The warthog is one of my favorite a/c. Is it acceptable? I would like to build another 1 in 1/72 and paint it in a different scheme.

I bought my plane today!
I got a 1/72 Storch. Still too scared of the big 1/32 job.
It is Academy's, and it is the Afrika Corps version, complete with a Kubelwagen! All for AUD$14.95! Looks like a really nice kit, too.

1/35 th is the usual standard for armor, then1/72nd.

Hey there again. Hmmm I saw the big trumpeter t-60(?). It was (blank) huge, so smaller then that. I dont want to go to small I like detail... so 1:32??? would that be kinda the average size that has the most options?

I did the NMF for the SBD-1 and am pleased with the results...that was probably my most challenging paint job to date.... yellow wing tops, red wing stripes and cowling, etc...

Gottcha', Chris. I feel the same way about the instructions. The kits are complex, but supposed to go together real well. I've got the SBD-5 kit and a double SBD-3 kit. I have an Eduard set for the 5 and a PE dive brake set for one of the 3's. I'm still not sure I want to do one of them yet. At least none of them are natural metal finishes. We can be glad of that!! I'm really considering building something that isn't so intense for this one, though. But, it would be fun to have a "mini-build" within the plane build group, so who knows. (Can you tell I'm trying to get someone to talk me into it?? lol)

Thanks for the link Bill. This one should definatly be a learning process. I kind of wish they made armor kit instructions like these. Really informational on what the parts are called instead of just saying where they go. Do believe though it is going to be OOB for sure, would rather spend the money on detail sets to spruce up an armor model more.

Thanks Bill,
I meant not having the instructions not being a problem because there would be a few building this kit and I could grab some insight (Although it would be from fellow Darksiders).
The wing bottom is around somewhere, I opened the kit some time back to use as a template for paper airplanes my son and I were attempting. It'll turn up, when I don't need it.

ausf: did you totally unpack the box?? Accurate Minitures kit boxes have a "false bottom, or shelf, under which they pack the decals, clear parts, and instructions. With an AM kit, not having the instructions probably WOULD be a big problem. If the bottom of the wings really are missing, I don't know what to tell you, other than check AM's web site and send them a message. 3412 is the SBD-3 kit. Not lots of difference between the 3 and the 5. I've never heard anything bad about AM kits. The one caveat I've always heard, though, is to follow the order of the directions. With most kits, lots of modelers skip around in the sequence order. AM builders don't recommend this. I'll see if I can find one of the build articles about their kits.

We almost had a mini group build going here. As I mentioned, my wife gave me this kit #3412 a few years back as a gift. I never built it.
Just dug it out and opened the dust covered box, no instuctions which would be no problem, a little deeper inspection and there's no bottom to the wings. I think that will hinder the ultimate look, right? Wink [;)]

Back on to the 109.

Academy and Tamiya make nice Tiger 1's. Tamiya's would probably be easier, (by reputation) to build, but Academy offer two models with complete interiors. (Lots of bits!)

I hear Revell have the edge if you want a 1/72 Jobby.

There are also nice Tiger II's from Tamiya and Dragon, and lots of littlies too.

I was hoping to do a 1:32 Fiesler Storch, but now I am not sure. I left my comfort zone in the LHS today and went wingy watching.(I even looked at some ships!) The Storch stared at me and said "You can't handle me, son, I will mess you up."

So I looked at some tiny boxes with little fighters in them.

Can anyone recommend a nice affordable not too hard twin engined WW2 1/72 kit?
Any nation. Or a nice Stuka kit? Or German jet?

That kit is a beauty. I have it now and can tell ya from experience I gained a long time ago, just looking in the box it will be a good build.

Ok this is where I ask you guys (and gal). I like Tigers, for rolly pollies they look cool plus that 88 they have...scary. Anyhoo, I never seen the inside of a tank kit let alone built one. So that will be my tank for this.... this is where you all rolly in, for a first timer with building expeirence, which Kit would have the concensus for ease of build of this type but give me a good level of detail.

awasoda you are right. this is looking like a great build. a lot of people involved and doing something we wouldnt normally do. or havent done much of. and to top it off bringing the two big groups together. meeting more and more people.

Looks like my build has changed. I was wanting to do something more challenging any anyway and a guy at work today gave me a 1/48 dauntless that someone gave his kid but he thought was a bit to much for him. Must say the instructions are pretty impressive. Since I know basically nothing about plane kits , how good are kits from accurate miniatures? Looks to be ok.
