Aaron- Your camo callouts sound reasonable, which aircraft are you builidng?  Is it the one in the box art?

 Oi...I heard a Geezus!

These little 1/144 jobbies are TINY!  I've seen gaps in parts on 1/48 kits these parts could fall in to.  The Corsair is almost finished Guy?  WHERE'S MY PICS!!! SoapBox [soapbox]

Johnny I am in the process of cleaning and moving the rooms around a bit but I shall get some pics up as soon as I finish the mess I just made! LOL!  Parents are coming to visit you know?

Karl I am sorry the pink excited you, Kisses [:X] I also have these silver Flash Gordon undies that I am not sure where they came from?! Alien [alien] They  may have been Namrednefs when Guy was playing rugby with him a while back?

It's all a blurr!Blush [:I]

Is it bad that I am looking forward to seeing you all start and finish your builds more so than my own?  I kinda held back on the 109 build to shut up and learn but jumped in head first here! Been quite enjoyable! Bow [bow]

Now here are my options, the owner can order me the Revell Night fighter for $9 + $12 for the PE. Or I could just buy the Dragon fighter for $22 and no PE. It was explained to me by the owner that the Dragon is a much better kit.

Dragon has a 1/72 scale Me 262???  The only one I am aware of by Dragon is 1/48 scale.  In any case, Dragon aircraft models have a history of beautifully detailed models that don't fit together.  Personally, I would stick with the Revell kit.

The "regular" Dragon kit is 1/48, they sell a pre-assembled and pre-painted kit in 1/72 so be careful there.  The Revell kit probably has more aftermarket support than anyone, CMK makes a couple of beautiful resin sets for it.  I just picked up the 262B for $6 from Squadron so it's tough to beat price wise.  Plus Revell is the only C model in 1/72 too, currently OOP but it will be back at some point.

Aaron- Looking good on the king size Schwalbe!

Dave- Nice progress, I have to say that I find the fit on the Hasegawa better than on the Revell.  Looking forward to starting my Revell 262B so we can do a comparison.

Frank- 1/144? Yowsers! I'm sure you'll work your usual magic on it though!

Mike, don't Academy do the C as an option in their new 1/72 kit?

Does that mean you don't wanna see the silver speedo? Whistling [:-^] Man is starting to sound like my wife! Laugh [(-D]

I chose to use Model Master enamels to paint this beast up with.  The RLM 76 has dryed well enough to cover with a coat of flat clear latex. The stuff they use to cover oil paintings to seal them up. Works well. Dry to the touch in 15 minutes or less and good enough to put masking tape over after 3 hours as per the directions on the rattle can.  Also low oder and low fumes which is good although I still blow it all out the window.

Then a good coat of th RLM 83 Drk green as a base for the topside (which I believe is backwards on the MM paints and labled RLM 82 dunkel GRN.

Hopefully this shark shaped bird will start taking form soon!

Nothing too snazzy yet but it is a start!

Karl, they may indeed include the parts for the C.  I've never actually seen the Academy, I have about 6 Revell 262's in the stash so I'm pretty well set.

Karl- Doh! Dunce [D)] I was thinking the C was the recon variant when the A-1a/U2 is. AFAIK Revell is the only one that does the U2, Academy would be the only C.

Mike, didn't realise that Revell did the recon variant.

I was looking at the very nice CMK conversion set the other day.

Can't remember if it was for 1/48 or 1/72 though.

CMK has the conversion set for the 1/72 Revell kit.  And yes, the Academy kit has the parts for the "C" version.

It's been OOP for a while but still shows up on eBay once in a while.  Since Revell recently re-released the 262B maybe the U2 will be along shortly.

Guys I cant believe some of the work I am seeing here, a lot of over the top models being built. I cant believe the skill levels in this group, my hat is off to all you guys. As the old saying goes " If ya can't run with the big dawgs stay on the porch".

PS the group banter is really making this interesting.

Banter? What is Randy talking about? Is Banter building a 262?  Never catch me  getting caught up with any banter no sir ree! Mischief [:-,]

I have been having a great old time watching the paint dry! Then I take a break and go watch the grass grow!  Ah what simple joys we take for granted!

My son told me to take a pic of my neat and precie masking job!  Not!

Crude as it may be it yeilded a nice hard edged splinter of Dunkle green and gray-violet as per the destructions!

The primer and sealant with the latex flat did the job! No paint pulled up with the tape! Believe me I tried!

So now I have the solid areas of hardish looking camo complete. When that dried I have started to work on the  side  coloring and mottle. Here is where the rainbow of color begins the mottling is not only the Dunkle Green/ Violet gray but included the Hell Grun and Brown -violet colors as well.  really patchy should be fun. As a safe guard I added another unevenly cut mask of frog tape to perserve a pure light blue area below a point without a straight edged demarkation line so I can have a fade effect. That is the idea at least we shall see how it turns out eh?

Now if Guy would just finish that Corsair we could really get moving here eh Frank?  Frank? where'd Frank go?  Hmmmm probably disguised himself as a Mike and now we shall never find him!

Thats got to be an imposter as there is no blue flannel or optivisor to be seen. Surely a dapper guy like Frank would have at least a blue flannel aviators scarf . Or maybe that is his twin brother Owen ? I can hardly tell the two apart .

Actually, the Optivisor is permanently mounted to my helmet safely inside the aircraft.  The Lucky Blue Flannel is under my space suit.

Whistling [:-^]

As for my brother Owen, I don't think he looks anything like me! Grumpy [|(]

And here comes Bondo with progress. ARRGHHPirate [oX)]

Wheel wells get the hydro lines and wiring harnesses.

"What's a wheel well?"Real airplanes don't have wheels. And even if they did, they'd tuck them up under their armpits, not drop them down a hole! Soerez me wheelpitz!

Cockpit not much to  brag about, but I did spend a little effort on an old crispy looking black leather seat.

The instro decals are REALLY 'orribe!! Thickestheves, thaywere, an' toobigta buut!

Hi all,

Fabulous work taking place here, I'm sorry I've not been more active in the thread. I tried Squadron for a Revell nightfighter as it's had such good press here lately, but they're out of stock -- are the events connected? Big Smile [:D] I have Hasegawa's equivalent, I might dig it out of the stash and hold it in reserve for a potential second build (if it has recessed panel lines -- if not I'll sell it on through eBay and go with the Revell).

I'm doing instrument decals at this time and hope to have cockpit WIP shots up later.

In the meanwhile, here's a great reference photos link:

Thanks, Summit -- that's the one! Squadron had it three bucks cheaper on special and I was assembling an order (I need canopy masks for the big Tamiya bird). I might give them a few days and see if they come up with more stock. Failing that I could drop Tower an order.

Cheers,

Mike

Or click here! Seans link to Mikes possible 262?

Frank now that is a great looking U-2 with such a snazzy jump suit!  Explains a lot of those pics that have been showing up on the forum too! Mischief [:-,]

Ok where am I at? Motteling the Model! But 1st Bondo  comes out of nowhere to score!  Still reeling at his wonderful Stranrauner named after a base or city or other noun besides a bird he has jumped into the forey with added details and leather seating and just the works!  Probably 1/72 or smaller knowing him and his torturous ways! Well done ! Can that fellow make an entrance?

Oh yeah mottteling!

What is motteling? LOL!  ( had to do it Bondo!)

Going whole hog with the box art here in 1/32 scale. This baby has DRK green, Light Green, Gray violet and brown violet over RLM 76l. A Skittles of a 262 . Except on the tail only gray violet and Dark green. Oh well just following orders!

When wild and faded the effects with a coat of thinned  light blue (76) and Gray violet

Used this on a few panels as well as the flash reveals!

Glossed up again and ready for decaling tomorrow I think. Then I can ad the wheels ( can't afford my own Frankinstand in 1/32 scale) The Pilot, engines and some final details.  Think I got something done today finally!
