Awesome work guys!!!!!!!! Crushlikins that is awesome!!! I know how it feels to gloos a build and sit through sometimes days of decal apps, then finally get to dull it and return it to a military finish, set back and just say WOW!!! WELL DONE mate!!

Raptor, Tbolt and Jeremy glad you are all getting started.  I was begining to where all the other entrants were.  Nice office Jeremy.  I wish mine looked as good.  I am looking forward to your WIP photos.

Tbolt, I posted a very detailed photo of the F-8 IP a feww pages back.  There were some interesting features shown if you are interested.

Coach Crusher, I finally have all the big pieces together on my Ta152.  I would never have made it without your sage and calming advice.  Whistling  What a mother it has been to get this far.

Attaching the outer wing halves and getting the RLM76 on took all day today.  Opening the cowl flaps took most of Saturday.  On both phases it was three steps forward and two steps back the whole way.  Ick!  I really stretched myself with the resin upgrade going on a limited run kit.  It is not flawless but it is going to do.  The LG is also built up and dry fitted to get the proper angles.  Next, the dark colors go on.

This is 4 weeks of work on this pro modeler 1/48 g-2, g-3 variant. I am building the g-3 bomber variant in later  war configuration, I think. This is my first German plane since the 60's and this kit is hard to build, even with the enhanced instructions. I got this model for free, so its alot more fun. This is after primer so I can see areas that need work.

I CAN HARDLY BELIEVE IT!!!  Pages worth of WIP pics.  A lot of you guys are either ready to paint or dang close.  My hat's off to you all!  Looks like there has been some serious building going on over the weekend.

I worked on my F-8 a bit today, finishing up the wing to fuselage joint, and rescribing the area too.  I also attached the gun hood, and after I get that cleaned up in the next couple of days I will be able to attach the engine and cowl.  After that, a few bits to sort out then finally some paint!  Finally, a couple of photos to show where I am at:

I see at Hannants today, they have the Eduard 1/48 FW-190D-11/D-13 kit in stock (did you hear that Guy? Whistling)

Eduard 1/48 FW-190D-11/D-13

Steve---thanks for the comment.  Your bird looks great.  Love the powerplant!  Are you going to leave it open?

Frank, I am glad to see our fearless leader is moving right along.  Your build looks very crisp indeed!

I have a question about how some have their GB badges cycling in one space.  Since I plan to do many more of these, can someone tell me how that is done?

xradio, I'm working on the ProModeller kit, as well. I hear this is the Dragon kit, re-boxed. How did you find the fit of the fuselage into the wing-spar?

I've not yet attached the cowl, but I can see a lot of putty and sanding in the seam areas.

While mine wasn't free I got it for cheap and it has been fun so far. I'll have to post some WIP's.

Clebode -- that cockpit shot will come in very handy! I'm hoping to paint the details tomorrow. I had hoped to find some photoetched harnesses to add to the seat, but couldn't spot anything at Squadron. They had Eduard's set for the F-8 but that featured a lot of stuff that I wasn't planning to use on this build -- maybe later, there are four great decal options in this kit and I will no doubt be back for more when I can track down kits on eBay, since, for some reason, this item is currently OOP. So sadly, the only detail that would be really visible under that nice, clear canopy, the harness, is the one thing that will be pointedly missing!

I got the wing together last night as planned, and painted the engine in a mixed dark metallic enamel. I was planning to drybrush with silver and add a black wash, but, you know... Studying wartime photos and everyone's build-up shots, the engine seems to be essentially invisible behind that fan and the close hug of the cowl ring. Just how much can be seen, guys? I'm loathe to spend time on details that will be invisible -- same with the interior of the cowl, I was going to paint it black, but it seems there is no direct line of sight to the interior at all.

I have an order in for Eduard's mask set, which will hopefully be with me in a few weeks, so when she's ready for paint I'll set her aside and get back to a few other builds in the meantime. That'll also give me a chance to agonise over which scheme to go for -- they're all good!

Cheers, M/TB379

Clebode you have done an excellent job so far on an not so easy to build kit. To have your GB badges rotate you need to create a GIF files. There are alot of different programs that can do this but I use one called GIF Animator.

Steve looks like you are whipping that Eduard kit into shape. The more posts I see on these kits the more afraid I am to build one of the ones I have in the Royal Class kit I have of the F-8.

Frank good to see you making progress. Any spinner pics yet!

I hyave everyting sealed under a dullcoat and the vertical guppe bar oversprayed in lightblue. I'm going to work on the landing gear tonight.

Yea, I plan on leaving it wide open in the engine/gun area to show off all the detail. I put the engine mounts in last  and the top brace fit but the two side ones never reached the mount so I bombarded it with superglue at the bottom where there is a notch in the wheel wells for it to fit into. Its a little off ( Big Surprise) but I think it will come out ok in the end. Going to put the front cowl on and leave the pannels off.

Quick question for the experts, behind the engine and mounts there is a big cavity before the firewall/gun mounts. Should there be anything in there?????. There is only the engine mounts in there now

Guy due West my friend! You'l have to compensate a bit for the gulf streams northern drift though. The Jag is gone!? :drive:Did you finally come to your senses and realise BMW is the way to go.

I just got the new Squadron catolog and guess what in there? The new Eduard 190 D11/13 Dual Combo Kit! Man it is tempting. Guy I expect to see some pics as soon as you get your mitts on it so I can decide if I need it! I really need some more .303 rounds though to feed the Enfields. Are you anywhere near the Radway Green facility Guy. mabye you could grab a crate and strap it to your back while your swimming over here? Especially if Guy is coming! OK I'm off to see if I can find something I have lying around to sell off on eBay so I do'nt feel guilty about spending $70 bucks on the new D11/13!

So many beautiful builds going here by very  talented builders, geeze, I am worried about showing my build here. If things go as planned I should be able to start my F8 the end of this month.

Randy So many to build.......So little time

Randy, I'm looking forward to seeing your take on the F-8 theme!

WIP: I managed to get some time on the Butcherbird today, and the cockpit is done. These photos are coutesy of my bro in law and his touch at super-macro with a better camera than mine:

Which enlarges/crops to:

Not bad, if i say so myself, the drybrushing really made the instruments pop. I was going to do clear cement lenses but deceided there was no need, this one will fly as it is.

Here's the assembled cockpit:

I'd like to have done a harness, if I can figure out how before it comes time to close the lid, it might yet happen.

I'll take a run at the airframe tonight, and hopefully have her done soon to the point of setting aside to await the canopy masks arriving. These Tamiyas just build themselves (maybe I shouldn't say that until after it's together, but so far it's been a breeze.)

Cheers, Mike/TB379

Mike,

Awesome looking IP in super macro! The detail his camera picks out is impressive, what make & model is the camera? It obviously is a good choice for this sort of photography.

SoulCrusher,

Cool Enfield rifles. I inherited a custom .303 Mk III with a civilian sporting Monty Carlo stock added. It came with the original canvas military protective bag, large military clip & the brass weight / string for field cleaning the barrel! Owning more guns than I could appreciate I gave it to my aunt. Oh good work on the 190 as well.

Taking this week off from the kitchen table & hope to get started on my F-8 next week! Still rolling around the idea of purchasing a airbrush for this build in the depths of my mind...Hmm

Everyone else,

Great looking 190's! It will help seeing a few before tackling one myself! Strength in numbers.Toast

Hi SF, It's a Fuji FinePix S6500, set for 6.5mP I believe. My own is the model 5600, which shoots at 5mP, but with less sophisticated lens and focussing. These frames are so large they nearly give my laptop a hernia!

Am assembling the fuselage, the pit will be going in shortly.

Mike, thats a great looking IP and cockpit you have there, cant wait to see more

Arkii, good to see ya buddy and that looks an interesting kit I know you will do it justice

Crusher, I have plenty of .303 ammo for mine so I can send ya some. Mine is a number 1 MKIII that has been butchered and chopped by some idiot. I need to get it restored its a shame the way it looks right now.

For fun I dry fitted the gun covers and it was not even close to fitting, good thing I am leaving it all open. The front cowl is also off by a bit. Heres some pics of the space in front of the firewall I was talking about. So just plumming in there

The space back there is for the 'accesory' package of the engine. The pumps ,generators, ignition magnetos, etc . I cant see in there but it looks like there are the ammo boxes right at the back ,under the gun breech's

If you need pics then let me know.

Thank you ,Krow113

Thanks Krow, your right about the ammo boxes they go from the breeches to the bottom of the well. Its such a big hole that Im sure something else should be back there like plumming etc. If you have a pic that would be great. I plan on putting a few bits and bobs in to fill the void and make it look interesting.

The kit supplies nothing?   Go to the first page in this GB there is a website ,the first one -BMW 801 ,thats in the A-8 , good clear pix of the whole engine .More than enough to re-create something a little more accurate.

Thank you ,Krow113

Mike looks like a good start ands IP looks great!

SurpressionFire we need to talk. To many guns to appreciate?!!!  Are you sure that is possible? Though I myself am a purest and I do'nt buy sporters unless it is with the intention of returning them to factory condition.

Steve keep pluging away buddy she is looking great. What type of .303 do you have. I will only shoot British surplus because most American manufactured stuff does not have the same thickness as the British made ammo. I have 200 rounds of 1950's manufactured Radway Green brass. I am probally going to grab some Greek surplus that just hit the states here recently to stock up.It is suppose to be some good stuff from what I here.

Finished picks will be up later tonight! Waiting for the paint to dry on the manifoild so I can install them and add the antenna and I'm done! Definetely going to have to build another one after my P-35. To much fun going on here and I do'nt want to miss out!
