommoro will start buffing with powder. According to Geralds site, a mix off alum. and steel is supossed to give a slight crome effect, witch is what a Korean Saber seams to SCREEM for. So hold tight kiddies and I`ll get pics posted as soon as I can...........Harv

OK,I got bored waiting for the paint to dry, so another experiment. As you know, the old Hasa F86 kit is a silver colored plastic. So I took one of the leading edge slats and used a combo of alum. & steel pwder. Alternating "coats" of both, then buff with an old t-shirt(my buffer). I LOVE IT! Thank you Gerald very much. Your STUFF is AWSOME. The pics dont show all very well, but I think you`ll get the idea. Please give coments..........Harv     (ps, the bottom one is "painted")

Okay here's my next update on my M-30 Howitzer. Finished almost all of the construction, wheels I have yet to start. The construction went together nicely, an overall joy to build. There were some snug fits, but no major problems. Cool [8D] Alot of moving parts, the "legs" move, and the gun is able to be aimed at different angles. Next up is painting, I plan to use either Tamiya Dark Green or Olive Drab acrylic. Still trying to decide if camo would be a smart idea. Next update the howitzer will be painted.Wink [;)]

All comments, questions, and suggestions welcome.Smile [:)]

Looking good, Mikael.

Does your camera have a "Macro" button? I'm still a relative newbie to digital cams myself but I have found that the Macro setting really helps with close shots. If you have one it may really help enhance the work you've done on the Howitzer so far.

Keep the pics coming

OK guys, I need your oppinion. Here is the F86 drop tanks. (1/32) In your oppinion, does it look realistic enough. Yea, its shiny, but is it the "right" shiny? I like it , but not sure. Thanks in advance.............Harv

and as for the dodge jeep ambluance that has been put on the back burnerfor know

Harv, G.A.and Mikaell. Very inspiring work. While I'm travelling this week (in CA) and can't post any progess myself, I'm very motivated by your work.

Harv: Looks very metallic. Nicely done in my opinion.

GA.modelmaker - nice job on the ambulance so far... how many litters? whatever looks more pleasing to the eye! :)

dirtball - great news on the expt.. i also read somewhere that spraying Mr Surfacer alsoworks.. I really like your second "expt', really looks like metal.. will have to try that some day fr sure. Are these the Talon paints that Gerald sells?  I do not know about 'shiny", but can you just hit it with some Future with added drops of Tamiya flat base to "dull" excess shine? sorry cant be of more help!

mg.mikael - good job so far... ditto on thr cam settings, seems to be a taf foogy/unfocus?

hi jay the box cover is showing 3 litters if i  put the window screen in the down postion. but if i leave it up i can only get 2 litters on it. i am really stumped on how i want to do this. been watching mash every afternoon to see how they did thier jeep ambulances. one part of the opening theme they show the jeeps coming down  the hill with 2 turned horzintal. i am leaning on putting window screen in the down postion were i can get 3 litters on the jeep.

I have no clue how did they did it in Korean, but from my time in Fleet Hospitals, all depends if you have a MassCax (mass casualty situation0 in which all vehicles are converted to multiple/max litters. Also depends if your ambulance is a first wave responder (taking the bad casualties), in which you may have minimum litters and support medical personnel. if the ambulance is just "parked" then you want the window (and all doors) closed... sorry cant be of more help!

JMART,thanks for the encorragement! The tanks are done with TAMA fine primer then buffed with just Tallon powders. I used alum and steel powders and just alternated colors till I got what I think is a realalistic apearance of what the would look like on the flightline. Do you think it is close? I will be sprayinf Future on later.........Harv

That's a beautiful pit, Carlos! Nice addition on the hose, too. How does it go together so far?

I'll be delayed yet again on the Mig, but I really can't complain. I'm going to drag the family up to the state shaped like a hand for Thunder Over Michigan! And yes, I'll have my camera ready.

Well enjoy your trip,,,safe driving and take lots o' pics.....

so far the kit has come togther nicely...a bit dissapointed with the PE, the side instrument consoles lack detail I have seen on other sets. I also tried the tip of a drop of the Testors clear glue/canopy maker in the instrument dials...works nice...

Harv - looks good to me! I mean, we all worry about the right "shade" of a certain color, scale effects, etc... but there is also something to be said about hyper-realism, that is, exagerating something a bit to create a desired effect. The tanks DO look like "metal" and dont have that "painted plastic" feel to them... so the effect "works" for me at least!

Carlos - That is one nice job on the pit, lovely IP also... great job on the PE, dont see a drop of CA glue anywhere! :)  Also try a drop of Future on the dials, works well...

cheers all

Well, my canopy masks and Alclad arrived today. I'm thinking of using the "White Aluminum" for the frame color on the Mig-15 Although I've never used this shade before. What do you all think? My U.S. jet aircraft has bave all been done in Polished ALuminum, so I wanted some differentiation, and the white aluminum should be a little "dirtier" of a look.

Charles, what the heck is that lump on the side of the Voodoo below the wizzo's seat where the identification light should be?

Need a little imput here all. Honest oppinion. The seat cushon, is it too orange? Does it even look right? used red card stock, cut and bent. Also "drew" some shading and wrinkles on it but very hard to see in pic. I think this will work but not sure of the color. Please help. Thanks ..........Harv

Dirtball,

I have no idea about the accuracy, but it looks good to me.

I finally got around to getting some pics of the cockpit on my 1/72 F84E

Sorry to drop in, but your question piqued my curiousity.

That particular aircraft seems to have been an ejection seat test bed. I wonder if that blister is a camera housing or some such monitor of the "dummy" exit.

And here's a must have link I stumbled across.

great pics of the airshow....

harv - also have no idea about accuracy (dont have any books on that specific subject), but the shape looks good to me..color? Dunno, so difficult to determine if a SPECIFIC color is correct... not sure how much "usage" should show either, like decolorization at the edges? sorry cant be of more help!

Aaronw - nice work so far.. are you going to weather some of the edges a bit, like drybrush?

cheers

Harv: Very nice. Looks just about right to me. The added "wrinkles" are a very nice touch and show up well in the pics.

Aaron: Looking great. Hard to believe that's 1/72. The detail is nicer than my 1/48th bird!!! Keep those pics coming.

Bondoman: Drop in anytime! You're always welcome here. Great pics, too. Thanks for your input...very helpful as I have no idea what the bulge is.
